Abstract

Fiqh learning in Indonesia has traditionally relied on lecture-based instruction rooted in pesantren pedagogy, which often prioritizes knowledge transmission over analytical engagement. This approach, while culturally embedded, poses challenges for cultivating critical thinking skills in 21st-century education. This study introduces the Cyber Scientific Approach (CSA), an instructional model that integrates the scientific method with guided cyber exploration to promote inquiry-based, student-centered learning in Fiqh classrooms. Employing a mixed-methods design, the research involved 60 senior secondary students across three grade levels, combining qualitative data from classroom observations and interviews with quantitative analysis of pre-test and post-test assessments using FRISCO indicators. CSA was implemented through a seven-stage process encompassing Observation, Questioning, Cyber Exploration, Association, Experimentation, Communication, and Conclusion. The findings demonstrate moderate but consistent improvements in students’ critical thinking skills across all grades, evidenced by statistical gains and enhanced classroom engagement. This study offers a structured pedagogical framework that aligns the normative foundations of Islamic jurisprudence with contemporary cognitive and digital competencies. It contributes to advancing Islamic education by providing an empirically grounded model for integrating critical thinking and technology in value-laden curricula.

Abstract

Abstract

Objective: This study evaluates the effectiveness of the Professional Hajj and Umrah Guide Certification Education and Training Program as a quality assurance mechanism for manasik guidance in Indonesia. The research responds to the critical need to ensure that guides possess not only administrative qualifications but also professional, pedagogical, and spiritual competencies amid the increasing complexity of Hajj management. Using a descriptive quantitative approach, data were collected from 374 program alumni through questionnaires, interviews, document analysis, and pre- and post-tests. The study applies a comprehensive evaluation framework integrating the CIPPO (Context, Input, Process, Product, Outcome) model with Kirkpatrick’s four-level evaluation (Reaction, Learning, Behavior, Result). Data analysis employed descriptive statistics, paired sample t-tests, and qualitative triangulation. Results indicate high relevance and effectiveness across all evaluation aspects. A significant improvement in participants’ competencies was confirmed by the paired sample t-test ($t = -16.853$; $p < 0.05$), despite a modest score increase due to rigorous assessment standards. Overall, the program effectively enhances the scientific, spiritual, and professional competence of certified guides and strengthens national quality assurance for Hajj and Umrah guidance services. Novelty: This study establishes a novel approach to Islamic education evaluation by successfully integrating the macro-level CIPPO framework with the micro-level Kirkpatrick model to assess professional da‘wah training. Unlike previous studies that focus purely on the administrative or theological aspects of Hajj, this research offers a new, standardized quality assurance paradigm that redefines Hajj and Umrah certification as a structured, measurable model of professional da‘wah education.

Abstract

Talfiq in the perspective of the Islamic jurisprudence school of thought is one of the classic issues that continues to experience actualization in contemporary Islamic legal discourse, especially amidst the social dynamics and complexity of religious issues faced by modern Muslims. This study aims to analyze the concept of talfiq in the perspective of the Islamic jurisprudence school of thought, examine the forms of controversy and legitimacy of talfiq according to classical and contemporary scholars, and implement it in fiqh learning with a Contextual Learning approach for students at As-Syafi'iyah Islamic University. The contextual learning approach was chosen because of the emphasis on the relationship between open material and the reality of students' lives, so that the study of talfiq does not stop at the normative-theoretical level, but can be applied in the context of actual religious problems, such as worship, muamalah, and modern socio-religious problems. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study method, which focuses on the study of fiqh learning practices at As-Syafi'iyah Islamic University as a case unit. This case study confirms that contextual-based talfiq learning significantly contributes to shaping students' academic attitudes toward moderation, criticality, and responsibility in addressing differing Islamic jurisprudence views in the contemporary era. The results demonstrate that the application of a contextual learning approach to talfiq learning can help students understand the dynamics of differences in schools of thought more comprehensively and proportionately.
