Abstract

The subsidized fertilizer distribution program through farmer card (Kartu Tani), initiated since 2016, requires evaluation and improvement in its implementation. The use of subsidized fertilizers must be precise in its dose and timing in order to increase productivity.  The purpose of this study is to analyze the level of satisfaction of farmers with the farmer cardprogram related to subsidized fertilizers. This research employs the survey method. The location was determined by purposive sampling with five urban villages based on the number of distributed cards and each of them represents three regions; lowlands, midlands, and uplands. The respondents to this study were 100 people; 20 people from each urban village were selected using the random sampling method. The data were taken using the interview method based on questionnaires distributed to farmers. The collected data was then analyzed using the Importance Performance Analysis (IPA) and Customer Satisfaction Index (CSI) methods. The results showed that most of the farmers who received the card in Kendal Regency were predominantly male, had high school education, and with an average land ownership of 0.5-1.0 hectares. The IPA analysis showed that in quadrant I (8 attributes need improvement), quadrant II (there are 16 achievement attributes that need to be maintained), quadrant III (11 low priority attributes) and quadrant IV (7 redundant attributes). Farmers' satisfaction with the farmer card program is at 71.69%, which is in the range of 61%-80.99%. In other words, the farmers are satisfied with the farmer ard services provided by the government.

Abstract

Farmers, producers, and other parties involved in the agricultural production chain of vegetable commodities place a high value on knowing consumer preferences when making decisions on developing and manufacturing agricultural food products. This study aims to investigate consumer behavior and identify information on consumer preferences for both fresh and processed (frozen) potatoes. The study was conducted in Semarang City, using a survey method. Purposive sampling method was employed to recruit 100 respondents, aged above 21 years, residents of Semarang City, and had consumed at least fresh and/or frozen potatoes in the last month. A questionnaire using Google Forms was employed to gather data online. It was distributed via social media platforms. The data collected was analyzed by descriptive and conjoint analysis. The results showed that the most frequent consumption was once a week with regular types of fresh potatoes being consumed; the respondents' spending on potato consumption was ≤ IDR 25,000/ month, and they consumed ≤2 kg of potatoes per week. Potato consumer preferences showed that the fresh potato attributes most liked by consumers are large tuber size, smooth skin, and ≤5 lateral buds, with the number of lateral bud attributes being the most prioritized. The most preferred attributes for frozen potatoes are a straight form, priced at IDR 39,000 to 58,000, batter-coated flavor, 801-1000 gr size packaging, and branded, with the shape attribute being the most prioritized. These findings suggest that farm producers can develop innovative potato varieties with fewer lateral buds and shapes for frozen potatoes.

Abstract

This study aimed to examine the influential factors that lead to the profitability of Tuzamurane Cyeza Cooperative members in Muhanga District, Rwanda. The assessment was carried out with a survey method using 120 respondents who were selected using purposive sampling. The respondents comprised 60 cooperative members and 60 non-cooperative members who were maize farmers, while 6 local leaders and staff of Tuzamurane Cyeza Cooperative were used as key informants. Data were then collected using questionnaires and interviews, followed by assessment using profitability calculation and multiple regression analysis. The assessment was carried out to analyze the effect of the independent variables (price of maize seeds, price of fertilizers, price of pesticides, wage of labor, maize production, and land lease price) on the dependent variable (the profitability of cooperative members of Tuzamurane Cyeza). The results showed that the profitability of 60 members was 13.8%, while a value of 4.9% was obtained for non-cooperative members. The value of the F-Critical (2.26) was less than the F-calculated (7.200) and the P-value (0.009) was below the significant level (0.05). This showed that the model developed in this study could be used in predicting the contribution of independent variables to the dependent variable. This study also showed that 1 coefficient (maize production) had a positive relationship with Tuzamurane Cyeza Cooperative members, while 5 coefficients (price of maize seeds, price of fertilizers, price of pesticides, wages of labor, land lease price) had an inverse association. Based on the results, all independent variables had an impact on the profitability.

The rehabilitation of inmates faces challenges in providing training due to limited time. This prompted the implementation of ecoprint training, which has a short production time. The purpose of this study is to evaluate ecoprint training using tea for inmates. The method used is action research, with a total of 30 female inmate respondents. The analysis employed is the Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test and N-gain test. The results showed a significant difference between pretest and posttest in knowledge, with an average increase of 0.94, classified as high. A total of 93% of the respondents, or 28 out of 30 participants, fell into the high category. This indicates that the tea-based ecoprint training is highly effective in increasing the knowledge of inmates.

Abstract

The development of the digital age today is developing very rapidly. One aspect that has an impact on the development of digital is micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (UMKM) in Kelurahan Rowosari Prefecture, Tembalang, the city of Semarang. The UMKM in Kelurahan Rowosari has several products that are processed on a domestic scale; one of its products is chips, padi scrubbing, banana bread, and others. The output of the UMKM Kelurahan Rowosari is managed directly by the community that has previously been registered in the Rowosari Keluradan UMKM. The vendor's way of opening stores and receiving orders from customers, as well as the production tools used, are still simple and use the process manually. Besides, the operators are not synergistic and integrated, so the productivity rate is low and less effective. Another obstacle is the limited knowledge of UMKM enterprises in marketing and the fact that they have not applied appropriate technology and information technology to market their products. The target reach of this dedication activity is to increase output and compete with other producers by leveraging digital transformation to expand the market area through online media. Besides, the entrepreneur has the ability to conduct transactions and communicate with customers.
