Abstract

Background. The correlation between growth traits and yield is essential information in a plant breeding program. Jack bean and velvet bean are two legume species that have the potential to be a source of vegetable protein to replace soybeans. Aims. This study seeks to ascertain the relationship between growth component qualities and yield in jack and velvet beans subjected to varying amounts of NPK fertilizer. Methods. The research was conducted at Nanggela Village, Mandirancan District, Kuningan Regency, from June to November 2024. The administered treatments included of NPK fertilizer applications (150, 225, 300, 375, and 450 kg/ha) in conjunction with bean species (jack bean and velvet bean). The observed growth components included plant height, leaf count, stem diameter, root volume, root length, nodule count per plant, leaf area index, and relative growth rate. The observed yield components included the number of pods per plant, pod weight per plant, 100-seed weight, seed weight per plant, and seed weight per plot. The data were examined utilizing the Pearson Correlation Test to ascertain the strength of the association between growth components and yield, as well as yield components. Result. The research findings indicate a correlation among both species' stem diameter, root volume, leaf area index, pod weight, seed weight, seed count, and 100-seed weight. Conclusion. The yield components, including the number of pods per plot, the number of pods per plant, the weight of pods per plot, and the weight of pods per plant, are significantly correlated with the weight of 100 seeds and the weight of seeds per plot in the velvet bean. Implementation. The character of stem diameter and leaf area index can be used to select high-yielding koro plants. Indirect selection in jack bean can also be done through plant height and leaf number characteristics. In velvet beans, indirect selection can be carried out through yield component traits.

Abstract

ABSTRAKSalah satu upaya untuk mengentaskan kemiskinan adalah dengan pemberdayaan kaum perempuan. Untuk itu Pemerintah mencanangkan program terpadu Peningkatan Peranan Wanita Menuju Keluarga Sehat Sejahtera (P2WKSS). Dalam pelaksanaan P2WKSS bidang pertanian di Desa Gunungkarung Kecamatan Luragung, Kabupaten Kuningan, dilaksanakan kegiatan pembuatan kebun bibit desa dan kolam terpal ikan lele. Kegiatan tersebut dilaksanakan oleh Kelompok Wanita Tani (KWT) Kuntum Mekar. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan untuk mengetahui bagaimana tingkat partisipasi anggota KWT Kuntum Mekar dalam melaksanakan program pemberdayaan tersebut dan bagaimana hubungan antara tingkat partisipasi dengan keberhasilan program di bidang pertanian. Desain penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian kuantitatif dengan teknik survey deskriptif. Populasi dan sampel dalam penelitian ini adalah 20 orang anggota KWT Kuntum Mekar. Partisipasi diukur dalam empat tahap, yaitu tahap pengambilan keputusan, pelaksanaan, evaluasi, dan menikmati hasil. Keberhasilan program dianalisis pada dua kegiatan yaitu pembuatan kebun bibit desa dan kolam terpal ikan lele. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tingkat partisipasi anggota KWT Kuntum Mekar termasuk ke dalam katagori sangat tinggi sementara hubungan antara tingkat partisipasi dengan tingkat keberhasilan mempunyai korelasi yang positif nyata dengan kategori hubngan yang sangat kuat.Kata Kunci : bidang pertanian, kelompok Wanita tani, partisipasi, pemberdayaan

Abstract

Jack bean (Canavalia ensiformis L.) and velvet bean (Mucuna pruriens L.) are local legume species with significant potential as sources of plant-based protein. To date, both species have primarily been utilized as sources of animal feed, green manure, and cover crops. This study aims to evaluate the effects of NPK fertilizer on the growth and yield of the two legume species. The experiment was conducted in Nanggela Village, Mandirancan District, Kuningan Regency, from June to November 2024. The experimental design used was a Randomized complete block design with treatments combining legume species (Jack bean and velvet bean) with NPK fertilizer applied at rates of 150, 225, 300, 375, and 450 kg ha-1. The variables observed were plant height, number of leaves, stem diameter, root length, root volume, leaf area index, relative growth rate, net assimilation rate, number of pods per plot, number of seeds per pod, weight of 100 seeds, and weight of seeds per plot. The results showed that the combination of species and NPK fertilizer doses significantly affected the growth and yield of koro plants. The best results were obtained from the treatment of jack bean with a dose of NPK fertilizer of 300 kg ha-1.   ABSTRAK Kacang koro pedang (Canavalia ensiformis L.) dan koro benguk (Mucuna pruriens L.) merupakan spesies lokal yang memiliki potensi sebagai sumber protein nabati. Selama ini kedua spesies tersebut dimanfaatkan sebagai sumber pakan ternak, pupuk hijau, dan tanaman penutup tanah. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pupuk NPK terhadap pertumbuhan dan hasil dua spesies koro. Percobaan dilaksanakan di Desa Nanggela, Kecamatan Mandirancan, Kabupaten Kuningan pada bulan Juni sampai November 2024. Rancangan percobaan yang digunakan adalah Rancangan Acak Kelompok dengan perlakuan kombinasi antara spesies koro (koro pedang dan koro benguk) dengan dosis pupuk NPK (150, 225, 300, 375, dan 450 kg ha-1). Semua perlakuan diulang tiga kali sehingga terdapat 30 satuan percobaan. Variabel yang diamati adalah tinggi tanaman, jumlah daun, diameter batang, panjang akar, volume akar, indeks luas daun, laju pertumbuhan relatif, laju asimilasi bersih, jumlah polong per petak, jumlah biji per polong, bobot 100 butir biji, dan bobot biji per petak. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan kombinasi spesies koro dan dosis pupuk NPK berpengaruh nyata terhadap pertumbuhan dan hasil tanaman koro. Hasil terbaik diperoleh dari perlakuan koro pedang dengan dosis pupuk NPK 300 kg ha-1. Dalam budidaya koro pedang, disarankan untuk menggunakan pupuk NPK (16:16:16) dengan dosis 300 kg ha-1, sebagai upaya untuk menggantikan kedelai pada wilayah-wilayah di mana kedelai sulit tumbuh.   Kata kunci: Koro pedang, koro benguk, pertumbuhan, pupuk majemuk

Abstract

Background. One of the causes of low corn yields is the infestation of fall armyworms. Effective pest control techniques must consider the behavior of this pest. Therefore, it's essential to understand whether altitude influences the level of fallarmyworm infestation. Aims. This study aims to determine the relationship between altitude and the intensity of attacks and the intensity of damage caused by armyworms. Methods. The study was conducted at three different altitudes. Each altitude was represented by two villages, resulting in a total of six villages across two different regencies: Kuningan and Cirebon. The research method used was a survey with purposive sampling. Result. The study's results showed that altitude had a significant negative correlation with attack intensity, but not with damage intensity. Implementation. Fall armyworm control techniques will differ in different locations, depending on the altitude

Abstract

Salak (Salacca zalacca) is one of Indonesia’s important tropical fruits with high economic potential, both for domestic consumption and export. However, its short shelf life and rapid deterioration require proper postharvest handling, particularly determining the optimal harvest maturity. Harvest age strongly influences the physical and chemical quality of salak, which directly affects consumer acceptance and marketability. This study aimed to determine the effect of harvest age on the quality attributes of salak Pondoh fruit. The experiment was conducted in Cimara Village, Kuningan District, from April to August 2020, and continued with laboratory analysis until October 2020. The study used a completely randomized design (CRD) with seven harvest ages: 120, 130, 140, 150, 160, 170, and 180 days after pollination (DAP), each replicated four times, with a total of 224 fruits. Observations were carried out on fresh weight, weight loss after storage, fruit firmness, total soluble solids (TSS), and vitamin C content. Data were analyzed using analysis of variance (ANOVA) followed by the Least Significant Range (LSR) test at a 5% level. The results showed that harvest age significantly affected all measured parameters. Fruits harvested at 180 DAP had the highest fresh weight and lowest weight loss, while vitamin C content decreased with increasing maturity. Fruit firmness declined with later harvest, but TSS values increased, indicating higher sweetness. The best overall fruit quality was obtained at 180 DAP, where salak fruit displayed optimal size, sweetness, and acceptable firmness, despite reduced vitamin C levels. In conclusion, harvesting salak at 180 days after pollination provides the best balance of physical and chemical qualities to meet consumer preferences. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh kombinasi antara komposisi berbagai media tanam dan konsentrasi pupuk daun terhadap pertumbuhan bibit anggrek Dendrobium. Penelitian dilaksanakan di Green House Fakultas Pertanian, Universitas Winaya Mukti, Jalan Raya Bandung Sumedang No. 29, Gunungmanik, Tanjungsari, Kabupaten Sumedang, Provinsi Jawa Barat dari bulan Juni sampai September 2018. Bahan yang digunakan adalah bibit tanaman anggrek Dendrobium yang berumur 6 bulan setelah aklimatisasi, media tanam terdiri dari pakis, sabut kelapa dan arang serta pupuk daun gandasil. Metode penelitian yang digunakan yaitu menggunakan metode percobaan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL). Perlakuan terdiri dari atas 2 kombinasi antara media tanam  (pakis + arang ; pakis + sabut ; arang + sabut) dan kosentrasi pupuk daun (1, 2, 3 g/l). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa konsentrasi pupuk daun dan komposisi berbagai media tanam berpengaruh yang nyata terhadap tinggi tanaman terhadap tinggi tanaman ( 98 dan 112 HST),  jumlah daun (112 HST) diameter batang (70, 84 dan 112 HST), jumlah dan panjang akar tanaman anggrek. Kombinasi media tanam arang dan sabut kelapa dengan pemberian pupuk daun sebanyak 1 g/l merupakan kombinasi perlakuan tertinggi terhadap semua pengamatan.
