Abstract

This community service or Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat (PKM) is motivated by the not yet optimal utilization and understanding of the community in managing the village library and the reading habit of most of the community has not grown well. This community service activity was carried out in Nagari Pakan Sinayan, Kec. Banuhampu Kab. Agam. The target of this activity is the village library manager, village mayor, and village community focused on developing community literacy through community activities that are expected to be able to use the library and be able to determine the right source of information. This activity will be held in August – November 2021. The methods used are lectures, hands-on practice, and mentoring. The results showed that the participants were enthusiastic about the activities carried out by the PKM team. Participants can understand and are committed to following up on this PKM activity by empowering the role of the library as a source of information through reading corners that will be developed in each "jorong".

Abstract

The aim of this community service program is for teachers to be able to use and utilize digital information resources optimally in supporting academic activities, publications and learning for schools and themselves. The training material covers how to utilize online databases, One Search, Google Scholar, Digital School Books (BSD), DOAJ, and registering to become a member of the RI National Library as a publication media and learning resource. Activities carried out by lecture, demonstration, direct practice and technical guidance methods. Participants are guided to register as library members, search for information or browse, and download the required information. Before the training activities began, PKM teams made a kind of pre-test for all participants to see the trainees' initial knowledge. From the pre-test results 99% of the trainees did not know the source of digital-based information. Evaluation is done by performing in searching information through an online database and downloading certain subject matter. From the results of this training, participants are expected to be able to utilize digital resources, browse and download subject matter and be able to publish writings through writing and articles. Another thing that needs to be underlined is that digital-based information literacy knowledge in vocational and high school teachers is still very limited and needs to be encouraged even more.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui sejauh mana ketersediaan koleksi di UPT Perpustakaan Universitas Negeri Padang dapat memenuhi kebutuhan informasi pemustaka. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kuantitatif deskriptif dengan teknik pengumpulan data melalui kuesioner yang disebarkan kepada pemustaka aktif di perpustakaan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa secara umum ketersediaan koleksi di UPT Perpustakaan Universitas Negeri Padang tergolong cukup dalam memenuhi kebutuhan informasi pemustaka, dengan persentase sebesar 72%. Koleksi yang paling sering dimanfaatkan adalah buku teks dan skripsi, sementara koleksi digital dan jurnal ilmiah masih belum dimanfaatkan secara optimal karena keterbatasan akses dan kurangnya informasi mengenai ketersediaan koleksi tersebut. Berdasarkan hasil tersebut, disimpulkan bahwa meskipun koleksi perpustakaan cukup memadai, namun masih diperlukan pengembangan koleksi yang lebih relevan dan promosi layanan yang lebih intensif untuk meningkatkan pemanfaatannya

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of the search system in the Universitas Negeri Padang repository through three indicators, namely recall, precision, and F-measure. The method used is a descriptive quantitative approach by testing 75 keywords from eight study programs. The results show that the system has a very high recall, which is 100%, an average precision of only 34.48% and an F-measure of 43.09%. This shows that the system is able to reach all relevant documents, but is less accurate in displaying results that meet user needs. The conclusion of this study is that the effectiveness of the system is less than optimal and needs further development. Suggestions given include improving the quality of metadata, utilizing advanced search features, and developing a context-based search system to be more effective in supporting academic activities.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk Mendeskripsiskan bagaimana tingkat kepuasan pemustaka pada Layanan Referensi Perpustakaan Universitas Bung hatta. Jenis penelitian ini adalah kuantitatif dengan metode deskriptif. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah seluruh anggota aktif Perpustakaan Universitas Bung Hatta sebanyak 5.410 orang. Sampel sebanyak 98 orang yang di tentukan menggunajan rumus slovin, dan data dikumpulkan melalui kuesioner dan studi literatur. Instrumen penelitian disusun berdasarkan lima indikator teori LibQUAL+TM, yaitu: Bukti Fisik (Tangibles), Kehandalan (Reliability), Daya Tanggap (Responsiveness), Jaminan (Assurance), Empati (Empathy). Hasil analisis menunjukan bahwa kepuasan pemustakan pada kategori cukup puas dengan skor rata-rata 2,95. Dari hasil analisis, diperoleh temuan nilai skor rata-rata pada masing-masing indicator sebagai berikut: Bukti Fisik (2,77), Kehandalan (3,02), Daya Tanggap (3,02), Jaminan (3,00), Empati (2,95). Berdasarkan skala interval hal ini menunjukan bahwa pemustaka menilai bahwa layanan referensi pada Perpustakaan Universitas Bung Hatta telah mampu memenuhi kebutuhan mereka pada tingkat yang memadai. Layanan yang disediakan dirasakan cukup membantu dalam mendukung pencarian informasi

Abstract

This study aims to examine the information-seeking behavior of students in writing their undergraduate theses by utilizing content from the TikTok account @wifau. The research employs a descriptive quantitative approach with a survey method. The population consists of 89 students from the Library and Information Science Program at Universitas Negeri Padang, class of 2021, selected using a total sampling technique. Data were collected using a closed-ended questionnaire based on five key indicators of information-seeking behavior: information need identification, information seeking strategy, evaluation and selection of information, use of information, and ongoing search. The results show that students actively use TikTok as an initial source of information that triggers awareness of their information needs, helps develop search strategies, and supports the writing process. TikTok, especially the @wifau account, plays a significant role as an alternative medium that fosters students’ information literacy. This study indicates a shift in students’ information-seeking patterns toward the use of dynamic and visual-based social media. The findings contribute to a better understanding of how informal digital platforms are integrated into academic information behavior, suggesting new opportunities for educators and information professionals to support learning through relevant social media content

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskripsikan bagaiaman pengalaman pemustaka terhadap program Transformasi Perpustakaan Berbasis Inklusi Sosial di Dinas Kerasipan dan Perpustakaan Provinsi Sumatera Barat. Penelitian ini menggunakan jenis kuantitatif dengan metode deskriptif. Teknik penentuan sampel adalah dengan sampling total, yaitu pengembangan dari teknik non probability sampling, dimana semua anggota populasi digunakan sebagai sampel, hal ini dilakukan bila jumlah populasi relative kecil. Teknik pengumpulan data dilakukan dengan metode penyebaran kuisioner/angket. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan (1) perolehan skor rata-rata untuk indikator useful (manfaat) adalah 3,43 dengan tingkat kepuasan sangat baik, (2) skor rata-rata untuk indikator usable (kemudahan) sebesar 3,25 dengan tingkat kepuasan baik, (3) skor rata-rata untuk indikator desirable (daya tarik emosional) sebesar 3,44 dengan tingkat kepuasan dangat baik, (4) skor rata-rata untuk indikator findable (mudah ditemukan) sebesar 3,12 dengan tingkat kepuasan baik, (5) skor rata-rata untuk indikator accessible (aksesibilitas) sebesar 3,19 dengan tingkat kepuasan baik, (6) skor rata-rata untuk indikator credible (kredibilitas) sebesar 3,31 dengan tingkat kepuasan sangat baik, dan (7) skor rata-rata untuk indikator valuable (nilai tambah) sebesar 3,18 dengan tingkat kepuasan baik. Perolehan skor akhir rata-rata untuk seluruh indikator pengalaman pemustaka sebesar 3,27 dengan tingkat kepuasan sangat baik. Dengan demikian, dapat dikatakan bahwa pengalaman pemustaka terhadap program inklusi sosial tersebut dirasa sangat baik.

Abstract

The objectives of this research are: (1) to describe the availability of collections in the Payakumbuh 6 Public Middle School Library; (2) to describe the information needs of students at SMP Negeri 6 Payakumbuh; (3) to describe the influence of collection availability on the information needs of students at SMP Negeri 6 Payakumbuh.This research is a type of quantitative research with descriptive methods. Data was obtained through distributing questionnaires directly at SMP Negeri 6 Payakumbuh. The population in this study was class IX students, totaling 128 students. The sampling technique used random sampling technique with 56 respondents. In this research, the data analysis technique uses quantitative descriptive statistics. Based on the results of the analysis, the results obtained are, first, the availability of collections in the Library of SMP Negeri 6 Payakumbuh has been categorized as good with an average value of 3.16, second, the information needs of students at SMP Negeri 6 Payakumbuh can be categorized as good with an average value of 3.20, third is the influence of collection availability on the information needs of students at SMP Negeri 6 Payakumbuh, namely the collection availability variable (X) influences the information needs variable (Y), the R value is 0.833 with a value of 69.4%, the remaining 30.6% is influenced by factors -other factors. So it can be said to be good.

Abstract

This activity aims to provide an understanding of the application of digital media in creating and documenting official letters carried out at SMPN Padang Pariaman Regency. Based on observations, it is known that the structure and language used in official letters are still not in accordance with Indonesian language rules. Apart from that, it was also found that the preparation and storage of archives within the school was still inadequate. School archives or documents are arranged in cabinets, so it takes a long time to find them, and they are not well maintained due to improper arrangement and storage. Therefore, an activity is needed to correct errors in writing official letters and documenting existing school archives. Based on this explanation, it is necessary to carry out training activities regarding the creation and documentation of digital-based official letters using the Arteri application at State Middle Schools in Padang Pariaman Regency, West Sumatra. The research results show that in letter writing activities, it is important to know the structure and language of the letter so that it becomes easier to write a good and correct letter. Apart from that, documenting letters is important because it refers to the current digital era, so other roles are needed for changing times. By utilizing technology that will make the documentation process easier.

Abstract

In the midst of globalization and technological advances, libraries are required to transform into centers of social inclusion that are able to encourage socio-economic development. This study aims to describe the effectiveness of the knitting class program in developing a social inclusion-based library implemented by the West Sumatra Provincial Archives and Libraries Office. The research method used is a quantitative approach with a descriptive survey design. The research sample was 30 program participants who were determined using the saturated sample technique. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and the distribution of Likert-scale questionnaires that had been tested for validity and reliability. Data analysis techniques used descriptive statistics, including editing, tabulation, frequency distribution, and percentages. To maintain data validity, triangulation techniques and discussions with peers were applied. The results showed that the knitting class program was rated effective based on five key indicators: program understanding, targeting accuracy, timeliness, goal achievement, and tangible changes. Participants demonstrated a high understanding of the empowerment goals, as well as experiencing increased skills and tangible economic benefits from the program. In addition, the program implementation ran on time and was able to form a new social network through the knitting community. In conclusion, the knitting class program contributed positively to the development of a social inclusion-based library and became a good practice in supporting the socio-economic development of the community in a sustainable manner.
