Abstract

With the help of teaching aids, this study intends to show how mathematics learning outcomes among students have improved. The sub-material used in this study is about slices and combinations. The venn diagram board is the teaching aid used in this research. This type of research is a Classroom Action Research (CAR) which was conducted in one of the junior high schools in Purwakarta Regency by involving 20 students of class VII as research subjects. The data collection technique used in this research is using a written test (daily test) in the form of a description of 8 items. Processing of data from the results of the written test in this study is using the percentage formula. Based on the data analysis of students' mathematics learning outcomes, namely a) In the first cycle there were 6 students (30%) who completed and 14 students (70%) did not complete, b) In the second cycle there were 12 students (60%) who completed and 8 students (40%) which are not completed. So based on the results of the analysis obtained from this study, it can be seen that learning by using teaching aids media can improve student learning outcomes.

Abstract

The ability of student teacher candidates is still low, one of which is understanding of statistical analysis. The purpose of this study was to develop a Tableau-assisted PJBL learning model to improve students' statistical analysis skills in basic statistics courses. This type of research is development (R&D) according to Thiagarajan's flow, namely 4-D (Four-D Models) with 36 students who teach basic statistics courses as many subjects. The instruments used were statistical analysis tests in the form of pretest and posttest, and student responses. Data analysis used is descriptive qualitative and descriptive statistics. The results of this study are: (1) The implementation of the PJBL learning model is proven to significantly improve students' statistical analysis skills in basic statistics courses with a Sig(2-tailed) value of 0.000<0.005, (2) the Tableau-assisted PJBL learning model is effective and easier to implement in basic statistics courses.

Abstract

Based on research, most students have difficulty understanding the principles and operations of numbers. Therefore, the writer was moved to do this research. This research is classified as a qualitative descriptive research that aims to describe students' difficulties when working on problems in the Numbers material. The research subjects were 15 students of class VII B SMP Pasundan 1 Cimahi. The data processing technique in this study uses the formula proposed by Arikunto. From the results of the analysis, the first indicator 73% is classified as sufficient category. The second indicator, namely 55%, is in the poor category. The third indicator reached 73% in the sufficient category. The 4th indicator reached 82% in the good category. The 5th indicator reached 89% in the very good category. From the description above, it is clear that students have the most difficulty in working on number problems, namely that students are still difficult in working on questions with complicated operations. The factors behind these difficulties are: (1) Lack of understanding of the concept of work on number operations, (2) Teacher discussion that is not clear, (3) Insufficient use of learning media.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the increase in students' critical mathematical thinking skills after being given treatment using the approach problem solving. This research was carried out at SMP Negeri 36 Bandung in class VIII with a sample size of 25 students. The method used in this research is quasi-experimental. The instrument and learning tools used are questions pretest and questions posttest. The data collection technique in this research is 5 descriptive questions with indicators of critical thinking abilities. Data analysis was carried out using the N-Gain test, normality test, test Mann-Whitney, homogeneity test, and Test independent t-test. The results of the research showed that there was an increase in students' mathematical critical thinking abilities by learning using problem solving approach.

Abstract

The motivation behind this investigation was the weak performance of children in math problems. The purpose of this study is to determine the impact of problem-based learning model on improving students' ability to solve mathematical problems. This study utilized a quasi-experiment method with a Nonequivalent Control Group design. The subjects in this study were class VII B as the experimental group and class VII C as the control group. Each of the two classes had thirty-five students.  The purpose of using a control group as a comparison is to observe what symptoms appear in the group of participants who receive treatment. The conclusion shows that the Problem Based Learning model has a significant impact on the average N-Gain score based on the variation between the pretest score and the final score, namely the posttest score, where the average N-Gain score of the experimental and control classes is significantly different.

Abstract

ABSTRAKPenelitian ini merupakan bagian dari laporan penelitian Pendekatan Kontekstual Untuk Meningkatkan Kemampuan Pemahaman dan Pemecahan Masalah Matematis serta Kemandirian Belajar Siswa SMP. Penelitian ini merupakan berbentuk kuasi eksperimen dengan desain pretest postest control group design yang bertujuan menelaah pencapaian kemampuan pemahaman matematis siswa SMP yang menggunakan pembelajaran pendekatan kontekstual dibandingkan dengan pembelajaran biasa. Selain itu penelitian ini juga diharapkan dapat meningkatkan kemampuan pemahaman matematis siswa SMP serta. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa SMP kelas VIII Kota Cimahi, sedangkan sampelnya adalah siswa kelas VIII dari salah satu SMP yang ditetapkan secara purposif pada SMP di Kota Cimahi dan dipilih secara acak dari kelas VIII yang ada. Kemudian dari sampel tersebut ditetapkan secara acak yang menjadi kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol. Berdasarkan hasil analisis data, diperoleh kesimpulan bahwa Pencapaian dan peningkatan kemampuan pemahaman matematis siswa SMP yang memperoleh pembelajaran menggunakan pendekatan kontekstual lebih baik daripada pencapaian dan peningkatan kemampuan pemecahan masalah matematis siswa dengan pembelajaran konvensional. Pencapaian dan peningkatan siswa yang memperoleh pembelajaran menggunakan pendekatan kontekstual mendapat pencapaian yang bagus sedangkan kelas yg pembelajarannya konvensional masih sangat kurang. Kata Kunci : Kontekstual, Pemahaman Matematis  ABSTRACTThis study is part of a research report Contextual Approach To Improve Understanding Ability and Mathematical Problem Solving and Independence Junior High Student. This research is a form of quasi-experimental design with pretest posttest control group design that aims to examine the achievement of junior high school students' mathematical understanding ability that uses contextual learning approach compared with normal learning. In addition, this research is also expected to improve the ability of junior high school students' mathematical understanding as well. The population in this study were all students of class VIII SMP Cimahi, while the sample is a class VIII student of one of the junior set purposively on SMP in Cimahi and randomly selected from an existing class VIII. Then from these samples were randomly assigned into experimental class and control class. Based on the results of the data analysis, we concluded that the Achievement and increase the ability of junior high school students 'mathematical understanding obtain contextual learning approach is better than the achievement and improvement of students' mathematical problem solving ability with conventional learning. Achievement and improvement of students who obtain contextual learning approach gets a great achievement while conventional classroom learning which is still lacking. Keywords: Contextual, Mathematical Understanding.

Abstract

This research aims to see the results of increasing mathematical problem solving abilities using the problem based learning model. The method used in this research is a quantitative method with a quasi-experimental type of research and uses a Nonequivalent Control Group design. The sample in this study was 20 students from each class. Class VIII B is the experimental class and class VIII D is the control class. The data collection technique in this research uses written test instruments, namely pretest and posttest. Data management in this research began with a test of students' mathematical problem solving abilities, namely using a pretest and posttest. After that, the data from the pretest and posttest results were processed by carrying out the t-test and Ngain test. The results of this research show that the problem based learning model can improve students' mathematical problem solving abilities. The conclusion of the research shows that the problem based learning model is better than ordinary learning for improving students' mathematical problem solving abilities.

Abstract

Technology is a supporting asset for the implementation of the teaching and learning process in educational institutions, and its application can be studied through research. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method with the aim of identifying the application of adaptive learning in mathematics learning with the help of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the digitalization of mathematics education course.  This study aims to identify the application of adaptive learning in mathematics instruction with the assistance of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the course on the digitalization of mathematics education. The research was developed using the design thinking method (empathize, define, ideate, prototype, and test), resulting in a product consisting of teaching tools (media, assessments, and student worksheet) independently created by students of class B1 Mathematics Education at IKIP Siliwangi. The instruments used were validation sheets included in form applications and polls on the WhatsApp application. The validation and poll results were analyzed using real-time techniques with Apache Spark. The teaching tools in this study were validated by practitioners and tested on a group of students. Based on the practitioner’s validation and evaluations results, and student tests, the AI-assisted teaching tools for the digitalization of mathematics education course were deemed suitable for use and beneficial in the teaching and learning process.

Abstract

Film merupakan media massa yang memiliki fungsi, antara lain sebagai saluran informasi, pendidikan, sarana hiburan dan untuk memengaruhi. Pesan di dalam film tersebut dikemas sedemikian rupa sesuai fungsinya untuk mencapai tujuan yang ingin dicapainya. Tulisan ini bertujuan untuk mengungkapkan pesan positif dalam film Hidden Figures yang bertema rasisme di Amerika Serikat pada tahun 1960an. Setting film ini adalah persaingan untuk mengorbitkan astronot ke luar angkasa antara Amerika Serikat (NASA) dengan Rusia atau Uni Soviet. Hasil pembahasan tulisan ini menunjukkan pesan-pesan positif dalam film Hidden Figures, antara lain, semangat pantang menyerah dalam memerjuangan hak yang seharusnya diperoleh, orang yang pintar dan terampil dapat bertahan hidup, dan menghargai perbedaan membawa kebaikan bagi semua pihak.

Abstract

Students in mathematics education programs often face challenges that require strong self-belief and the ability to manage their own learning in order to achieve optimal academic performance. This study investigates the influence of self-efficacy and self-regulated learning on students’ Grade Point Average (IPK), focusing on three objectives: (1) the direct effect of self-efficacy on IPK, (2) the direct effect of self-regulated learning on IPK, and (3) the indirect effect of self-efficacy on IPK mediated by self-regulated learning. A quantitative approach with path analysis was employed, involving 40 Mathematics Education students selected through simple random sampling. Data were collected via validated and reliable questionnaires, and analyzed using SPSS and SMART-PLS v.4. The results indicate that the direct influence of self-efficacy on IPK is weak and statistically insignificant. In contrast, self-regulated learning shows a significant and meaningful direct effect on IPK. Furthermore, self-efficacy strongly influences self-regulated learning, which in turn positively affects IPK, confirming an indirect relationship. It is concluded that fostering both self-belief and regulatory learning strategies is essential to improving academic outcomes in higher education.
