Abstract

In the globalization era, increasingly fierce industrial competition demands the optimization of allavailable resource to produce high quality products, so the companies can compete with others, aswell as for human resources. Nowadays, most of the jobs are done digitally, but not all workers inthe industry have digital skills. The same condition happens in the Indonesian Architecture,Engineering, and Construction (AEC) sector. Even though it has made a major contribution to thedevelopment of Indonesian industry, the digital skills of its human resources are still weak. Thecompetition in the world of architecture is getting harder. It is inevitable that free competition willlead architects into laws of nature, which means that architecture graduates with better abilities cansurvive dan able to adapt to the demands of space, time and technology. Likewise, skills in 3-dimentional modelling in the world of construction. This ability is quite important in the worldconstruction or the world of architectural consulting, as a way to visualize designs in an attractiveway. One of the applications that provides 3D modelling features is Rhinoceros. The results obtainedin this community service are a media publication, collaboration between Malikussaleh Universityand architecture alumni in Lhokseumawe city, and publication in a scientific journal. Abstract

Energy consumption in buildings plays a crucial role in determining efficiency and environmental impact. Natural ventilation offers a solution to reduce energy consumption by utilizing outdoor airflow to enhance thermal comfort without significant energy use. This study examines the effects of weather conditions, including temperature, humidity, and wind speed, on the thermal comfort of occupants in naturally ventilated buildings with single-sided openings. Data were collected through measurements of indoor and outdoor weather conditions over 21 days and a perception survey involving 138 respondents, using randomly selected questionnaires. The results indicate that indoor temperature is highly influenced by incoming wind flow, with a strong correlation between outdoor relative humidity and indoor temperature (R = 0.90). A majority of respondents (90.58%) expressed a preference for cooler indoor conditions, indicating discomfort within the building. The study also found consistency in user thermal comfort preferences based on the Thermal Sensation Vote (TSV) and Thermal Comfort Vote (TCV) scales. Recommendations include further investigations into variations in window size, window orientation, and the impact of solar radiation to improve indoor temperature and humidity control, enhancing thermal comfort for building occupants.

Abstract

Langsa is one of the city that was once colonized by the Dutch in 1877-1942. During the Dutch colonial period, Langsa was used as a transit point (command post), so that many Dutch government officials settled in Langsa. Within in a short of time Langsa became a big city, all kinds of infrastructure were built and filled with typical Dutch architectural heritage. Nowadays, most of these buildings are neglected and start to lose its historical values. This phenomena happened because of lack appreciation of the local community for the existence of historical buildings, some of them have been damaged and demolished, so that their authenticity is no longer visible. There are several buildings from the Dutch colonial heritage in Langsa that are still standing strong today, namely the Museum, Hall, Satpol PP and WH offices, Post Office, SDN 1 School and Istiqamah Mosque. All of these Dutch colonial heritage buildings are located in one adjacent area and are still well used by the community, some of them have been converted into new function. One of the buildings whose Dutch colonial authenticity and characteristics are very visible is the museum building which is located in the city center. At First this building functioned as the headquarters of the Dutch army, after experiencing several changes in function, in 2019 this building was inaugurated as a museum by the Langsa City Education and Culture Office (Disdikbud). This research is using a descriptive qualitative research through literature studies, interviews and field observations. The purpose of this research are to study and identify further the facade of the Langsa City Museum. The results of this study are expected to be useful as data and guidelines for the government and other parties in planning physical improvements so that the original elements of colonial buildings would not disappear.

Abstract

Global warming and the energy crisis are the biggest problems in the world today, many efforts must be made to avoid them. One of them is by continuing to increase the implementation of energy efficient buildings. In Indonesia, energy-efficient buildings must meet the requirements set out in SNI 03-6389-2020 where the maximum limit for the OTTV (Overall Thermal Transfer Value) value is 35 Watt/m² and has been enforced by the Government from now on. However, these requirements have not been fully fulfilled by investors, as well as planning agencies or consulting units. There are still many buildings whose OTTV value is not yet known. As is the case with the object of this research, namely the Lhokseumawe Mayor's Office building. This research aims to calculate and determine the OTTV value for the research object of the Lhokseumawe Mayor's Office building, so that later it will be known whether the building is categorized as an energy efficient building or not. The research method used is an experimental quantitative method using the OTTV Microsoft Excel spreadsheet calculator from the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (BGH-PUPR). The results of this research analysis show that the Lhokseumawe Mayor's Office building has many large openings and has sunlight fenestration, so that the overall OTTV value on the building envelope is below the SNI standard threshold of 35 Watt/m² and can be categorized as an energy efficient building.

Abstract

The laboratory is a place used for practicum, research, and can support the teaching and learning process. The mechanical engineering laboratory space is the most important space and is often used to support study activities in the mechanical engineering department of the university. However, laboratory conditions that do not use air conditioning and only rely on natural ventilation result in the lack of thermal comfort for users to comfortably support user activities. Apart from that, the high temperatures produced by heat through metal roofs from exposure to sunlight, equipment machines that emit hot temperatures, as well as the small amount of incoming and outgoing air flow are the objectives of selecting objects in this research. Thermal comfort is influenced by several variables, namely external, internal factors and air opening design. This research uses a mix method, namely qualitative and quantitative research methods with a descriptive approach. The results of this research are in the form of an analysis which shows that the thermal conditions of the four laboratory rooms do not meet the thermal comfort standards set by ASHRAE with conditions being above the comfort zone and the PMV comfort index cannot be said to be comfortable because there is no wind blowing into the building.

Abstract

Natural lighting (Daylighting) is the use of natural light as the main source of sunlight for lighting. In an educational environment, the classroom is the space that is most frequently used compared to other spaces. Therefore, adequate lighting is needed to support teaching and learning activities inside. Based on observations at SMA N-1 Tanjung Pura, classrooms tend to have low lighting levels, which are influenced by factors such as vegetation, surrounding buildings and limited land. This research aims to analyze the effectiveness of natural lighting, especially the natural lighting factor (daylight factor), in the classrooms of SMA N-1 Tanjung Pura in accordance with the SNI standard SNI 03-6197-2020, which sets a lighting level of 350 Lux. The research method uses computer simulation with Dialux Evo 11.1 software. The research results show that some classrooms do not meet the standards because they have lighting levels that are lower or higher than those specified in the standards.
