Abstract

Plagiarism is intellectual criminal behaviour that uses or takes other people's quotes without citing the source. It can be caused by the lack of insight into plagiarism and the limited understanding of techniques to avoid plagiarism in scientific publications, especially for Arabic language teachers in Banten. Based on this analysis, a community service activity was carried out such as training/workshops for PBA teachers who are members of the Banten Province Arabic MGMP. The training/workshop will improve understanding, provide training on techniques to avoid plagiarism in writing OJS-based scientific papers, improve the professional competence of Arabic language teachers, and enrich Arabic research and learning. The methods applied in this activity are lecture discussions, followed by simulations/demonstrations, and last mentoring in practising the correct way of quoting to avoid plagiarism. This activity is proven to increase knowledge and technical skills to avoid plagiarism in scientific writing, which can be seen in the use of the Mendeley application.

Abstract

This study examined Anis Chouchène's poem Untitled through Michael Riffaterre's semiotic theory, employing heuristic and hermeneutic readings. It aimed to explore how ungrammaticalities in the poem generated deeper meanings. At the heuristic level, the poem questions conventional Arab identity through irony and contradiction. The hermeneutic reading revealed a critique of moral and cultural decline in the Arab world, expressed through themes of disillusionment, hypocrisy, and the erosion of human values. The model of a nation that has eroded the value of humanity is reflected in the matrix of humanity, underscoring Chouchène's broader poetic message, particularly in Salām' Alaikum. The findings showed that Chouchène employed poetic language not only to challenge identity constructs but also to promote universal human values as essential foundations for justice and peace.

Abstract

In order to assist students in comprehending and analyzing literary works more thoroughly, learning Arabic literature calls for a creative method. Through transmediation, this study seeks to create a multimodal project-based learning model that uses a variety of media to improve students' understanding and creativity. This research employs the Research and Development (R&D) method, following the Hannafin and Peck model, which consists of three phases: need assessment, design, and development & implementation. However, this study focuses only on the need assessment and design phases. Data were collected through observations and questionnaires distributed to students and lecturers in the Arabic Literature course of the Arabic Language Education Study Program at Universitas Negeri Jakarta. The needs assessment results indicate that students face difficulties in deeply understanding Arabic literary texts and are less actively engaged in the learning process. To improve their understanding of Arabic literature, a more project-based and interactive approach is required. Based on these results, the design phase produced a multimodal project-based learning model integrating transmediation, enabling students to express their understanding through visual, audio, and digital storytelling. In order to determine how the created model affects students' critical thinking, creativity, and understanding of Arabic literature, this study suggests that it be further implemented and evaluated. The usefulness and efficacy of this learning model should be investigated further during the development and implementation phases.
