Abstract

Mastery of the concept is needed to measure the success of students' learning process. The objectives of this study were 1) To describe the mastery of the concept of dynamic electricity in class IX students at Junior High School Negeri 26 Banjarmasin who taught using PhET media, and 2) To describe whether or not there was an effect of using PhET as a learning medium in class IX at Junior High School Negeri 26 Banjarmasin. The type of research used is quantitative research with quasi-experimental methods and a nonequivalent control group research design. The data in this study is collected from the test (pre-test and post-test), which contain cognitive domains. The data analysis techniques used to test the hypothesis are the N-gain and simple linear regression tests. The result showed: 1) There were differences in the mastery of concepts in the control class and the experimental class as seen from the post-test average scores, namely 47,94 and 74,76; 2) There is an increase in students' mastery of concepts in the experimental class with an N-gain score in the experimental class of 54,09 in the medium category and the control class 22,76 in the low category; and 3) There is an effect of using PhET media on increasing mastery of students’ concepts by 52% based on the results of simple linear regression test. Using PhET media with the guided inquiry method positively influences and increases students' mastery of concepts.

Abstract

This research aims to (1) Determine whether the learning outcomes of students with motivating teachers are better than those without motivating teachers in junior high schools; (2) Identify the factors that play a role in influencing the learning outcomes of students by motivating and non-motivating teachers. The study involved 37 students from State Junior High School 9 Banjarmasin with motivating teachers and 33 students from State Junior High School 1 Banjarmasin with non-motivating teachers. The results showed (1) The average learning outcomes of students with motivating teachers were 64.59, while the average learning outcomes of students with non-motivating teachers were 78.65. A significant difference was based on the Independent-Samples T-Test One-Tailed with a P-value of 0.000 < 0.05. The research findings indicate that the learning outcomes of students with motivating teachers are not better than those of students with non-motivating teachers; (2) Factors influencing the learning outcomes of students by motivating and non-motivating teachers include the school principal, colleagues, facilities, and infrastructure, learning motivation, teacher's abilities, teacher's leadership, work experience, and the working environment.

Abstract

Pumpkin (Cucurbita moschata), also known as waluh (banjar) and pumpkin parang (Java), is one of the local foods with high nutritional value beneficial for the human body. Cultivated pumpkin has a shorter shelf life than whole pumpkin, requiring processing into flour to enhance its longevity and prevent damage. This study aimed to determine the effect of different drying times using an oven on protein content and water content in pumpkin flour. The research was conducted at the ULM Banjarmasin Science Laboratory using the Completely Randomized Design (CRD) method with five treatments and three replicates. The flour was produced in the IPA Laboratory of ULM Banjarmasin using various drying time variations with the Completely Randomized Design (CRD) method involving five treatments and three replicates. Parameters assessing the differences in flour included protein content and water content. The test results, analyzed with ANOVA, revealed that the processing of pumpkin flour with different drying times significantly affected the protein and moisture content of the flour. The highest protein content, 24.98%, was found in the T2 treatment involving drying in an oven for 2 hours, while the T5 treatment, drying for 3.5 hours, showed the highest water content at 12.46%.

Abstract

Lack of teacher innovation in classroom learning which only uses textbooks and worksheets containing only a few pictures and text, so interactive learning media are needed which contain animation, audio and video that attract students to learn and understand the lesson. This research aims to describe the validity and practicality of the interactive learning media Articulate Storyline. This research uses the Research and Development (R&D) method with the ADDIE (Analyse, Design, Develop, Implement and Evaluate) development model. Data collection techniques use media expert and material expert validation sheets as well as student response questionnaires. The research results showed that the interactive learning media Articulate Storyline obtained a media expert validity score of 0.83 while the material expert validity was 0.84. The learning media was tested on thirteen students in small groups and obtained a score of 74.5%. Based on the results, it can be concluded that the interactive learning media Articulate Storyline additive material is stated to be very valid and practical for use in science learning in junior high schools.

Abstract

Tilapia nuggets are an instant food with high protein and mineral content. Adding tapioca flour to the nuggets increases gel rigidity when cooling, making the texture harder. However, to optimize the nutritional value and texture of tilapia nuggets, seaweed can be added. This study aimed to determine the best formulation for tilapia nuggets that meet SNI 7758 quality standards. Research methods included observation, literature study, questionnaire, and experiment. The results show that substituting Eucheuma Cottonii seaweed for tapioca flour significantly improved sensory, physical, and chemical test parameters. The best formulation, N1, with an effectiveness index value of 77.1, met the quality standards of SNI 7758. It received an appearance score of 7.73, odor score of 7.40, taste score of 7.73, texture score of 7.33, texture hardness of 666 gr, water content of 59.95%, ash content of 2.31%, protein content of 13.94%, and fat content of 0.76%. Therefore, adding seaweed to the formulation of tilapia nuggets can enhance their nutritional value and texture.

Abstract

The consumption of plant-based protein in Indonesia is comparatively higher than the consumption of animal-based protein, indicating a growing trend of substituting traditional meat-based ingredients with plant-based alternatives in dishes like meatballs. In order to address this shift and improve the nutritional value of the population's diet, researchers are exploring food diversification by incorporating oyster mushrooms and celery into meatball products. The objective of this study is to evaluate the impact of different ratios of oyster mushrooms (Pleurotus ostreatus) and celery (Apium graveolens) on the protein content and sensory qualities of plant-based meatballs. The research utilized a Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with three different levels of celery addition in oyster mushroom meatballs: 0%, 10%, and 20%. Data analysis was conducted using SPSS software, employing the One-Way ANOVA test for normally distributed and homogenous data, and the Kruskal-Wallis test for non-normally distributed or heterogeneous data. The results indicated that the most favorable outcome was observed in formulation F2, which had a protein content of 9.700%, meeting the Indonesian National Standard for meatball products. Additionally, the addition of celery had a significant impact (p < 0.05) on the protein content.

Abstract

Wetlands that dominate the area in South Kalimantan are one of the indigenous science learning resources that can help students learn. However, the insertion of wetlands has not commonly been done on a learning media which directly used in class. The developed wetlands-based module on wave and optics aimed to enhance students"™ scientific literacy which leads to the success of learning by integrating indigenous science. It was implemented for thirty science education students by using a group pretest-posttest design. The results showed that 29 students gained increased scientific literacy during the implementation, with the improvement in each aspect of scientific literacy categorized as moderate. In addition, the Wilcoxon test result showed a significant enhancement of scientific literacy after using the wetlands-based module of wave and optics. Thus, the wetland-based module is effective in improving students"™ scientific literacy abilities.
