Abstract

This study aims to examine the results of a preliminary study on the development of ethnoscience-based science learning media in the form of perceptions about the original science of the community regarding the process of making rengginang lorjuk processed from Talang Siring sea into scientific science. This research is based on the still limited reconstruction of original science that develops in society into scientific science that can be studied and used as a source of learning independently. This research is crucial to do, considering that no one has comprehensively analyzed this topic. The subject in this study was one of the residents of the Talang Siring coastal area who had a home business in the form of rengginang lorjuk production. The research method uses descriptive qualitative. The data in this study were obtained from the results of (1) interviews; (2) Observation; and (3) Documentation. The research data obtained was then analyzed in several stages, namely data reduction, data display, and concluding/verification. Based on the results of scientific studies, it can be concluded that there is a relationship between indigenous knowledge (Indigenous Knowledge) and scientific knowledge (Scientific Knowledge).

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the need for the development of an ethnoscience-based educative magazine on the topic of petis lorjuk Madura. The results of the scientific reconstruction can be packaged in natural science teaching materials in the form of educative magazines. This research is qualitative descriptive research, using interviews, observation, and documentation techniques. The stages of the research started with preparation, making research instruments, implementation, and completion. The results of this study are the community's indigenous knowledge about making petis lorjuk with STEAM reviews. The results of this study found reinforcement and misconceptions where there is a correlation between the ethnoscience study of petis lorjuk and natural science material. The results of the ethnoscience study that have been obtained can be used as science teaching materials contextually and can review further related misconceptions of knowledge so that learning is more meaningful and sensitive to the surrounding environment.

Abstract

This research aims to describe the percentage of misconception levels of junior high school students using a five tier diagnostic test on the classification of living things. This type of research is quantitative descriptive with a population of class VII students at SMP Negeri 3 Bangkalan for the 2022/2023 academic year. The samples used in the research were classes VII-A and VII-D based on purposive sampling techniques. Data collection was carried out by administering five tier diagnostic test questions. The research results showed that: 1) Students experienced M (Misconception) 37.73%, SC (Scientific Conception) 17.27%, ASC (Almost Scientific Conception) 2.73%, LK (Lack of Knowledge) 26.64%, NU (No Understanding Conception) 15.18%, and UnC (Un-Code) 0.45%, 2) The percentage of classification of misconception levels based on calculations using standard deviation and the mean of students is in the low misconception category of 27.27%, moderate misconception amounted to 52.73%, and high misconceptions amounted to 20%. Based on the results of the research and data analysis carried out, it can be concluded that the high percentage of students' misconceptions indicates that the material on the classification of living things is quite difficult for students at SMP Negeri 3 Bangkalan to understand.

Abstract

This research aims to examine the effect of students’ learning motivation to retention in biology learning. This research is included in quantitative research. The research sample was 56 students. To measure learning motivation, the ARCS (Attention, Relevance, Confidence and Satisfaction) motivation questionnaire was used which was adapted from Keller (2010) with a total of 36 statements. Retention was measured using an essay test which was carried out 2 weeks after the posttest. Student answers were then measured using Hart's (1994) rubric. A simple linear regression analysis was carried out to see the effect of students’ learning motivation toward retention. The results of data analysis show that there is a significant effect of students’ learning motivation toward the retention. Based on the regression results, it is known that the R value is 0.654, which indicates that there is a correlation in which a strong relationship between motivation and retention. Motivation has a contribution of 42.8% to retention and 57.2% is influenced by other factors. It can be concluded that learning motivation can encourage working memory performance so that the flow of information can be processed in the long-term memory.

Abstract

One of exciting learning media is magazine in which students prefer to read this rather than books since magazine contains of various colorful images and appropriate information. Magazine can be developed by integrating with science learning approach in order that students can comprehend the concepts easier. This study aims at developing science magazine which is integrated with contextual teaching and learning approach according to the study findings in Talang Siring. The research included in a research and development study, using Borg and Gall model. The research was conducted on October to November 2022, which is located in Talang Siring Pamekasan, Indonesia by identifying ecosystem of beach and mangrove. Furthermore, the observation findings were arranged systematically in developing science magazine. Science magazine was evaluated by experts in concept and learning media. Findings indicated that the science magazine is valid with media validity score 93.5 and content validity score 91.6. Therefore, it is appropriate to implemented in science learning. Therefore, it can be concluded that science magazine is able to be used as learning media in science learning process

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui peningkatan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa pada materi getaran, gelombang, dan bunyi melalui model pembelajaran SOLE berbantuan PhET. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di MTs Darul Ulum Al-Cholily Bojonegoro dengan subjek penelitian siswa kelas VIII B sebanyak 16 siswa sebagai kelas eksperimen dan kelas VIII A sebanyak 17 siswa sebagai kelas kontrol. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah quasi experimental design dalam bentuk nonequivalent control group design. Untuk mengukur peningkatan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa menggunakan Uji N-Gain Score. Berdasarkan hasil uji N-Gain Score dapat ditarik kesimpulan bahwa terdapat peningkatan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa setelah diterapkan model pembelajaran SOLE berbantuan PhET pada materi getaran, gelombang, dan bunyi sebesar 0,58 dengan kategori sedang.   Dengan demikian, model pembelajaran SOLE berbantuan PhET efektif dalam meningkatkan kemampuan berpikir kritis siswa.

Abstract

Pocket book berbasis permainan cari kata merupakan bahan ajar yang didesain dengan ukuran yang praktis ringan, mudah dibawa, berisi ringkasan konteks materi secara utuh yang dipadukan dengan aktivitas permainan cari kata. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peningkatan literasi sains siswa pada materi klasifikasi makhluk hidup berbantuan pocket book berbasis permainan cari kata. Literasi sains pada penelitian ini berfokus pada satu domain yaitu kompetensi yang meliputi 3 aspek yaitu menjelaskan fenomena ilmiah, menginterpretasi data dan bukti secara ilmiah, mengevaluasi dan merancang penyelidikan ilmiah. Desain penelitian yang digunakan yaitu one group pretest-posttest. Subjek penelitian yaitu 31 siswa kelas VII-J MTsN Bangkalan. Data diperoleh dengan metode tes kemudian dianalisis secara deksripsi kuantitatif. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan untuk mengetahui peningkatan literasi sains menggunakan uji N-Gain. Literasi sains setelah pembelajaran materi klasifikasi makhluk hidup menggunakan pocket book berbasis permainan cari kata mengalami peningkatan sebesar 0,6 dengan kategori sedang.

Abstract

The development of digital comics is based on the minimal use of digital-based learning media, the lack of interest and motivation in learning science. This study aims to determine the feasibility, readability level and student response to digital comics based on Contextual Teaching and Learning on the topic of light and optical instruments. This research is a development research using the ADDIE development model. The research was conducted at the UPTD of SMP Negeri 3 Bangkalan in the 2024/2025 academic year. The results of the development of digital comics obtained a media feasibility score of 88.44% with very feasible criteria. The feasibility of the material obtained a score of 84.20% with very feasible criteria. The media readability level obtained a score of 86.63% with very high criteria, and student responses to digital comics were 83.88% with very good criteria. Based on the results obtained, it is known that digital comics based on Contextual Teaching and Learning are suitable for use in learning the material of light and optical instruments.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kemampuan argumentasi siswa SMP Negeri 32 Gresik berdasarkan Toulmin’s Argument Pattern (TAP) di Desa Lasem, Kecamatan Sidayu, Kabupaten Gresik pada materi pencemaran Lingkungan. Penelitian ini menggunakan jenis penelitian deskriptif kuantitatif dengan non-experimental design. Populasi penelitian yaitu semua siswa kelas VIII Tahun Ajaran 2021/2022. Pengambilan sampel menggunakan teknik nonprobability sampling jenis purposive sampling. Sampel penelitian sebanyak 15 siswa. Pengumpulan data menggunakan instrumen tes soal essai sebanyak 4 butir soal untuk mengetahui kemampuan argumentasi siswa. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: (1) Terdapat perbedaan nilai rata-rata persentase kemampuan argumentasi siswa berdasarkan Toulmin’s Argument Pattern (TAP) pada tingkat tinggi 13%; tingkat sedang 67%; tingkat rendah 20%. Sehingga disimpulkan bahwa nilai rata-rata keseluruhan kemampuan argumentasi siswa berada pada tingkat sedang dengan nilai persentase sebesar 50%, (2) Berdasarkan Toulmin’s Argument Pattern yang dianalisis secara kuantitatif diperoleh data bahwarata-rata indikator kemampuan argumentasi yang paling banyak dimunculkan oleh siswa kelas VIII B UPT SMPN 32 Gresik untuk keseluruhan soal berada pada level 2.

Abstract

Batik Ghentongan Tanjung Bumi Madura, as a representation of local cultural wisdom, offers meaningful potential for contextual integration into science education. The aim of this research was to analyze the validity and reliability of an instrument designed to assess student responses to Batik Ghentongan Tanjung Bumi Madura. The study was conducted in Tanjungbumi Subdistrict, Bangkalan Regency, East Java, Indonesia, involving 248 junior high school pupils, including of 119 males and 129 females, selected through simple random sampling. A quantitative survey design was employed using 8 items on a 4 point Likert scale. Data were analyzed using common factor analysis and the Rasch model with Winsteps software version 4.7.0.0. The results show that 6 items met the validity criteria, while 2 items require revision; the raw variance explained by measures reached 24 percent, indicating acceptable unidimensionality, and the Cronbach Alpha value of 0.95 demonstrates excellent internal consistency reliability. In conclusion, the instrument is adequate valid and reliable for identification students’ responses to Batik Ghentongan Tanjung Bumi Madura, although further refinement of several items is recommended to strengthen construct validity and improve measurement precision. This study contributes to Sustainable Development Goal 4, Quality Education, and Sustainable Development Goal 8, Decent Work and Economic Growth, by promoting culturally responsive science learning and strengthening awareness of local cultural industries as a component of sustainable economic development.
