Abstract

This study examines the concept of uswah hasanah in Surah Al-Ahzab verse 21 as a theological and pedagogical foundation for prophetic moral education in Islam. The background of this research is the global moral crisis, marked by the rise of individualism, materialism, and the reduction of education to a merely technical-cognitive process that neglects ethical and spiritual dimensions. The objective of this research is to analyze the theological and pedagogical dimensions of uswah hasanah, to explore the relevance of Prophet Muhammad’s ﷺ moral values in the context of modern Islamic education, and to formulate a prophetic educational model that is responsive to the challenges of globalization and digitalization. This study employs a qualitative approach based on a literature review, using content analysis of classical Ahlussunnah wal Jama‘ah tafsir, classical Islamic educational works, and contemporary educational literature. The findings indicate that uswah hasanah embodies three main dimensions of prophetic education: the spiritual dimension (tazkiyah al-nafs), the moral dimension (ta’dib), and the social dimension (mas’uliyyah insaniyyah). The Prophet Muhammad’s ﷺ exemplary character is understood not merely as a normative principle but as a pedagogical paradigm that integrates faith (iman), knowledge (‘ilm), and action (‘amal) in the character formation process. This study emphasizes the need to reorient Islamic education from an instructional-cognitive approach toward character development grounded in the lived example of the Prophet. Practically, this research proposes a prophetic education model that positions the teacher as a living example (uswah amaliyah), integrates prophetic values into the curriculum, and fosters a cultured, ethical educational environment in response to the contemporary moral crisis.

Abstract

This study aims to formulate a framework of Tazkiyah-Based Digital Resilience through a hermeneutical synthesis of the educational thoughts of Al-Ghazali and Ibn Qayyim al-Jawziyyah in response to the moral and psychological crises faced by students in the digital era. Using a qualitative library research design grounded in Hans-Georg Gadamer’s philosophical hermeneutics, this research applies the concept of fusion of horizons to integrate classical Islamic texts with contemporary digital challenges such as doomscrolling, algorithmic addiction, and ethical disorientation on social media. The findings reveal that Al-Ghazali provides an epistemological foundation by positioning the qalb (heart) as the center of moral consciousness and knowledge discernment, while Ibn Qayyim contributes a transformative methodological framework through the stages of maqāmāt and practices of mujāhadah. The synthesis of both perspectives results in an applicative pedagogical model in which mujāhadah is reinterpreted as digital self-discipline, muraqabah as digital integrity, and muhāsabah as reflective information auditing. This framework offers a conceptual contribution to Islamic Religious Education by shifting moral education from external regulation toward internalized spiritual resilience, enabling students to navigate digital environments with ethical awareness, self-control, and spiritual maturity.

Abstract

The state bears a constitutional obligation to ensure equal access to public services, including marriage registration, for all citizens, including people with disabilities. However, in practice, the accessibility of marriage services at the Office of Religious Affairs (KUA) remains limited. This study aims to examine the inclusivity of marriage services for people with disabilities at four KUAs in Surabaya: Tambaksari, Sawahan, Semampir, and Wonokromo. Using a sociological jurisprudence design, this empirical study collected data through observation and in-depth interviews with KUA heads and penghulus (marriage registrars). The findings reveal significant disparities in physical and non-physical accessibility, with only the Sawahan KUA demonstrating minimal infrastructure readiness. Other KUAs still face structural barriers, a lack of assistive facilities, and the absence of sign language interpreters. In response, marriage registrars employ discretionary practices, such as non-verbal consent mechanisms and family-assisted communication, as survival innovations to ensure the validity of marriage procedures. However, these practices remain partial and non-standardized, potentially leading to legal uncertainty and unequal access to services. From a human rights and Islamic law perspective, these limitations reflect a gap between normative guarantees and empirical reality, particularly regarding the fulfillment of the principles of equality and non-discrimination. This study advocates a paradigm shift from a charitable to a rights-based approach, ideally supported by technical regulations, inclusive infrastructure, and institutional capacity-building, to ensure dignified and equal access to marriage services for persons with disabilities.

Abstract

The Petik Laut tradition represents a form of local wisdom among coastal communities that reflects the close relationship between humans, the environment, and belief systems. Amid increasing ecological challenges, this cultural practice becomes important to examine as a form of community adaptation to environmental changes. This study aims to analyze the Petik Laut tradition in Lapa Laok Village, Sumenep, as a manifestation of ecological adaptation among coastal communities through a cultural ecology approach. This research employs a qualitative method, with data collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation involving community leaders and participants of the tradition. The data were analyzed through processes of reduction, display, and verification to identify patterns of interaction between culture and the environment. The results indicate that the Petik Laut tradition serves not only as a ritual of gratitude but also as a mechanism for ecological adaptation, reflected in practices such as the temporary suspension of fishing activities, the preservation of water resources through the protection of wells, and the prohibition against cutting down large trees in specific areas. Furthermore, the integration of religious, social, and ecological values at every stage of the ritual strengthens the community’s collective awareness of maintaining environmental balance. This study contributes to the field of cultural ecology by demonstrating that local traditions are not merely cultural heritage but also serve as sustainable strategies for addressing socio-ecological challenges at both local and global levels.

Abstract

This study examines the role of digital financial inclusion in reducing poverty in Indonesia within the framework of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Digital financial inclusion is increasingly viewed as a strategic instrument for expanding access to formal financial services, particularly for low-income households, micro-enterprises, rural communities, women, and previously unbanked populations. Indonesia provides an important case because the country has experienced rapid digital financial transformation through mobile banking, e-wallets, QRIS, branchless banking, fintech lending, and digital government-to-person payments. At the same time, poverty reduction remains a central development agenda. BPS reported that Indonesia’s poverty rate declined to 8.47 percent in March 2025, equivalent to 23.85 million people, and further declined to 8.25 percent in September 2025, equivalent to 23.36 million people. Using a qualitative-descriptive approach supported by secondary data from BPS, OJK, Bank Indonesia, World Bank, and relevant academic literature, this study analyzes the mechanisms through which digital financial inclusion contributes to poverty reduction. The findings indicate that digital financial inclusion supports poverty reduction through four main pathways: expanding access to savings and payments, improving access to productive credit, strengthening micro and small enterprises, and increasing the efficiency of social assistance distribution. However, the study also finds that digital financial inclusion does not automatically reduce poverty unless supported by digital literacy, consumer protection, equitable infrastructure, affordable internet access, and inclusive regulatory frameworks. OJK’s 2024 national survey showed Indonesia’s financial literacy index at 65.43 percent and financial inclusion index at 75.02 percent, indicating progress but also a remaining gap between access and effective use.mThe study concludes that digital financial inclusion can become a powerful SDGs-oriented poverty reduction instrument in Indonesia when it is integrated with inclusive economic policy, MSME empowerment,  social protection reform, and digital capability development. The main contribution of this article is to position digital financial inclusion not merely as a technological innovation, but as a development strategy that must be socially embedded, institutionally regulated, and directed toward distributive justice.
