Abstract

The purpose of this study is to explore the levels of innovative thinking, growth, and a fixed mindset among higher education students in Indonesia. This study also examined the association between mindset and innovative ideas. This cross-sectional study involved 294 students from 2 higher education institutions. Descriptive statistics, t-test, and regression analysis were employed to analyse the data. The results of this study suggest that most students tend to generate new ideas frequently. Students in the health program have lower growth beliefs, growth practices, and effort, and firmer fixed beliefs than students in another program. A growth mindset significantly predicts the generation of innovative ideas. This study contributes to the literature review and teaching practice.

Abstract

Students with intellectual disabilities generally face significant challenges in mathematics, such as number recognition, counting, sequencing, basic arithmetic operations, and other functional numeracy tasks, due to their limited memory, abstract reasoning, and information processing speed.  This study aims to develop the Smart Box Edu learning tool to help students with intellectual disabilities improve their abilities in number recognition, counting, and performing basic operations in mathematics. The study employed the Research and Development (R&D) method using a simplified Borg & Gall model, comprising the following stages: needs analysis, design, development, expert validation, practicality testing, and effectiveness testing. Validation results indicated the medium falls into the “highly suitable” category, with an 88% score from the media expert and a 90% score from the content expert, yielding an average of 89%. The practicality test conducted by two teachers yielded an average score of 89%, while student engagement reached 87%, indicating that the media is highly practical and engaging to use. Effectiveness was assessed through a pretest–posttest on 8 students with moderate and mild intellectual disabilities, with the average score increasing from 40.5 to 77.8, representing a 92% improvement. The N-Gain calculation of 0.63 indicates a moderate level of effectiveness. The study concluded that the Smart Box Edu is a viable, practical, and effective multisensory numeracy tool capable of improving the focus, motivation, and conceptual understanding of numeracy among students with intellectual disabilities. This tool is recommended for use in special education schools and for further development to include other mathematics topics.

Abstract

Abstract. This paper explains how the learning process from home is carried out during the pandemic era and how it will impact the future of education. The approach in this research is qualitative with the literature review method. But to strengthen the data, this study also uses interviews. In this pandemic era four obstacles were discovered, firstly the readiness of devices and networks, the cost of the internet network and the digital literacy capabilities of parents and teachers. In addition, learning done from home through online during the pandemic era had an impact on the future of  ducation in Indonesia. The learning experience in the pandemic era is increasingly a sign that it is not a single school or college that determines success. The decisive digital era is creativity and digital literacy, second, the class will be more flexible than ever which does not always require students to always come physically to school, and finally the stronger academic inflation, where degrees are no longer a sign of prestige.

Abstract

Writing skills are an essential competency in Indonesian language learning; however, teaching observational report writing continues to face challenges, including low student engagement, limited understanding of the material, and difficulties in generating ideas. This study aimed to develop a multiliteracy-based flipbook and evaluate its feasibility, effectiveness, and students’ responses as a digital teaching material for observational report writing. The study employed a Research and Development approach using the Four-D model, consisting of the define, design, develop, and disseminate stages. Data were collected through expert validation, pretests, posttests, classroom observations, and student response questionnaires. The findings revealed that the flipbook achieved an average expert validation score of 89.59%, indicating that it was highly feasible for classroom implementation. Students’ average writing scores improved from 71 on the pretest to 84 on the posttest. In addition, teacher and student learning activities each reached 97%, categorized as very good, while student responses reached 81%, indicating positive acceptance. These findings suggest that the multiliteracy-based flipbook is a feasible and effective digital teaching material that enhances students’ writing skills, promotes active learning, and supports the integration of multiliteracy pedagogy in Indonesian language instruction.

Abstract

This research begins from the low student’s learning result, because in the mathematic’s learning process students aren’t actively involved and learning process more focus to teacher (teacher centered), so teacher more dominates and becomes the center of attention in learning activity. This proves that less effective learning process at school. The purpose of this research is looking for the effectivity of mathematics learning using statistic ball media with inquiry model at mathematics learning VIII class junior high school spesifically for statistic lesson. Type of this research is descriptive quantity research. Research design used one group pretest posttest design. Research sample is 30 students class VIII-C Muhammadiyah 15 Junior High School, Surabaya. Research data is observation to find out students activities and teachers ability to manage learning, questionnaire to find out student’s response, and test question in the form of essay for measure mathematic ability on statistic learning. The result of this research shows that teacher’s ability on manage learning get a very good category, student’s activity get a very active criteria, completeness of student’s learning result shows that 80% from all students reach KKM. Student’s response to this mathematics learning, students show a positive response. So, application of mathematic learning models used statistic ball media with inquiry model effective use on mathematic learning at student grade VIII-C Muhammadiyah 15 Junior High School, Surabaya.
