Abstract

Pandemi akibat penyebaran virus corona melanda Indonesia dalam rentang tahun 2020-2021. Ribuan korban terkonfirmasi covid berjatuhan. Pemerintah sudah melakukan program Pemberlakuan Pembatasan Kegiatan Masyarakat (PPKM), pemberlakuan 3M (menjaga jarak, memakai masker, mencuci tangan), 5M (menjaga jarak, memakai masker, mencuci tangan, menjauhi kerumunan, mengurangi mobilitas) serta pemberian vaksin untuk meningkatkan antibodi tubuh dalam melawan virus. Faktor penting lain yang diperlukan untuk melawan infeksi virus adalah imunitas tubuh. Imunitas tinggi, infeksi virus corona bisa dikalahkan. Asupan supplemen yang mengandung vitamin C, D, E dan zink, bisa menambah daya imun tubuh. Kekayaan pangan di Indonesia berupa rempah-rempah dan bahan pangan (bahan herbal) dapat dijadikan suplemen tradisional. Khasiat bahan herbal ini dirasakan sejak dahulu. Khasiatnya sudah diteliti dan ahli kesehatan/gizi juga merekomendasikannya. Tujuan Pengabdian Pada Masyarakat (PPM) ini adalah menyampaikan informasi kepada masyarakat tentang khasiat bahan herbal untuk menambah imunitas tubuh dalam mencegah infeksi covid. Sosialisasi dilakukan pada Ibu-ibu Majelis Taklim Masjid Al-Manar Kelurahan Tangkerang Barat, Kecamatan Marpoyan Damai, Pekanbaru. Kegiatan ini berupa penyuluhan tentang jenis tanaman herbal yang bisa digunakan sebagai obat herbal dan cara pembuatannya.Hasil dari kegiatan ini adalah meningkatnya pengetahuan ibu- ibu MajelisTaklim Masjid Al-Manar tentang beberapa jenis bahan herbal yang bisa meningkatkan imunitas tubuh.

Abstract

Program bantuan sapi untuk masyarakat di Kabupaten Kampar Propinsi Riau telah didistribusikan sedemikian rupa, dengan sendirinya akan menghasilkan limbah padat berupa kotoran sapi. Kotoran sapi diolah menggunakan proses anaerob akan menghasilkan biogas. Potensi biogas yang diperoleh dapat digunakan sebagai sumber energi. Berdasarkan pengabdian terdahulu tahun 2023 telah teridentifikasi sebanyak 107 ekor sapi dari 30 peternak sapi dan telah dibangun unit pembangkit biogas sebanyak 6 unit, setiap unit mempunyai kapasitas 1500 L yang diumpan dengan kotoran sapi sebesar 250 L/hari sehingga menghasilkan biogas sebesar 1.080 L/hari. Biogas tersebut dapat dikonversi menjadi energi bakar yang dapat digunakan sebagai bahan bakar kompor rumah tangga pengganti gas LPG. Pengabdian ini dilakukan dalam dua tahap yakni melalui WORKSHOP dan PRAKTEK LAPANGAN. Pada WORKSHOP dan PRAKTEK LAPANGAN diikuti oleh 30 peserta yang berasal dari kelompok peternak sapi. Hasil pengabdian menunjukkan bahwa api yang dihasilkan berarna biru dan dapat digunakan untuk memasak.

Abstract

Leachate is a liquid generated from waste decomposition containing organic matter, ammonia, heavy metals, and suspended solids in high concentrations. Improper leachate disposal can pollute soil and water around the landfill. This study aims to determine the effect of different idle stabilization techniques on COD, ammonia, and TSS removal efficiency using an aerobic Sequencing Batch Reactor (SBR). Three idle variations were tested: static idle, mixed idle, and aerated idle. The SBR reactor was operated with fill (1 h), react (18 h), settle (2 h), draw (1 h), and idle (2 h) phases for four cycles. The results showed that the aerated idle variation achieved the highest removal efficiencies: COD 86.67%, ammonia 95.36%, and TSS 93.97%. Aerated idle provided better sludge stability and optimal oxygen conditions for microbial activity.

Abstract

Zinc (Zn) is a heavy metal commonly found in wastewater, with Zn (II) levels above the threshold causing health problems and environmental pollution. Though zinc is essential, excess zinc can lead to poisoning. Thus, Zn (II) must be removed before releasing water into the environment. The adsorption method is effective for controlling heavy metal pollution, with zeolite based on POFA (palm oil fly ash) as a useful adsorbent. This research aims to analyze the influence of pH, adsorbent dose, contact time, and initial concentration on POFA-based zeolite's ability to remove Zn (II). Experiments were conducted by varying pH (3, 4, 5, 6, 7), adsorbent dosage (1, 1.5, 2, 2.5, 3 g/L), contact time (5, 10, 15, 30, 60, 90, 120, 150, 180 minutes), and initial Zn (II) concentration (2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 15 mg/L). Results showed the highest Zn removal efficiency at pH 6, an adsorbent dose of 2 g/L, and a contact time of 60 minutes, achieving 98.77% removal. The Zn (II) adsorption process fits the Langmuir and Freundlich isotherms, with a maximum adsorption capacity of 28.27 mg/g. The adsorption kinetics followed a pseudo-second-order model with qe 5.04 mg/g and an adsorption rate constant of 0.197 g.mg-1.min-1.

Abstract

Greywater is wastewater from domestic activities sourced from kitchens, bathrooms, and laundry water. Greywater discharged directly into the environment can cause a decrease in surface water quality due to its high organic content, nutrients, pathogenic bacteria, and detergents and surfactants. One method that can be used to remove organic and nutrient content is adsorption. The success of the adsorption process is determined by several factors, such as adsorbent type, dosage, contact time, and others. One adsorbent that has attracted the attention of many researchers in recent years is magnetic biochar. This study aims to remove chemical oxygen demand (COD), total suspended solids (TSS), oil, and grease from greywater with a magnetic biochar adsorbent made from palm shells. The study was conducted by varying the dose of 1.2–8.55 g/l and the contact time of 30–150 minutes. The results showed that increasing the dose and contact time can increase the removal efficiency of COD, TSS, oil, and grease. The best results were obtained at a dose of 8.55 g/l and a contact time of 150 minutes. The removal of COD, TSS, oil, and grease was 87.91%, 88.46%, and 99.96%, respectively.
