Abstract

Female circumcision is one of the continuing practices in some countries of Africa, Europe, Latin America, and Asia, including Indonesia. In Arab, tradition of female circumcision has been widely known before the Islamic period. While in Indonesia, some areas practicing female circumcision include Java, Madura, Sumatra, and Kalimantan. This research used qualitative-ethnographic method. Data were collected through in-depth interviews to the traditional birth attendants who performed circumcision and to the baby's parents who sent their children for circumcision. In addition, Focus Group Discussion (FGD) involving medical personnel (doctors and midwives), traditional birth attendants, the parents, community leaders, religious leaders, academics, and government, was also conducted to explore the data. Then, the obtained data were analyzed by using descriptive analytical technique. The result shows that the practice of female circumcision in Demak Regency was done in 2 ways, namely symbolically and truly. Symbolically means that the practice of female circumcision was done by not cutting a female genital part, ie clitoris, but using substitute media, namely turmeric. On the other hand, the real meaning means that female circumcision was actually done by cutting little tip of the clitoris of a daughter. The time for practicing female circumcision in Demak regency was generally coincided with Javanese traditional ceremonies for infants / young children. The purpose for the daughters was in order to become sholihah and be able to control their lusts (not become "ngintil kakung" or hypersexual). Indeed, the motivation to practice this tradition is to preserve the ancestral tradition and to implement the religious command._________________________________________________________Sunat perempuan merupakan salah satu praktik yang saat ini masih dilakukan di beberapa negara di Afrika, Eropa, Amerika Latin, dan juga di Asia, termasuk Indonesia. Abstract

Academics have not quantified the quantity and quality of research conducted on pesantren (Islamic boarding school), particularly concerning the development of digital technology. Indeed, the current pesantren trend has accelerated as a response to the development of online media. This article will analyze emerging research trends, mentor academics involved in pesantren’s research, and direct researchers. Additionally, this article discusses the most influential authors and journals in the area. The research aims to evaluate pesantren's research trends indexed in Scopus using bibliometric analysis software Publish or Perish and VOS Viewer. The study discovered that pesantren's research has shifted during the last decade. According to the data, scholars continue to study pesantren's research themes infrequently, as indicated by the indexation of only 61 publications by Scopus. The majority of researchers use a conventional approach to pesantren. As such, it is critical to conduct future research on the relationship between pesantren and the advancement of digital technology. Specifically, in the form of Kiai (teacher) or santri-based learning (student-based learning) models and the process of pesantren adaptation, as indicated by the establishment of numerous pesantren media platforms as centers for religious knowledge production and dissemination. Thus, pesantren will keep being the source of religious knowledge by adapting to tradition and technology.

Abstract

The development of Kampung Inggris in Tulungrejo Village, Pare, Kediri has attracted the wider community's attention. Social interaction between local communities and guest-students (language course participants) is an inevitable social process. Parsons's view of voluntaristic action illustrates that the actions taken by a person are based on the impulse of will, by heeding agreed values, ideas and norms. The qualitative mrthods are used to reveal in detail the voluntaristic action by local communities and guest-students. The results of this study indicate that interactions that exist between guest-students and the local community in Kampung Inggris Tulungrejo Village are relationships that influence each other, in which both parties get the benefit from this interaction whether they have the same purpose or not. The interaction between guest-students and the local community is the cooperation that is also established between the owners of the language course institutions with the government and local community of Kampung Inggris, Tulungrejo Village.

Abstract

The COVID-19 pandemic which has been running for two years has resulted in changes in work patterns for employees, both private and public. Due to consideration of preventing the spread of the COVID-19 virus, government agencies and private offices are imposing WFH (work from home). As a result, for working couples, the household arena becomes a joint work arena, in which formal and domestic work is carried out. This study aims to discuss the division of labor between husband and wife in the household before the pandemic; the division of labor during the pandemic, and the impact of the division of labor during WFH on the division of labor after the pandemic. The study used qualitative methods and field studies were analyzed using gender theory. Data collection is done by way of interviews, observation and documentation. This research found that there were three trends in relationship changes that were prior to the COVID pandemic, the division of labor was carried out based on the habits that had been built by the couple since they were married, namely families who had a commitment to work together since the beginning of the marriage, so with the pandemic this commitment made it stronger, but for families who do not have a commitment to gender relations, the work arena formed by the pandemic does not really affect gender relations. This finding reinforces the perspective that gender relations are socio-cultural formations so they are not easy to change

Abstract

This paper seeks to demonstrate that the integrated theory of planned behavior (TPB) and entrepreneurial orientation theory significantly influence the entrepreneurial intentions of women entrepreneurs in upper-middle-income countries, particularly in Indonesia. The research provides empirical evidence highlighting the combined effect of TPB and entrepreneurial orientation on women's motivation to engage in entrepreneurial activities. The findings emphasize the significance of subjective standards, offering essential recommendations for policymakers and educators seeking to foster female entrepreneurship in similar economic contexts. The study utilized a quantitative approach through a cross-sectional survey of 329 women entrepreneurs selected via convenience sampling. Data collection employed a standardized questionnaire, modified from previous studies, with responses assessed using a five-point Likert scale. Analytical methods included partial least squares structural equation modelling (PLS-SEM) to assess both measurement and structural models. The findings indicate that the components of TPB and entrepreneurial orientation considerably impact entrepreneurial intentions, with subjective norms having the most substantial effect. The study provides practical recommendations for policymakers and organizations that help entrepreneurs, highlighting the importance of enhancing social support for women entrepreneurs through initiatives such as mentorship programs and entrepreneurship training. These proposals seek to promote entrepreneurial advancement among women in Indonesia and other countries with comparable economic characteristics.

Abstract

The effectiveness of an organization’s work program often hinges on the leader’s capacity to manage and direct the organization. This study examines the entrepreneurial leadership demonstrated by LAZISNU in the Doro District in its efforts to enhance organizational independence. A qualitative descriptive case study approach was employed, with data collected using triangulation of data sources, methods, and theories to ensure the validity and reliability of the findings. The analysis reveals that LAZISNU Doro, Pekalongan, Indonesia exhibits an entrepreneurially oriented leadership model, characterized by proactively fostering organizational commitment through the alignment of vision and mission to cultivate a positive work culture; implementing innovative and collaborative programs by leveraging social influence from community leaders and women's religious organizations (Muslimat and Fatayat Nahdlatul Ulama) to enhance productivity; taking strategic risks through partnerships that support community services and member skill development; and upholding organizational integrity and religious values to build public trust. These findings contribute to the empirical literature on religious organizational development, confirming that modern entrepreneurial principles are not only applicable to for-profit ventures but are also instrumental in the success of non-profit organizations. The case of LAZISNU Doro illustrates how effective leadership in non-profit settings can serve as a catalyst for community empowerment and socio-economic transformation
