Abstract

Yard land in urban areas has not been utilized for the cultivation of vegetables that are productive and economically profitable. This service program aims to improve the knowledge and skills of PKK members in verticultural and hydroponic vegetable cultivation. Thus, the members can use their yard more productively. The method used in this community service program is training, which consists of counseling as well as demonstrations and practice. Counseling is about the cultivation of vegetable plants vertically and hydroponically has increased the knowledge of participants, from initially not knowing about verticulture to know. The demonstration/practice of growing vegetables the next day made the participants better understand what was delivered in the previous counseling. This encourages the improvement of mothers' skills in growing vegetables vertically and hydroponically. This additional knowledge and skills encourage participants to practice in their own homes.

Abstract

Fruit cultivation in pots is a solution for people who want to grow fruit in a narrow yard, such as in Gesik Village, Tengah Tani District, Cirebon Regency. The training was held with the aim of increasing the knowledge and skills of the members of the Gesik Village Empowerment and Family Welfare Mover Team in the cultivation of fruit plants in a pot. The training consisted of counseling activities and demo/practice of fruit plant cultivation. The activity was held at the Gesik Village Hall on January 25 and February 1, 2020, which was attended by 25 participants. The participants were divided into groups based on their respective RW. Each group is tasked with planting and maintaining one type of fruit plant. To find out the development of plants, monitoring is carried out on 8 and 10 February 2020. At the time of monitoring, fertilizer practice is carried out on fruit plants in a pot. The results of the activity showed that the participants could practice the cultivation and maintenance of fruit plants in pots.

Abstract

Kopi merupakan komoditas yang bernilai ekonomi tinggi. Permintaan kopi sangat tinggi, baik untuk permintaan dalam negeri sendiri maupun untuk ekspor. Pada umumnya kopi dijual dalam bentuk kopi biji (greenbean), biji sangrai (roasting) dan kopi bubuk. Namun pada faktanya, pemasaran kopi local belum berjalan optimal yang tercermin dari rendahnya omset penjualan atau adanya kesulitan pemasaranan. Untuk itu diperlukan suatu upaya untuk dapat meningkatkan omset penjualan, khususnya untuk kopi lokal. Kegiatan pengabdian kepada masyarakat (PKM) ini bertujuan untuk melakukan sosialisasi tentang pentingnya penyusunan strategi pemasaran kopi local di kelompok tani “Sekar Manik” Desa Cibeureun Kecamatan Cilimus Kabupaten Kuningan Provinsi Jawa Barat. Pengabdian dilakukan pada bulan Desember 2021. Metode yang digunakan adalah analisis swot (streng, weaknesess, opportunities, treath). Hasil pengabdian menyimpulkan bahwa rumusan strategi pemasaran kopi lokal di Desa Cibeureum Kecamat at Cilimus Kabupaten Kuningan adalah strategi pertumbuhan melalui integrasi horizontal (sel 5). Implementasi dari strategi ini adalah peningkatan penjualan kopi lokal yang dapat ditempuh melalui beberapa cara, antara lain: memasuki segmen pasar baru, pemasaran secara online (digital marketing) dan diversifikasi produk. Adanya gambaran rumusan strategi tersebut diharapkan dapat meningkatkan kualitas sumberdaya petani dan sekaligus dapat membangkitkan semangat kelompok tani “Sekar Manik” untuk tetap memelihara dan meningkatkan produktifitas kopinya.

Abstract

Shallot (Allium ascalonicum) cv Bima Brebes is the cultivar that was most widely cultivated in shallot production centers on Java Island. The increasing rate of land use conversion from agricultural to non-agricultural land caused the shallot cultivation to be directed to marginal lands, including land with high salinity. This study aimed to determine the effect of the salinity level on the growth and yield of shallots and to determine the highest level of salinity that can be tolerated by shallots. This experiment was carried out from October to December 2022 at the Experimental Station of Swadaya Gunung Jati University. The location is located in Cirebon City, West Java, Indonesia. The research method used was the experimental method with a completely randomized design (CRD). The treatment was salt concentration consisted of 5 levels i.e., 0 ppm, 1250 ppm, 2500 ppm, 3750 ppm, and 5000 ppm. Each treatment was repeated 5 times so that there were 25 experimental units. Each experimental unit consisted of 10 polybags of shallot plants. The results showed that salt concentration significantly inhibits the growth and yield of shallot at all of the measured parameters i.e., plant height, number of leaves, root length, root volume, plant dry weight, plant growth rate, number of tubers, tuber diameter, fresh tuber weight, and dry tuber weight. The salt concentration of 1250 ppm is the tolerance limit for salinity stress for shallots.

Abstract

Weed control by weeding is the safest alternative but requires a lot of labor and costs. Therefore, knowledge about the critical period for soybean plants against weeds is necessary so that weeding can be done timely and efficiently. This study aimed to determine the effect of weeding time on the growth and yield of soybean and critical period to weeds. The study was conducted in Mekarjaya Village, Gantar District, Indramayu Regency, from September to December 2023. The experimental design was Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD). The treatments tested were the time of weeding which consisted of nine levels: weeds free, weeding at 3 weeks after planting (WAP), weeding at 4 WAP, weeding at 5 WAP, weeding at 6 WAP, weeding at 7 WAP, weeding at 8 WAP, B9 = not weeded. All treatments were repeated three time. The results showed that the time of weeding treatment had no significant effect on growth component but had a significant effect to yield components and yield of soybean. The time of weeding treatment showed that the critical period for soybean cultivar Dena 2 occurred at 0-9 WAP with a yield loss due to weed competition of 8.87% to 27%.

Abstract

Fruit appearance is one of the factors that determines fruit quality. Environmental influences can cause the appearance of guava fruit to become unattractive. Fruit wrapping is one effort to improve the quality of guava fruit. This research aims to determine the effect of different wrapping colors on the quality of guava cv. Kristal. The research was conducted in Gegesik Village, Ciawigebang District, Kuningan Regency from May to August 2023. The research method used was an experimental method with a completely randomized design. The treatment consisted of five wrapping colors (transparent, black, red, blue, and yellow) which were repeated five times. The variables observed were fruit skin color, fruit weight, fruit diameter, weight loss, fruit hardness, vitamin C content, and total soluble solids. The results showed that the color of the wrapper had an effect on all observed fruit quality variables. Black plastic provides higher fruit size, fruit hardness and total soluble solids than other colors.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of the proportion of coffee peel bokashi in the planting medium on the growth of papaya plant seedlings (Carica papaya L.) cv Calina. The research was conducted at the Faculty of Agriculture Screenhouse on Jalan Perjuangan, Cirebon City, at an altitude of 5 m above sea level. The research was conducted from May 2022 to June 2022. The experimental method used with a completely randomized design. The treatment consisted of 4 proportions of bokashi in the planting media, each of which was repeated 6 times so that there were 24 experimental units. Each experimental unit consisted of 10 polybags. The total papaya plant seeds used were 240 seeds. The treatments studied were: K0 = top soil, K1 = 250 g bokashi + 1 kg soil, K2 = 500 g bokashi + 1 kg soil, and K3 = 750 g bokashi + 1 kg soil. The results showed that the proportion of coffee peel waste bokashi significantly affected the growth of papaya plants. Using 500 g coffee skin waste bokashi in 1 kg of soil had the best effect on plant height, stem diameter, plant growth rate, number of leaves, root volume, root length, root ratio, and net assimilation rate. Abstract

This study aims to find out: (1) The cost of emping melinjo business. (2)   Business income emping melinjo. (3) What factors affect the business income of emping melinjo. The method used in this study is quantitative research method. The population in this study is emping melinjo business actors in Tuk Village, Kedawung District, Cirebon Regency. The sampling technique in this study was to use a simple random sampling technique as many as 52 business actors were sampled. The data analysis technique used are classical assumption test and multiple linear regression using SPSS 22 aplication. The results showed that: (1) The costs incurred for fixed costs and variable costs were RP 85,531/month and RP 16.302.433/month respectively with total costs of Rp 16.387.964/month and average receipts of Rp 19.119.519/month. (2) Average income of Rp 2.731.556/month and worth working on with an R/C ratio of 1.18. (3) Factors that affect emping melinjo business income are selling price, raw material price, and length of business. The results of this study are useful for emping melinjo business actors in order to increase business income.

Abstract

Biochar adalah hasil pirolisis dari bahan organik limbah pertanian yang digunakan sebagai ameliorant tanah. Pada penelitian ini diuji biochar dari berbagai bahan yang berbeda, untuk mengetahui pengaruhnya terhadap pertumbuhan dan hasil bawang merah kultivar Bima Brebes. Percobaan dilaksanakan di Desa Palir, Kabupaten Cirebon. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode eksperimen, rancangan percobaan yang digunakan adalah Rancangan Acak Kelompok. Perlakuan berbagai jenis biochar yang terdiri dari 6 taraf perlakuan meliputi kontrol, biochar tempurung kelapa, biochar ampas tebu, biochar brangkasan jagung, biochar limbah bambu dan biochar jerami padi. Semua perlakuan diulang 4 kali. Variabel yang diamati meliputi tinggi tanaman, jumlah daun, jumlah anakan, volume akar, bobot umbi basah per rumpun dan per petak, serta bobot umbi kering per rumpun dan per petak. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa berbagai jenis biochar berpengaruh nyata terhadap pertumbuhan dan hasil bawang merah. Bahan baku biochar yang terbaik pengaruhnya terhadap pertumbuhan dan hasil tanaman bawang merah adalah brangkasan jagung.

Abstract

Background. Mucuna pruriens and Canavalia ensiformis are two types of legumes that can be utilized as plant-based protein sources to replace soybeans. However, these plants yield less than soybeans. Aim. This study aims to determine the effect of NPK fertilizer doses on the yield and quality of M. pruriens and C. ensiformis seeds. Methods. This research was conducted in Nanggela Village, Mandirancan District, Kuningan Regency, West Java, from June to November 2024. The experimental design used was a Randomized Block Design (RBD) with ten treatment combinations between two species of koro beans with NPK fertilizer doses (150, 225, 300, 375, and 450 kg ha-1). Result. The research results show that applying NPK fertilizer doses does not significantly affect the N, P, and K content in jack bean or velvet bean seeds, nor the total protein and fat content. Conclusion. The weight of pods per plot and the weight of seeds per plot were significantly influenced by the NPK fertilizer dosage and the species of koro. Implementation. Fertilizing using NPK efficiently can improve crop yields, soil quality, and the nutrients present in plants.
