Abstract

Potatoes (Solanum tuberosum L.) are one of the horticultural commodities that have an important role as a food source. The purpose of this study is to determine the nutrient absorption of Nitrogen, Phosphorus and potato tuber products at various doses of natural phonska in the dry land of Sembalun East Lombok. The method used in this study is an experimental method by conducting field experiments that test various doses of natural phonska fertilizer. With fertilizer doses of P0 0 kg/ha, P1 800 kg/ha, P2 1,200 kg/ha, P3 1,600 kg/ha and the use of mulch on potato plants (Solanum tuberosum L.). This research was carried out from March to August 2024, in Sajang Village, Sembalun District on land owned by PT Sembalun Kusuma Emas (SKE). The application of natural phonska and mulch has a real effect on the absorption of nutrients from Nitrogen and Phosphorus. The application of phonska 1,600 kg/ha with mulch application (P3M1) yielded the best absorption value, namely, Nitrogen 1.70 gr/ton and Phosphorus 0.21 gr/ton. The application of natural phonska fertilizer and mulch has a real effect on the number of leaves of potato plants, especially at the age of 3 and 7 weeks after planting (MST). The application of natural phonska fertilizer and the use of mulch have a real effect on the yield of potato plants. The application of phonska 1,600 kg/ha with the application of mulch (P3M).

Abstract

Rendahnya produktivitas padi di Desa Banyu Urip, Kecamatan Gerung, Lombok Barat, disebabkan oleh penerapan sistem pertanian konvensional dan penggunaan pupuk kimia yang tidak berimbang sehingga menurunkan efisiensi lahan serta kesuburan tanah. Program Pengabdian kepada Masyarakat ini bertujuan meningkatkan produktivitas padi melalui pendampingan teknis penerapan pola pemupukan berimbang dan terpadu pada varietas padi genjah M70D dalam rangka mendukung program IP400. Kegiatan dilaksanakan melalui tahapan sosialisasi, pelatihan, pembuatan pupuk organik, penerapan teknologi di lahan percontohan (demplot), pendampingan, dan evaluasi. Teknologi yang diintroduksikan mencakup, penggunaan pupuk organik dari kotoran sapi dengan bioaktivator EM4 dan MOL, sistem tanam SRI, kombinasi pupuk organik–anorganik secara berimbang, serta pemanfaatan varietas padi M70D berumur panen ±70 hari. Hasil kegiatan menunjukkan peningkatan pengetahuan petani terhadap konsep pemupukan berimbang dan sistem tanam SRI, kemampuan produksi pupuk organik mandiri hingga 4 kwintal, serta penerapan budidaya padi berkelanjutan pada lahan tadah hujan dengan irigasi tenaga surya. Varietas M70D berpotensi meningkatkan produktivitas padi hingga 9–10 ton/ha dan mendukung peningkatan IP menuju 400 dan pemahaman petani terhadap teknologi ini mencapai lebih dari 80%. Hasil evaluasi program ini menunjukkan bahwa program ini akan dilanjutkan guna memberikan kesempatan kepada petani untuk melihat hasil yang lebih optimal selama minimal 3-4 tahun kedepan. Program ini juga mendorong kemandirian petani dalam pengelolaan lahan dan penggunaan pupuk ramah lingkungan untuk pertanian berkelanjutan. Technical Assistance on Balanced and Integrated Fertilization Practices for M70D Rice Cultivation under the IP400 Program in Paddy Field of Banyu Urip, West Lombok Regency Abstract The low rice productivity in Banyu Urip Village, Gerung District, West Lombok, is caused by the implementation of conventional farming systems and the unbalanced use of chemical fertilizers, which reduce land efficiency and soil fertility. This Community Service Program aims to increase rice productivity through technical assistance in implementing balanced and integrated fertilization patterns on the M70D variety in order to support the IP400 program. Activities are carried out through stages of socialization, training, producing organic fertilizers, implementing technology in demonstration plots, mentoring, and evaluation. The technologies introduced include the use of organic fertilizer from cow dung with EM4 and MOL bioactivators, the SRI planting system, a balanced combination of organic-inorganic fertilizers, and the use of the M70D rice variety with a harvest age of ±70 days. The results of the activities show an increase in farmers' knowledge of the concept of balanced fertilization and the SRI planting system by more than 80%, the ability to produce independent organic fertilizers of up to 4 quintals, and the implementation of sustainable rice cultivation on rain-fed land with solar-powered irrigation. The M70D variety has the potential to increase rice productivity and support an increase in the rice yield index (PI) towards 400. This program also encourages farmer independence in land management and the use of environmentally friendly fertilizers for sustainable agriculture.

Abstract

Low nutrient retention and soil organic matter depletion are the major challenges of the cropping system in the sandy loam soils of Northern Lombok, Indonesia. A field experiment was conducted to evaluate the influence of biochar-based organic amendments on the soil quality of sandy loam soils under cassava (Manihot Esculenta, Crants)–peanut (Arachis Hypogeae L.) cropping sequence. The treatments were as follows: biochar (10 ton ha-1) and rice straw  (3 ton ha-1)  (B1);  biochar  (10 ton ha-1), cattle manure (10 ton ha-1), and rice straw (3 ton ha-1) (B2);  biochar (10 ton ha-1)  and cattle manure (10 ton ha-1) (B3);  biochar (10 ton ha-1) and cattle manure (10 ton ha-1) plus rice straw mulch (3 ton ha-1) applied on surface soils (B4),  and without organic amendments (B0) as control. Results showed that the biochar-based organic amendments significantly improved several soil quality indicators such as SOC, total N, available P, Ca, cation-exchange capacity (CEC), and aggregate stability but had no significant effect on pH, K, and Mg. Improvement in soil quality was strongly indicated by an increase in the growth and yield of cassava and peanuts. Treatments B1, B2, B3, and B4 generally had a comparable effect on soil parameters and tended to improve the growth and yield of cassava and peanuts. Cassava was responsive to treatments B2 (biochar, cattle manure, and rice straw) and B3 (biochar and cattle manure) with its actual yield of 27 tons ha−1, which is a 40% increase compared with that in the control. As a secondary crop growing after cassava, peanuts also exhibited higher yields in all amended plots compared with that in the control. The highest yield was obtained in B2 (1.38 ton ha−1), followed by B4 (1.36 ton ha−1), B1 (1.33 ton ha−1), and B3 (1.25 ton ha−1). In conclusion, the incorporation of biochar, cattle manure, and crop residues (rice straw) into soils is a promising option to maintain soil quality and sustainably produce cassava and peanuts in the sandy loam soils of the semi-arid tropics of Lombok, Indonesia.

Abstract

Gili Air is part of a group of small islands without waste problems. Efforts to reduce and manage waste in Gili Air, Gili Indah Village, still need to be improved, considering that the potential for waste generation is still significant, especially organic waste, which is 55% of the total potential for waste generation. The potential for recycling waste on Gili Air shows a waste-carrying capacity index value of 0.20, which means it is lower than the generation potential. It impacts Gili Air's relatively low level of waste support. As a tourist destination, Gili Air produces solid waste from local communities and tourism activities. This community service activity aims to increase awareness of the community and business owners in the tourism sector in Gili Air to reduce the rate of daily waste generation by reducing and utilizing organic waste to be processed into solid or liquid compost. The method applied for community service on Gili Air is in the form of outreach and training, demonstrating the stages of composting using a simple process that is easy for local communities to implement. Based on the results of monitoring and evaluation of community service activities, there was an increase in understanding of community service participants. It is indicated by a decrease in the percentage of wrong answers from the questionnaire announced after the service activity (post-test). In the pre-test before receiving community service, it was discovered that 59% of people still answered the statement on the questionnaire wrong. However, wrong answers decreased to only 12% after socialization and training. Increasing understanding of the pre-and post-test statements shows that socialization and training can positively impact community empowerment in managing household waste into solid and liquid fertilizer.

Abstract

A single and long-term use of inorganic fertilizers harms soil quality. Therefore, it is highly recommended that inorganic fertilizers be combined with other fertilizers. This study explores the synergistic effect of inorganic, organic, and biofertilizers on maize rhizosphere properties and production. Biochar (BC) and compost (OF) were applied as organic sources, a consortium of phosphate solubilizing bacteria (PSB) was applied as phosphate biofertilizers, while urea and NPK-PONSKA fertilizers (IF) were used as inorganic fertilizers. A greenhouse experiment was designed as a completely randomized arrangement involving six treatments in triplicate, namely control (only IF), a combination of IF+BC, IF+PSB, IF+BC+PSB, IF+PSB+OF, and IF+BC+OF+PSB. The best changes in soil microbial and chemical properties, maize root dry weight, and production were observed in the IF+BC+OF+PSB combination, followed by IF+OF+PSB, IF+BC+PSB and (IF+BC; IF+PSB) and control treatment, respectively. A fertilizer combination involving the addition of BC (IF+BC, IF+BC+PSB, IF+BC+OF +PSB) significantly increased soil organic C content and soil pH compared to without biochar (IF+PSB and IF+OF+PSB). A higher root dry weight also results in higher maize production. Maize production Increased in the 4, 3, and 2 combinations compared to production in the control by 43.11%, 31.32-36.55%, and 18.57%-21.34%, respectively. In conclusion, the synergy of biochar, compost, and PSB, when integrated with fertilizer, can improve soil quality and the sustainability of maize production.
