Abstract

This study evaluates the therapeutic potential of bioactive molecules derived from Spirulina platensis such as gallic acid, quercetin, acacetin, and pinocembrin in promoting chronic wound healing using a multiligand in silico approach. This strategy may accelerate drug delivery by efficiently identifying potent candidates. Here, four key protein targets involve in wound healing, transforming growth factor-β (TGF-β), tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), vascular endothelial growth factor receptor 2 (VEGFR2), and Kelch-like ECH-associated protein 1 (KEAP1), were selected based on their pivotal roles in modulating inflammatory responses, tissue proliferation, angiogenesis, and oxidative stress regulation. Molecular docking simulations revealed that the compound combinations of gallic acid–quercetin and acacetin–pinocembrin exhibited the most favorable binding affinities (−13.21 to −15.567 kcal/mol), surpassing the binding energies of native ligands. These combinations demonstrated strong potential to attenuate the overexpression of pro-inflammatory mediators (TGF-β and TNF-α) and to activate the Nrf2 antioxidant pathway through KEAP1 inhibition. Additionally, quercetin and pinocembrin were predicted to modulate VEGFR2-mediated angiogenesis in a controlled manner. Overall, Spirulina-derived bioactive displayed promising synergistic and multitarget interactions that could facilitate and accelerate the wound healing process. These findings provide a rational basis for the development of Spirulina-based topical therapeutics, although subsequent in vitro and in vivo validation is required to substantiate their efficacy

Abstract

Peptides derived from the phycocyanin pigment of Spirulina plantesis were screened to identify potential natural antibacterial candidates. In silico protein hydrolysis was performed to obtain active peptides, and a multiple molecular docking (MLD) approach was used to to predict the synergistic mechanisms of various peptide combinations with their respective receptors. Nine phycocyanin peptides showed interaction values ranging from -5.1 to -6.0 kcal/mol, compared to the native ligand (BB-78485) with a value of -9.7 kcal/mol. The results demonstrated a synergistic effect, as the binding affinity of peptide combinations exceeded that of individual peptides and the native ligand. Hydrophobic bonds and van der Waals forces played a crucial role in binding to the active site of 2VES proteins. However, ADME studies revealed that two peptides, YCL and ASYF, had poor pharmacokinetic properties. Overall, this study highlights the potential of phycocyanin peptides as antibacterial agents through the application of MLD.

Abstract

AbstractThe teaching materials on chemistry integrated into Islam are not yet available at the university level. Teaching materials can be used in learning activities. This study aims to develop integrated Islamic chemistry teaching materials for environmental chemistry courses. This research uses the Four Steps Material Teaching Development method (4STMD). 4STMD consists of four stages, namely the selection stage, structuring stage, characterisation stage, and reduction stage. At the stage of selection and structuring, the results of integration between environmental chemistry subjects and the Qur’an, Hadith, Fiqih, and Aqeedah Morals are obtained. At the characterisation stage, the concepts tested have easy characteristics, with an overall score of 86.9%. Based on the characterisation test results, the reduction phase in this research was not carried out because all concepts have easy characteristics. The completed teaching materials are then tested for feasibility by experts based on material aspects, presentation, language, and graphics. Based on the results of the feasibility test of the teaching materials, the average score is 95%. This shows that the teaching materials are considered worthy with a ‘very good’ predicate.AbstrakBahan ajar kimia terintegrasi keislaman belum tersedia di tingkat Universitas.
