Abstract

Kata Kunci: Stroke, Gangguan Muskuloskeletal, Range of Motion (ROM)

Abstract

Dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF) is an infectious disease caused by dengue virus infection transmitted through the bite of the Aedes aegypti mosquito. This disease remains a serious public health problem because it can lead to fatal conditions and even death if not treated promptly. Simple preventive measures can be carried out through the 3M behavior, namely draining water storage containers, covering water containers to prevent mosquito breeding, and reusing or recycling used items. In addition, the use of mosquito repellent is also considered effective in reducing the risk of mosquito bites that cause DHF. This study aimed to determine the relationship between 3M behavior and the habit of using mosquito repellent with the incidence of DHF in the working area of Dempo Public Health Center, Palembang City, in 2025. This study used an observational analytic approach with a cross-sectional design. The sample consisted of 30 respondents selected using purposive sampling technique. Data were collected through questionnaires and observations, then analyzed using the chi-square test. The results showed that there was a significant relationship between 3M behavior and the incidence of DHF (p-value 0.001 < 0.05). Likewise, the use of mosquito repellent was significantly associated with the incidence of DHF (p-value 0.0002 < 0.05). Consistency in implementing 3M behavior accompanied by the use of mosquito repellent can reduce the risk of DHF.

Abstract

Hypertension is one of the most common health problems experienced by the elderly and is often accompanied by acute pain complaints. Non-pharmacological management such as warm foot soak therapy can be an alternative to lower blood pressure as well as reduce pain. This study aimed to implement nursing care with the intervention of warm foot soak therapy in elderly patients with hypertension experiencing acute pain. The research method used was a case study design involving two elderly hypertensive patients at Bhayangkara Mohamad Hasan Hospital, Palembang, in 2025. The intervention was carried out by soaking the patients’ feet in warm water at a temperature of 37–40 °C for 15–30 minutes, once a day for three consecutive days. Data were collected through observations of blood pressure and pain scale using an assessment sheet. The results showed a decrease in blood pressure in both patients, from 180/80 mmHg to 150/80 mmHg and from 170/90 mmHg to 140/80 mmHg. In addition, the pain scale decreased significantly, from 5 to 1 and from 4 to 2. In conclusion, warm foot soak therapy is effective as a non-pharmacological nursing intervention to help reduce blood pressure and relieve pain in elderly patients with hypertension.
