Abstract

Abstract

Leaders who effectively apply a leadership style can realize their goals by providing motivation. The purpose of this research is to find out and obtain information about the leadership style of school principals and teacher work motivation at SMKN 6 Padang. This research is quantitative research with a correlational approach. The research population is 100 teachers at SMKN 6 Padang, while the sample in this study was 50 teachers taken using Proportional Stratified Random Sampling calculated using the Slovin formula. The instrument used was a Likert Scale model questionnaire with five alternative answers whose results were valid and reliable. Analysis in this research uses the SPSS 24.0 program to process and analyze normality, linearity and significance tests of the relationship between the two variables. The results of this research indicate that there is a positive and significant relationship between leadership style and teacher work motivation, which means that the principal's leadership style has a positive and significant relationship with teacher work motivation. The implication of the results of this research is to increase work motivation through the principal's leadership style, namely increasing the task-oriented leadership style of the principal. In addition, the results of this study show that the interpretation of the principal's leadership style towards subordinates is greater than the interpretation of the principal's task-oriented leadership style.

Abstract

The management of School Operational Assistance (BOS) funds is a crucial aspect that supports the teaching and learning process in schools. BOS is designed to provide the necessary funds so that schools can meet basic operational needs to effectively and efficiently achieve national education goals. Before determining the financial management strategy for the school, there are certainly several issues that pose challenges in effectively managing BOS funds, among which the common problems include delays in the disbursement of BOS funds to the parties/fields that support learning, BOS funds that are distributed still do not meet the routine educational needs of the school, and the improper targeted use of BOS funds so that education in the school does not improve, as well as the lack of knowledge among stakeholders regarding the mechanisms for utilizing funds provided by the government, resulting in the suboptimal use of BOS funds which is often ineffective and inefficient in an educational institution. This research employs a literature review approach based on previous scholarly journals that focus on efforts to achieve financial efficiency and effectiveness in schools. Through this literature study approach, this research identifies general theories in effective BOS fund management strategies. The analysis results show that there are several effective strategies that can be used in the management of School Operational Assistance (BOS) funds from the government for schools, including: systematic planning of fund usage, improving the quality of teaching staff, increasing access to and quality of educational facilities, purchasing teaching materials and learning resources, developing the curriculum, and encouraging student and parental involvement. The strategy for managing School Operational Assistance (BOS) aims to achieve efficiency and effectiveness in school finances, thereby enhancing the quality of education in Indonesia.

Abstract

This study aims to gather data and information regarding teachers' perceptions of the leadership of the driving principal in State Junior High Schools, focusing on various key aspects. The leadership of the principal is evaluated in terms of teacher development and the improvement of learning quality, effective school management, the creation of a positive school culture, and continuous monitoring and evaluation. Understanding how teachers perceive their principal's leadership is crucial for identifying areas of strength and potential improvement in school management practices. This research is quantitative and descriptive, with a population of 270 teachers. The sample size was determined using the Slovin formula, employing the Proportionate Random Sampling technique, resulting in a sample of 76 teachers. The research instrument used was validated and proven reliable. The results showed that teacher development and the improvement of learning quality were well-implemented, as were effective school management and the creation of a positive school culture. Continuous monitoring and evaluation were also found to be effectively implemented. The overall results indicate that teachers have a positive perception of the leadership of the driving principal, with an average score of 4.3, suggesting that the leadership approach is being carried out effectively across all evaluated areas.

Abstract

Low levels of student engagement and learning motivation have led to limited critical thinking skills, which in turn have affected students’ learning outcomes that remain below the Minimum Mastery Criteria (MMC). This study aims to determine whether students who received instruction through the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model achieved higher mathematics learning outcomes than those taught using the conventional (lecture-based) model on the topic of Relations and Functions. This research employed a quasi-experimental method with a pretest–posttest control group design. Population consisted of eighth-grade students from SMP Negeri 3 Tondano, while the samples were class VIII-A (22 students) as the experimental group and class VIII-B (17 students) as the control group. The research instrument comprised written essay tests administered as pretests and posttests in both groups. Data were analyzed using inferential statistical procedures. Data were first tested for normality using the Liliefors test, followed by a homogeneity test (F-test). After both assumptions were met, an independent samples t-test (two-tailed) was performed to test the hypothesis. The results showed a statistically significant difference in mathematics learning outcomes between students who learned through the PBL model and those taught using the conventional lecture-based method. Therefore, it can be concluded that the implementation of the PBL model effectively enhances students’ mathematics learning outcomes on the topic of Relations and Functions, providing evidence that active, problem-oriented instruction can improve students’ conceptual understanding and achievement in mathematics.
