Abstract

This research examines the implementation of collection development at the West Sumatra Province Archives and Library Service in an effort to fulfill the information needs of users. Libraries play an important role in preserving knowledge and culture, therefore, a clear collection development policy that involves all relevant parties is very necessary. The research uses descriptive methods to provide a detailed picture of the process and challenges in collection development.The research results show that library needs analysis is carried out regularly through surveys to ensure collections cover various age groups and information needs. Library material selection policies are influenced by the budget prepared by the government and additional sources such as grants. Selection of library materials is carried out annually based on a survey of library needs with references from publisher catalogues, the internet and reviews. The procurement process involves the stages of selection, purchasing and processing of library materials using the Inlislite system. Weeding is carried out to maintain the relevance and quality of the collection, although limited funds are an obstacle in this process. Collection eval_uation is carried out to ensure the relevance and physical condition of library materials.In conclusion, library collection development must consider budget, user needs, and relevance of information to ensure the collection remains high quality and useful. The main challenges faced include a lack of collaboration between librarians and users, funding uncertainty, and a lack of supporting facilities and infrastructure.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of room lighting intensity on the visual comfort of users in the Metamedia University library. This study is a type of quantitative research with a descriptive method. Data were obtained through distributing questionnaires at the Metamedia University Library. The population in this study were all students of Metamedia University totaling 1000 people. The sampling technique used simple random sampling with a sample size of 100 respondents. The data collection technique was carried out by distributing questionnaires to the research sample. In this study, the data analysis technique used quantitative statistics. Based on the results of the data analysis, this study obtained the results that there was an influence between natural and artificial lighting on the visual comfort of users in the Metamedia University library.

Abstract

One form of digital library owned by the Andalas University Library UPT is the Kubuku application, however the use of the Kubuku application in this agency is not optimal. This research aims to analyze the acceptance of the Kubuku application by users at the Andalas University Library UPT. The type of research used is a quantitative approach with descriptive methods. The data collection technique was carried out by distributing questionnaires to the respondents. The total population in this study was 437 people. Samples were taken from 81 users using the Slovin formula with a precision of 10%. The analysis was carried out using the Technological Acceptance Model (TAM) theory which consists of 4 indicators. From each indicator, it was found that users had a perception of the usefulness of the application with a percentage of 74.6% in the good category. Users have a perception of ease of use of the application with a percentage of 84% in the very good category. Users have a good interest in using the Kubuku application with a percentage of 72.6%. And the actual use of the Kubuku application is also categorized as good with a percentage of 64%. Based on the overall results of the research, it can be concluded that there is acceptance of the Kubuku application by users at the Andalas University Library UPT with a percentage of 73.8% which is in the good category.

Abstract

Redesigning the appearance of the application is the process of redesigning the existing design with the aim of improving the user experience. This is due to the appearance of the application that is still behind compared to other applications. The purpose of this redesign is to produce an improved display that has been redesigned as a recommendation for the development of the iSolokKab digital library application. This redesign was carried out using interview techniques to iSolokKab application users and reviews from users from the Play Store. iSolokKab needs improvement both from the appearance design and features. The method used in this redesign process is the design thinking method. Design thinking is a method that focuses on user complaints and provides suitable solutions to problems experienced by users in the application. Therefore, this method is very suitable for the process of redesigning the appearance of this iSolokKab application, because it can understand user needs. Based on the results of tests that have been carried out on improving the appearance design of the iSolokKab application, it can be said that it is easy to understand by users, judging from the tests conducted on 5 respondents with an average time spent on each task of 9.6 seconds and no click errors. As a result, the process of redesigning this display design is fairly well understood by users because users can complete tasks easily. The redesign of the appearance of the iSolokKab application is expected to be a reference and improve the quality of the performance of the iSolokKab application itself.

Abstract

The purpose of this study is to describe how the implementation of national library standards on collection standards and infrastructure facilities at the Padang City Library and Archives Service based on the National Library Standards (SNP 008:2017). The method used in the research is the descriptive method, with a qualitative type of research. The background of the research was carried out at the Padang City Library and Archives Office located in Gor Haji Agus Salim Padang. Data entry to be done obtained from interviews and documentation that the author will do directly at the Padang City Library and Archives Office. The selection of informants was carried out by purposive sampling techniques Data collection techniques used interviews, and documentation. The results of this study show that (1) the collection standard that has not met the standard is the type of library collection because for the type of collection in the form of Electronics and recorded works do not exist yet, for the number of library collections is sufficient However, for the procurement of collections has not been carried out in accordance with the national library standards because they are constrained by the budget, the up-to-date collections have also not met the standards because there are still many collections published in the old year, the development of collections has not been in accordance with standards because there have never been re-shuffling activities, the procurement of library materials has not been carried out according to standards because they are constrained by The budget, the up-to-date collection has also not met the standards because many collections published in the old year are still used, the development of collections has not been in accordance with standards because there have never been re-opening activities, the procurement of library materials has not been carried out according to standards because of budget constraints, the preservation of collections has not been in accordance with standards because there are no tools that can be used for collection preservation, and the processing of library materials has been carried out in accordance with standards national libraries.

Abstract

The objectives of this research are: (1) to describe the availability of collections in the Payakumbuh 6 Public Middle School Library; (2) to describe the information needs of students at SMP Negeri 6 Payakumbuh; (3) to describe the influence of collection availability on the information needs of students at SMP Negeri 6 Payakumbuh.This research is a type of quantitative research with descriptive methods. Data was obtained through distributing questionnaires directly at SMP Negeri 6 Payakumbuh. The population in this study was class IX students, totaling 128 students. The sampling technique used random sampling technique with 56 respondents. In this research, the data analysis technique uses quantitative descriptive statistics. Based on the results of the analysis, the results obtained are, first, the availability of collections in the Library of SMP Negeri 6 Payakumbuh has been categorized as good with an average value of 3.16, second, the information needs of students at SMP Negeri 6 Payakumbuh can be categorized as good with an average value of 3.20, third is the influence of collection availability on the information needs of students at SMP Negeri 6 Payakumbuh, namely the collection availability variable (X) influences the information needs variable (Y), the R value is 0.833 with a value of 69.4%, the remaining 30.6% is influenced by factors -other factors. So it can be said to be good.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the half-life and obsolescence level of literature used in the Info Bibliotheca Journal articles of Padang State University in 2022-2024. This study was conducted using a quantitative method with a descriptive approach. The entire population was sampled in this study, with a total sample of 48 articles. Data were collected, analyzed using the half-life and obsolescence formulas, and conclusions were drawn. The results showed that the expired citations were 411 citations (50.24%) and the most recent were 407 citations (49.67%). The expiration rate of literature in the Info Bibliotheca Journal articles of Padang State University is 7 years.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh information overload terhadap pemenuhan kebutuhan informasi mahasiswa tingkat akhir program studi Perpustakaan dan Ilmu Informasi Universitas Negeri Padang. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah penelitian kuantitatif dengan pendekatan deskriptif. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah mahasiswa PII angkatan 2021 UNP yang sedang mengerjakan skripsi yaitu sebanyak 90 orang dengan teknik pengambilan sampel, yaitu nonprobability sampling. Penelitian ini menggunakan seluruh populasi sebagai sampel. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan cara menyebarkan kuesioner kepada seluruh sampel penelitian, mewawancarai responden sebagai data awal, dan studi kepustakaan. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian, diketahui bahwa skor rata-rata information overload mahasiswa di PII angkatan 2021 UNP sebesar 3,14 dengan kategori baik dan skor rata-rata kebutuhan informasi 3,38 dengan kategori sangat baik. Pengaruh information overload terhadap pemenuhan kebutuhan informasi mahasiswa tingkat akhir program studi Perpustakaan dan Ilmu Informasi Universitas Negeri Padang dengan signifikasi 0,00 < 0,05 dengan Fhitung 42.734, maka Ha diterima dan H0 ditolak. Oleh karena itu, information overload terhadap pemenuhan kebutuhan informasi mahasiswa tingkat akhir program studi Perpustakaan dan Ilmu Informasi Universitas Negeri Padang dengan koefisien determinasi sebesar 0,814 atau 66,3%. Dengan demikian, pengaruh information overload terhadap pemenuhan kebutuhan informasi mahasiswa tingkat akhir program studi Perpustakaan dan Ilmu Informasi Universitas Negeri Padang sebesar 66,3%.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to describe how the effectiveness of circulation services at Metamedia University Library. The type of research to be used is quantitative research. This research method uses descriptive research methods. The population of this study were Metamedia University students. The sample used in this study was a random sampling sample which amounted to 91 respondents. The results of this study are: First, the reliability indicator obtained an average score of 2.95 is on a very good interval scale, which indicates the existence of reliability that can improve circulation services. Second, the responsibility indicator obtained an average score of 2.32 on the interval scale is not good, which shows the lack of responsibility possessed by circulation officers. Third, the human resources indicator obtained an average score of 2.94 on a good interval scale, which shows that there are good procedures in circulation services. Fourth, the facilities and infrastructure indicator obtained an average score of 1.81 on the interval scale is not good, which shows that the facilities and infrastructure provided by Metamedia University are still not good. Fifth, the accuracy indicator obtained an average score of 1.68 on the interval scale is not good, which shows that the timeliness of circulation services is still not precise and effective. Sixth, the efficiency indicator obtained from an average score of 1.57 is on a very unfavorable interval scale, which shows that the software application provided by the Metamedia University library is not sufficiently able to assist circulation staff. Seventh, the productivity indicator and the services provided obtained from the average score of 3.00 are on the good interval scale, which shows that the productivity and services provided to users have been carried out well. Eighth, the borrowing period indicator obtained from an average score of 2.95 is on a good interval scale, which shows the time of the borrowing period and the number of books borrowed is well done. Based on the results of this study, it can be concluded that the library's perception of circulation services at metamedia university is quite good.

Abstract

This activity aims to provide an understanding of the application of digital media in the manufacture and documentation of official letters carried out at SMPN Padang Pariaman Regency. Based on observations, it is known that the structure and language used in official letters are still not in accordance with the rules of the Indonesian language. In addition, it was also found that the preparation and storage of archives in schools was still inadequate. School archives or documents are arranged in a cabinet, so it takes a long time to find them and is not well maintained due to improper arrangement and storage. Therefore, an activity is needed to correct errors in writing official letters and documenting existing school archives. Based on this explanation, it is necessary to conduct training activities regarding the creation and documentation of digital-based official letters using the Arterial application at SMP Negeri Padang Pariaman Regency, West Sumatra
