Abstract

The purposes of this development research to develop interactive multimedia-based learning media Pilar Baru (Pintar Belajar Bangun Ruang) and describe the quality of media based on aspects of validity, practicality, and effectiveness. The design of this study refers to the ADDIE development model which includes 5 stages, namely analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. The research instruments were in the form of media assessment sheets by material experts, media experts, and teachers to measure practicality. and learning outcomes test questions to measure media effectiveness. Product testing was conducted on 36 students of class VIII. The results showed that the assessment by the material and media experts was obtained an average score 4.29 then the teacher obtained an average score of 4.4 with very good criteria so that the developed media was declared valid. The results of the questionnaire response analysis of students obtained an average score of 4.57 and the teacher's response obtained an average score of 4.62 with very good criteria. The results of observations of the implementation of learning showed a very good classification with a percentage reaching 96.87%. The percentage of classical completeness from student learning outcomes tests reached 80.6% so the media was declared effective.

Abstract

This research aims to develop and produce learning media using powtoon animation applications that are valid, practical and effective. This research model refers to a ADDIE development model that includes 5 stages namely analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation. Research instrument in the form of validation sheets by experts to measure validity aspect; teacher activity observation sheet in managing class to measure practicality aspect; student activity observation sheet, responses, and tests to measure effectiveness aspect. Respondents for the learning media trial are students of class VIII SMP which consists of 27 students. The results showed that the learning media satisfies validity criteria based on the assessment by experts. The learning media satisfies practicality criteria based on the result of teacher activity observation are categorized as good. The learning media satisfies effective criteria based on the result of students activity observation are categorized as very good, students response are categorized as very good, and the percentage of classical completeness from student learning outcomes test reached 85%.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to describe the level of visual thinking in understanding the formal definition of real numbers sequence based on cognitive style of Field Independent type and also cognitive style of Field Dependent type of students in Mathematis Department of UNM. Visual thinking is one of the abilities that becomes the bridge for transforming information from abstract-verbs to clearer forms. Wileman (Stoke, 2001) defines visual thinking as the ability to convert information of all kinds into images, graphics, or other forms that can help communicate information. The research method used in this research is descriptive research method design. The level of visual thinking is measured by using a test instrument with a special indicator measuring the level of visual thinking. The subject of this study consisted of two persons representing the type of cognitive style, the Field Dependent type cognitive style (FD) with the Field Independent cognitive style (FI). The results of this study show the location of the shortcomings and advantages of students in visual thinking on each type of cognitive style. In addition, it is found that there is a relationship between the level of visual thinking with the thinking style of the students in Mathematics Department of UNM.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the student’s ability to solve mathematical problems with Polya's steps (understanding the problem, devising a plan, carrying out the plan and looking back,) viewed from personality types according to Keirsey. This research is descriptive-qualitative. The research subjects were 4 students from class XI of Senior High School, with one subject for each personality type. The research instrument uses personality type classification instruments, problem-solving tests, and interview guidelines. The results of the research showed that from each of the students with the type of Keirsey personality, in solve mathematical problems more tend to be on types of Guardian and Rational personalities, can do every step of Polya’s problem-solving. Next, are the Idealist and Artisan types which are still lacking at the steps certain solving the problem of the problems given.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the description of the influence of think-pair-share learning models on students' mathematical self-efficacy. The subjects of this study were IPS class X students in one of the high schools in Makassar. Taking the subject was done by giving a questionnaire test to students of class X IPS 3, then from these results 6 research subjects are chosen based on existing categories. The instrument used was a self-efficacy questionnaire containing 21 items that corresponded to the dimensions of self-efficacy and lesson plans that were in accordance with the syntax of the think-pairshare learning model. The results of the study showed that self-efficacy of the high category subjects had a good effect. That is because both subjects already have high strength, level, and magnitude dimensions. For self-efficacy, the medium category subject, after giving questions that were not too difficult at the initial meeting and different discussion processes, was able to influence their level dimensions. As for self-efficacy, it is low, because of the motivation given by the teacher and the success of them friends, the strength dimension and level experienced significant changes. However, because both subjects have inability to express opinions even though they have completed the task, so the generality dimension does not experience significant changes. The results of this study to give information about the effect of students' self-efficacy during the learning process so that in the learning process, teachers can help students understand the lessons according to their self-efficacy.

Abstract

This research is classroom-action research, which aims to increase both pupils' activity and achievement in mathematics. The subjects of this research is the students of class VIII which consisted of 30 students. Technique of collecting data using instrument: (1) pre-test, (2) observation sheet of teacher activity, (3) observation sheet of students activity, and (4) the learning outcome test. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistical analysis and descriptive analysis. The results show that (1) teacher activity increased, (2) students activity increased, (3) the average of students mathematics learning achievementare above the value of minimal criteria with a classical completeness level of 86,67%. From the research result can be concluded that the implementation of problem-based learning modeleith differentiation learning strategies can improve student learning achievement of class VIII.

Abstract

This research is a descriptive research that aims to describe the metacognition of high school students in solving mathematical problems regarding students' academic abilities. The subjects were students in grade XI on a High School that selected based on certain criteria with snowball sampling technique. The data were collected through problem-solving test which was supported by interview data. Based on the research result, can be concluded that students with high and low academical abilities had an awareness of the facts they had and were aware of how to use a strategy. However, only high-ability students had an awareness of when and why a strategy should be applied. It showed that in solving mathematical problems students with high academical ability involve three aspects of metacognitive knowledge namely declarative knowledge, procedural knowledge, and conditional knowledge nicely, while students with low academical ability only involve two aspects of metacognitive knowledge i.edeclarative knowledge and procedural knowledge.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan kemampuan numerasi berdasarkan kemampuan matematika siswa. Jenis penelitian ini adalah penelitian kualitatif dengan pendekatan deskriptif. Subjek penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas VIII SMP Negeri 1 Marioriawa yaitu sebanyak 6 siswa, yaitu 2 siswa dengan kategori kemampuan matematika tinggi, 2 siswa dengan kategori kemampuan matematika sedang, dan 2 siswa dengan kemampuan matematika rendah. Instrumen penelitian ini adalah tes kemampuan matematika, tes kemampuan numerasi, dan pedoman wawancara. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa siswa dengan kemampuan matematika tinggi dapat memenuhi dua dari tiga indikator numerasi yaitu menganalisis informasi yang ditampilkan dalam berbagai bentuk dan menggunakan angka dan simbol-simbol yang terkait dengan matematika dasar untuk memecahkan masalah praktis dalam berbagai macam konteks kehidupan sehari-hari. Siswa dengan kemampuan matematika sedang dapat memenuhi satu dari tiga indikator numerasi yaitu menganalisis informasi yang ditampilkan dalam berbagai bentuk. Siswa dengan kemampuan matematika rendah tidak dapat memenuhi ketiga indikator numerasi.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the learning difficulties in mathematics specifically in the topic of trigonometry at the senior high school (SMA/SMK) level. The background of the study highlights that abstract concepts such as sine, cosine, tangent functions, identities, and equations often pose challenges for students. These difficulties are largely caused by a lack of basic geometric understanding, limited ability to visualize angles, and a curriculum that is not fully adaptive to students’ learning needs. The absence of these foundational skills makes it challenging for students to relate trigonometric concepts to real-life contexts, thereby reducing the effectiveness of learning. The research method employed is a secondary literature analysis from various reliable sources, including case studies, student surveys, and evaluations of the national curriculum. This approach enables the identification of patterns of learning difficulties qualitatively while also examining factors that influence students’ comprehension levels. The analysis results indicate that the main challenges include understanding abstract concepts (42%), applying formulas (35%), and learning motivation (23%). External factors, such as conventional teaching methods that lack variety and limited learning resources, further exacerbate the problem. Based on these findings, the study recommends innovative learning approaches, such as the use of digital technology, interactive media, and project-based learning relevant to everyday life. These approaches are expected to enhance student understanding, encourage active engagement, and reduce achievement gaps. This research aims to provide practical contributions for educators and policymakers to improve the effectiveness of trigonometry instruction at the senior high school level.

Abstract

This study aims to conduct an in-depth analysis of the impact of the learning environment on students’ low understanding of mathematical concepts, particularly in algebra topics among junior high school students. The learning environment is an essential factor that plays a major role in determining students’ success in comprehending abstract mathematical concepts that require logical thinking skills. This research employs a theoretical review or literature study method by examining various scholarly sources such as journals, books, and previous research findings relevant to the topic. Data collection techniques were carried out through analysis, comparison, and synthesis of information from various references. The results of the study indicate that the condition of the learning environment, both physical and non-physical, has a significant influence on students’ understanding of algebraic material. Factors such as classroom noise, inadequate lighting, limited learning facilities, low motivation, and less conducive social interactions have been proven to reduce students’ concentration and interest in learning mathematics. Therefore, it can be concluded that efforts to improve students’ understanding of mathematical concepts must be accompanied by creating a comfortable, interactive, and creative learning environment that motivates students to think critically and participate actively in the learning process.
