Abstract

ABSTRACT Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) is the main cause that has been identified as the etiology of cervical cancer. HPV vaccination has been shown to be effective in reducing the risk of women being exposed to the HPV infection. The government has made it mandatory to provide free HPV vaccination for school children to prevent cervical cancer in the future, but the vaccination rate of this vaccination is still low due to parental refusal, myths about adolescent sexuality and various other obstacles. This community service activity in the form of health education aims to increase the knowledge of schoolgirls about cervical cancer and its prevention through vaccination. Health education was held offline for 30 female students at Yamas Junior High School (SMP) Yamas, Halim, East Jakarta, using the lecture method and followed by discussion sessions. Participants' knowledge of cervical cancer and HPV vaccination was also evaluated, both before and after giving the educational materials. Educational activities are also interspersed with ice breaking sessions. A total of 30 female students participated in educational activities. Before giving the material, the participant's pretest score was 27.3 and there was an increase in the posttest score to 77.63 after the education was given. The range of increasing pretest to posttest scores was 50.33 points. The results of the paired t test showed that there was a significant difference between the mean pretest and posttest scores (p value 0.001, 95% CI). The results of the statistical tests indicated that there was a significant increase in the knowledge score between before and after the provision of education. Thus, health education activities can facilitate increased knowledge of female students about cervical cancer and HPV vaccination. The community service team submitted recommendations to the school so that they could organize similar health promotion activities to be able to increase the knowledge and confidence or self-efficacy of teenage girls to get the HPV vaccination. Keywords: Cervical Cancer, Vaccination, Human Papilloma Virus (HPV), Adolescents, Knowledge

Abstract

Postpartum mothers with twins are more prone to mental health problems, particularly anxiety. However, research regarding the appropriate interventions to overcome anxiety in postpartum mothers with twins is limited. Anxiety has an impact on the health of both mother and baby. We conducted a pilot study to minimize the risks to mothers and babies, which was supportive postpartum care (SPC). The study was performed to five postpartum mothers with twins during hospitalization. SPC was employed by providing physical support, which was in the form of breast care and oxytocin massage, psychological support in the form of relaxation techniques, information support in the form of education, and advocacy support in the form of husband involvement. This method was effective for postpartum mothers with twins in reducing anxiety, increasing breastfeeding effectiveness, increasing knowledge, and improving the husband’s involvement in care. This study showed that SPC can reduce postpartum anxiety among postpartum mothers with twins effectively. A very good increase of LATCH score and knowledge were reported in 3 out of 5 mothers. Families, especially husbands, were advised to continue providing care support through the role division at home.

Abstract

Premenstrual Syndrome (PMS) is a common condition among menstruating women, often influenced by factors such as sleep quality and stress levels. Final-year female students are particularly vulnerable to sleep disturbances and academic stress. This study analyzes the relationship between sleep quality and academic stress with PMS among final-year nursing students at UPN “Veteran” Jakarta. A Cross-Sectional design was used, and data was collected in November 2024. The study involved 188 final-year students: Bachelor of Nursing (79 respondents), Diploma in Nursing (45 respondents), and Professional Nurse Education Program (64 respondents), selected through Stratified Convenience Sampling. Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI), Student-Life Stress Inventory (SLSI), and Shortened Premenstrual Assessment Form (SPAF) were used to measure sleep quality, academic stress, and PMS. Data were collected via online questionnaires and analyzed using the chi-square test. Results revealed a significant relationship between sleep quality (p = 0.000; OR = 5,989) and academic stress (p = 0.000; OR = 28,761) with PMS. Students with poor sleep quality had a 6-fold higher risk of severe PMS, while those with high academic stress had a 29-fold higher risk. This study emphasizes the importance of maintaining healthy lifestyles, such as improving time management to enhance sleep quality and adopting coping strategies to reduce academic stress, thereby minimizing PMS complaints

Abstract

Cervical cancer is a disease caused by the Human papillomavirus (HPV) infection that affects the cervix. The government has made efforts in the primary prevention of cervical cancer through HPV vaccination as a national immunization program aimed at girls aged 9-14 years. Abstract

Adolescents are a group at risk of HIV exposure. At this age, adolescents have a high curiosity, so if it is not followed by an attitude that cares about HIV prevention efforts, then the attitude will lead adolescents to behave at risk of HIV, such as premarital sex and injecting drug use. One preventive method that can be taken is to provide education through audio-visual media. This media can help improve learning outcomes and motivation. This study aims to analyze the impact of health education about HIV through audio-visual media on HIV prevention behavior among adolescents in a high school in Tangerang Regency. The study method was quantitative with a quasi-experimental design using one group pre-post design. Instrument of the study was Sexual Behavioral Abstinence and Avoidance of High-Risk Situation Questionnaire (SBAHAQ). Respondents were selected using purposive sampling. The respondents watched audio-visual media (6:50 minutes) about HIV prevention. The pre-test was conducted before the intervention and the post-test was conducted 21 days after the intervention. The total number of respondents was 59 and age ranged between 15 and 18 years. The average score of HIV prevention behavior increased from 11.03 to 13.27 after the intervention with p value 0,001.
