Abstract

ABSTRAK Masyarakat khususnya para ibu pada dasarnya belum memiliki pengetahuan akan pentingnya pemberian gizi pada anak dan belum mengaplikasikan pengetahuannya dalam hal pemberian makanan pada anak balita. Berdasarkan informasi dari kader, makanan yang disiapkan cenderung monoton tanpa variasi yang menarik dan tanpa memperhatikan perbedaan kebutuhan balita tersebut. Kader mendorong ibu balita dalam membuat menu kreatif dan inovatif sesuai dengan ketersediaan pangan lokal disekitarnya. Tujuan kegiatan ini adalah melakukan edukasi dan pelatihan kepada kader posyandu dan ibu balita dalam upaya peningkatan gizi balita di Desa Panca Mukti Kecamatan Pondok Kelapa Kabupaten Bengkulu Tengah tahun 2022. Metode yang digunakan dalam pelaksanan kegiatan Pengembangan Desa Mitra adalah model Development (CD) dengan pendekatan Persuasif  dan Edukatif.  Hasil pengabdian kepada masyarakat menunjukkan terjadi peningkatan pengetahuan ibu balita setelah diberikan pelatihan tentang pemberian ASI eksklusif dan Makanan Pendamping Air Susu Ibu (MP-ASI) dengan rata-rata hasil post test 82,61, meningkat dari pre test yang sebelumnya 79,13. Perlu dilaksanakan kegiatan rutin terkait pemberian makan bayi dan anak untuk mendukung peningkatan status gizi balita di Desa Panca Mukti seperti penyuluhan mengenai berbagai macam bahan pangan lokal dan praktek pengolahan bahan makanan lokal tersebut menjadi menu makanan balita. Kata Kunci: Keterampilan, Pemenuhan Gizi, Balita  ABSTRACT The community, especially mothers, basically do not have knowledge of the importance of providing children nutrition and have not applied their knowledge in terms of feeding children. Based on information from cadres, the food prepared tends to be monotonous without interesting variations and without paying attention to the different needs of these toddlers. Cadres encourage mothers with toddlers to make creative and innovative menu  based on the availability of local food. The aim of this activity was to educate and trained posyandu cadres and mothers of toddlers to improve toddler nutrition in Panca Mukti Village, Pondok Kelapa District, Central Bengkulu Regency in 2022. The method used in this activity was the Development model with a Persuasive approach and Educative. The results of community service showed that there was an increased in the knowledge of toddler mothers being given training on exclusive breastfeeding and Complementary Food for Breast Milk (MP-ASI) with an average post-test result of 82.61, an increased from the previous pre-test of 79.13.It was necessary to carry out routine activities related to child feeding to support the improvement of the nutritional status of toddlers in Panca Mukti Village such as counseling on various kinds of local food ingredients and the practice of processing these local food ingredients into a toddler food menu. Keywords: Skills, Fulfillment of Nutrition, Toddlers

Abstract

Adolescence is a time of physical and psychological growth as people transition to adulthood, and proper nutrition is essential for this process. Anemia, a condition characterized by a lack of red blood cells or hemoglobin, is the most common health issue among young women. In 2018, the prevalence of anemia was higher in women (27.2%) than in men (20.3%), and particularly high (32%) in the 15-24 age group. The purpose of this study was to investigate the prevalence of anemia among teenage women in a rural area . The study used a cross-sectional design and included 112 middle school female students in Rejang Lebong Regency. The data was collected using survey questionnaire and a semi-quantitative food frequency questionnaire to assess factors such as knowledge, the intake of calorie, protein, vitamin C, and iron. Correlation analysis and multiple linear regression were used to analyze the relations between these variables and anemia status. The correlation analysis showed that knowledge, calorie intake, and vitamin C were not significantly correlated with anemia (p values 0.378, 0.563 and 0.087, respectively). However, there was a significant correlation between iron and protein intake with the occurrence of anemia (p values 0.000 and 0.030).

Abstract

Among Indonesia, there is a 42% of anemia in adolescent girls. Study becomes challenging for those with anemia because blood may not bind oxygen from lungs to the rest of the body effectively. Consume soy and tempeh milk can be alternative treatment for anemia patients. In this study, young girls at SMP Negeri 2 Bengkulu City were tested to see how well tempeh milk and soy milk increased hemoglobin level. This study involved 36 young girls, aged 12 to 14, subjected to two-group pretest and posttest quasi-experimental design. The sample was taken by purposive sampling technique followed inclusion criteria namely, do not have infectious diseases and do not have blood disorders. The first treatment was given 200 mL of tempeh milk and the second treatment was given 200 mL of soy milk for 14 days. The average hemoglobin level of adolescent girls before intervention with tempeh milk is 12.8 g/dL and after the intervention was increased to 14.2 g/dL. The average hemoglobin level of adolescent girls before intervention with soy milk was 12.7 g/dL and after the intervention was increased to 13.7 g/dL. Tempeh milk and soy milk had the same effectiveness in increasing hemoglobin levels of adolescent girls at SMP Negeri 2 Bengkulu City.

Abstract

An athlete needs to pay attention to the amounts of nutrients that give the body energy. If an athlete doesn't know much about proper nutrition, it can make them less aware of how important it is to eat healthy food. Indonesian athletes who aren't performing well are doing so because they aren't getting enough healthy nutrition. This is because their teachers don't know how nutrition can help athletes perform better. The study aimed at investigating the relationship between nutritional knowledge and macronutrient intake with the nutritional status of athletes. Analytic descriptive research with a cross sectional approach. There were 94 athletes as the population, and a sample of 63 athletes in the dormitory involved, through simple random sampling method. The instruments used were the respondent's identity, nutritional knowledge questionnaire, 3x24 hour food recall, height measurement using microtoice and weight using digital scales, then the analysis of the data was conducted with 3 stages, namely univariate, bivariate analysis with chi square test and multivariate analysis with linear regression test. The results identified a relationship between nutritional knowledge (p=0.012) and macronutrient intake, namely energy intake (p=0.029), protein intake (p=0.001) with the nutritional status of athletes. Nevertheless, the study findings revealed no significant relation between fat consumption (p=0.781) and carbohydrate intake (p=0.927) and the nutritional condition of athletes. The most influential factor on nutritional status is energy intake. The greater the amount of energy intake, the greater the tendency to have more nutritional status. Therefore, it is crucial to implement the nutrition education to athletes in relation with nutritional intake and feeding based on balanced nutrition menu guidelines according to the needs of athletes.

Abstract

Pemantauan berat badan balita akan berhasil dengan baik apabila ada partisipasi aktif masyarakat melalui kehadiran atau kunjungan ibu menimbangkan anaknya di posyandu. Upaya meningkatkan cakupan partisipasi masyarakat (D/S) dapat dimulai dari keaktifan ader posyandu dan pendekatan yang dilakukan. Salah satu alternatif melalui kegiatan pemberdayaan kader dengan peningkatan pemahaman menggunakan media cakram. Kegiatan edukasi “Pemberdayaan Kader dalam Peningkatan D/S dan Deteksi Dini Status Gizi Balita 24-59 bulan” dilakukan di Posyandu Berkat, Posyandu Tunas Muda, Posyandu Cendana dan Posyandu Sepakat, Kota Bengkulu. Tujuan dari kegiatan ini untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan kader posyandu tentang interpretasi capaian khususnya D/S dan meningkatkan keterampilan kader menggunakan cakram gizi. Terjadi perubahan pengetahuan kader melalui peningkatan nilai rata-rata pre dan post-test sebanyak 14 poin dari 66 poin menjadi 80 poin. Penggunaan media cakram, dapat mempermudah kader dalam mendeteksi dan menginterpretasi status gizi balita dengan cepat. Untuk keberlanjutan kegiatan, terdapat harapan dalam menggunakan lingkaran status gizi, yaitu kader mempunyai kemampuan untuk memahami dan menerapkan pada kegiatan penimbangan di posyandu setiap bulannya sehingga dapat mendeteksi sedini mungkin masalah gizi.

Abstract

Background: Central obesity manifests as the accumulation of adipose tissue in abdominal (visceral). The assessment of this condition often employs abdominal circumference (AC) as a commonly utilized metric. The increasing prevalence of central obesity is linked to dietary habits encompassing simple carbohydrates, fiber, and protein, environment, behavior, and genetic factors. Objectives: This study aimed to determine the relationship between sugar, salt, and oil consumption patterns and central obesity in employees. Methods: This research was an observational study with a cross-sectional design on 35 employees. Data collection included sugar, salt, and oil consumption patterns collected using a semi-quantitative food frequency questionnaire (SQ-FFQ), and central obesity was obtained by measuring abdominal circumference using measuring tape, then statistical analysis using the Chi-square test. Results: Most respondents had unhealthy consumption patterns of sugar, salt, and oil that were 71.4%, 62.9%, and 82.9%, respectively. There was a significant relationship between consumption patterns of sugar (p=0.002), salt (p=0.033), oil (p=0.019) and the proportion of central obesity in employees at the Regional Library and Archives Office of Bengkulu Province. Conclusions: Twenty-two employees experienced central obesity, with the majority surpassing daily sugar, salt, and oil intake recommendations as a notable risk factor. To mitigate this, Bengkulu Province Regional Library and Archives Office staff are advised to limit the consumption of sugar, salt, and oil-rich items such as salted fish, canned sardines, dried shrimp, instant chili sauce, soy sauce, instant noodles, palm oil, and coconut milk in their meals.

Abstract

Covid-19 telah menyebabkan perubahan di berbagai sektor dan dilakukan pembatasan, sehingga pola kebiasaan sehari-hari harus menyesuaikan dengan keadaan pandemi. Kondisi pandemi mempengaruhi manusia dalam menjaga pola makan sehat yang bervariasi, dengan akses terbatas untuk membeli bahan makanan segar. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui gambaran asal usul bahan pangan dan frekuensi pembelian bahan pangan pada himpunan mahasiswa jurusan gizi (hmj) di Indonesia selama pandemi tahun 2022. Jenis penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kualitatif dengan desain cross sectional. Teknik pengambilan sampel dilakukan dengan purposive sampling dengan total 464 responden mahasiswa HMJ Manajemen Gizi di Indonesia, penelitian ini dilakukan dalam survei online, pendataan dengan analisis univariat. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa asal bahan pangan yang diperoleh manajemen Gizi HMJ di wilayah Sumatera berasal dari pasar (40%), wilayah Jawa-Bali (39,1%), wilayah Kalimantan (30%) berasal dari daring, dan wilayah Sumapua berasal dari sayuran keliling (25,2%). Frekuensi pembelian bahan pangan pokok tinggi di wilayah Kalimantan (76%), pembelian mie instan tinggi di wilayah Sumatera (65%), pembelian protein hewani (ikan) tinggi di wilayah Sumatera (64,8%), pembelian telur meningkat selama pandemi, pembelian buah meningkat lebih banyak daripada sayuran, dan pembelian air minum tinggi di wilayah Kalimantan (72%). Berdasarkan hasil penelitian asal bahan pangan untuk pengelolaan Gizi HMJ di wilayah Sumatera dari pasar, di wilayah Jawa-Bali dan wilayah Kalimantan dari online shop, di wilayah Sumatera dari sayuran keliling. Frekuensi pembelian beras, gula, garam dan air minum tinggi di wilayah Kalimantan, pembelian mie instan tinggi di wilayah Sumatera, pembelian ikan tinggi di wilayah Sumatera, pembelian telur meningkat selama pandemi, pembelian buah-buahan lebih meningkat daripada sayuran.

Abstract

This study was conducted in Palembang from June to August 2023, using descriptive analysis methods and a cross-sectional design. The research subjects were high school students from 3 schools, selected using a simple random sampling technique with a sample size of 50 students. Data about breakfast patterns in the form of breakfast habits, energy intake, and breakfast macronutrients were collected using questionnaires and 3 x 24-hour recall forms. Nutritional status was measured by measuring body weight and height to find nutritional status based on BMI/U and categorized based on the Minister of Health's Regulation on Children's Anthropometric Standards 2020. Data were analyzed using the chi-square statistical test. The research results showed that almost half of the students' breakfast energy intake was in the normal category (48%). Nearly half of the students' breakfast protein intake was in the more category (42%). Almost half of the students' breakfast fat intake was in the normal category (48%). Most students' breakfast carbohydrate intake was deficient (52%), and most students' nutritional status was normal (60%). A relationship exists between energy and fat intake at breakfast and students' nutritional status. Although protein and carbohydrate intake varies, this research provides critical insight into the factors that influence the well-being of high school students. Suggestions from this research can be used as a reference for developing more efficient nutrition intervention programs in schools to improve the health and welfare of adolescent students.

Abstract

Hypertension is a medical condition characterized by elevated blood pressure beyond normal limits. Management strategies for hypertension can be pharmacological or non-pharmacological. This study aims to evaluate the effect of administering "semundu" juice combined with yogurt on reducing blood pressure in individuals with hypertension in the Jembatan Kecil Health Center area, Bengkulu City, in 2024. A total of 28 participants with high blood pressure were randomly assigned to one of four groups: P0 (control group receiving educational leaflets), P1 (200g watermelon juice, 100g cucumber, and 20ml honey), P2 (100g Ambon banana, yogurt), and P3 (200g watermelon juice, 100g cucumber, 20ml honey, and yogurt). The Kruskal-Wallis test results indicated that the administration of "semundu" juice combined with probiotics significantly affected both systolic and diastolic blood pressure, as evidenced by a p-value of less than 0.05. All treatment groups demonstrated a reduction in blood pressure, with significant differences observed between the groups: P0 vs. P3 (p-value < 0.02), P1 vs. P3 (p-value < 0.034), and P2 vs. P3 (p-value < 0.01). These findings suggest that "semundu" juice combined with probiotics has a notable impact on lowering blood pressure in individuals with hypertension.

Abstract

ABSTRAK Stunting salah satu masalah kesehatan nasional yang memerlukan penanganan secara dini terutama dalam memantau pertumbuhan balita, untuk mengatasi atau pencegahan stunting dapat melibatkan kelompok masyarakat diantaranya kelompok Dasawisma. Kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan, keterampilan kelompok dasawisma mendeteksi dini pertumbuhan balita dalam pencegahan stunting. Kelompok Dasawisma melakukan secara mandiri dalam mendeteksi dini pertumbuhan balita. Kegiatan pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat dilakukan dengan metode cara ceramah, diskusi dan simulasi. Pengetahuan dan keterampilan dalam deteksi dini pertumbuhan balita diukur sebelum dan sesudah pelatihan kelompok dasawisma selama 2 hari. Memonitoring dan evaluasi hasil pelatihan dengan melihat pengukuran status gizi terhadap ibu yang mempunyai balita. Ada perbedaan pengetahuan, keterampilan kelompok dasawisma dalam mendeteksi dini pertumbuhan balita sebelum dan sesudah diberikan pelatihan dengan nilai p 0.01. Hasil dari deteksi dini pertumbuhan dalam pengukuran status gizi balita pada 68 orang balita diperoleh hasil hampir seluruh balita memiliki status gizi normal 82,4%, pendek 11,8% dan sangat pendek 5,8% yang dilakukan oleh kader dasawisma. Kegiatan pengabdian ini berhasil meningkatkan pengetahuan dan ketrampilan kader mengenai deteksi dini stunting. Saran untuk dilakukan pemantauan status gizi secara berkala agar terlacak stunting secara dini sehingga dapat ditanggulangi secara cepat. Kata Kunci: Dasawisma, Deteksi Dini, Pemberdayaan, Stunting  ABSTRACT Stunting is a national health problem that requires early treatment, especially in monitoring the growth of toddlers. To overcome or prevent stunting, community groups can be involved, including the Dasawisma group. This activity aims to increase the knowledge and skills of the dasawisma group in detecting early growth in toddlers in preventing stunting. The Dasawisma group independently detects early growth in toddlers. Community service activities were carried out using lecture, discussion and simulation methods. Knowledge and skills in early detection of toddler growth were measured before and after the dasawisma group training for 2 days. Monitoring and evaluating training results by looking at measuring the nutritional status of mothers with toddlers. There were differences in the knowledge and skills of the dasawisma group in detecting early growth in toddlers before and after being given training with a p value of 0.01. The results of early growth detection in measuring the nutritional status of 68 toddlers showed that almost all toddlers had a normal nutritional status of 82.4%, 11.8% short and 5.8% very short, which was carried out by dasawisma cadres. This service activity was successful in increasing cadres' knowledge and skills regarding early detection of stunting. Suggestions are to monitor nutritional status regularly so that stunting can be tracked early so that it can be overcome quickly. Keywords: Dasawisma, Early Detection, Empowerment, Stunting
