Abstract

This study aims to determine the optimal concentration of Bacillus licheniformis required in the formation of liquid sugar from cassava waste, the value of sugar and value starch contained in degraded cassava skin waste. The design used in this study was Completely Randomized Design (RAL) with 4 treatment concentration of cassava leaf extract (Manihot utilissima Pohl.), Ie 0 concentration, 1.5 ml concentration, 2.5 ml concentration and 3.5 ml of concentration B. licheneformis. Data were analyzed using analisis (ANOVA) followed by Duncan's range test (DMRT) with a 5% confidence level. The results of the study showed that all treatments had a significant effect on the administration of B. licheniformis concentrations. Treatment using 1.5 ml B. licheniformis concentration on cassava skin substrate weighing 1 gram after Duncan's test range (DMRT) with 5% confidence level resulted Reduction sugar value of 6.07%.

Abstract

Angso Duo Market is the largest traditional market in the city of Jambi, with an area of ​​± 5 Ha. The amount of waste produced by Angso Duo market every day is around 105 tons per day with a ratio of 70% biodegradable waste, 25% recycled (organic and paper) and 5% other waste. Of the 75% of waste that is around 60% is waste in the form of vegetables, most of which are mustard and cabbage. Vegetable waste has great potential to be used as organic fertilizer because it has good and complex nutrients such as protein, fat carbohydrates, calcium, phosphorus, iron, vitamins A, B and C, folic acid, fiber, water and sodium. The advantage of liquid organic fertilizer is that it contains enough nitrogen as a constituent of plant protein and chlorophyll. The results showed 6 types of bacteria namely Planococus, Neisseria, Halobacter, Azomonas, Azotobacter and Bruccella which were formulated into liquid fertilizers with a basic substrate of vegetable cabbage and mustard waste.Then tested the ability of bacteria to dissolve nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium as potential bacteria as liquid fertilizer

Abstract

Abstract. This study aims to determine the diversity of zooplankton in Lake Sipin. This study uses a descriptive exploratory method by determining the location by purposive sampling. The results showed that found 6 zooplankton classes, namely: Tubulinea, Monogononta, Maxillopoda, Euglenophyceae, Imbricatea, and Eurotatoria consisting of 15 types, namely: Arcella sp., Difflugia globulosa, Difflugia limnetica, Difflugia pyriformis, Asplanchna sp., Brachionus sp., Cyclopoid sp., Macrocyclops varians, Trachelomonas rachiborskii, Euglypa cristata, Polyartha trigla, Trichocerca sp., Trichocerca birostris, Trichocerca bicristata. Abundance ranges from 0.0031 Ind / L - 0.0051 Ind / L; Evenness index ranges from 0.876 - 0.915; diversity index 1.41 - 2.164; and a dominance index of 0.128 - 0.292. Diversity is classified as moderate because the diversity index obtained is greater than 1 and smaller than 3 and no species dominates. It can be concluded that the highest diversity is found in the Tubulinea class. Lake water quality can be tolerated by zooplankton because it tends to have good value. Researchers are advised to conduct research at night to see the relationship between the distribution of zooplankton with the intensity of sunlight, as well as conducting research by determining the location of more diffuse points.

Abstract

Indonesia has a wealth of biodiversity in the form of various types of fungi, one of which is the black ear fungus (Auricularia polytricha) which is known to contain chemical compounds with the potential to inhibit the growth of pathogenic fungi. This study aims to determine the effect of black ear fungus extract hair tonic on the growth of Malassezia furfur and the best concentration in inhibiting the growth of M. furfur. This type of research is a quantitative study with an experimental method with a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) consisting of 6 treatments, namely: P0: hair tonic brand X, P1: hair tonic without extract, P2: hair tonic extract black ear fungus with a concentration of 10%, P3: 30%, P4: 50%, and P5: 70% with 4 repetitions. The parameters observed were the diameter of the inhibition zone indicating antifungal activity with the best concentration, as well as the hair tonic evaluation test (organoleptic test, pH test, viscosity test, and irritation test). The data obtained were analyzed using ANOVA and continued with the DNMRT test with a confidence level of 95%. The results showed that black ear fungus extract hair tonic had an effect on the growth of M. furfur. The results of the DNMRT test showed that P0 was significantly different from other treatments. Treatment P1 was also significantly different from other treatments. Hair tonic extract concentrations of 10% (P2), 30% (P3), and 50% (P4) were not significantly different. Hair tonic with the highest concentration of 70% (P5) was significantly different from other treatments and had a very strong antifungal category. The conclusion of this study is that there is antifungal activity of black ear fungus extract hair tonic on the growth of M. furfur, and the best concentration of antifungal hair tonic is 70%.

Abstract

Balai Benih Ikan Simpang Karmio merupakan salah satu dari sepuluh Balai Benih Ikan lokal yang tersebar dari sembilan kabupaten di provinsi Jambi yang mampu menghasilkan berbagai macam banih ikan air tawar, diantaranya yaitu benih ikan patin. Tahun 2008 telah terjadi kematian benih ikan patin di Balai Benih Ikan Simpang Karmio dalam jumlah yang cukup besar dan sampai saat ini masih terdapat banih ikan yang mati dengan gejala seperti bintik putih pada kulit, sirip rusak, borok pada kulit. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bakteri yang terdapat pada Anak  ikan patin (Pangasius pangasius Ham.Buch) yang sakit di Benih Ikan Simpang Karmio Kabupaten Batanghari. Penelitian dilakukan pada bulan Februari sampai dengan April 2011 di laboraturium UP-MIPA Universitas Jambi. Benih ikan patin yang dijadikan sampel diambil dari Balai Benih Ikan Simpang Karmio kabupaten Batanghari. Proses identifikasi dilakukan melalui tahapan pengamatan morfologi koloni bakteri, pewarnaan gram, dan uji biokimia. Uji biokimia yang dilakukan yaitu, uji fermentasi karbohidrat, uji oksidatif-fermentatif, uji H2S, uji produksi indol, uji penggunaan sitrat, uji katalase, uji TSIA, uji manitol inositol, uji sitokrom oksidase, dan uji motilitas.Dari hasil penelitian yang telah dilakukan dapat disimpulkan bahwa, genus bakteri yang terdapat pada anak ikan patin (Pangasius pangasius Ham.Buch) yang sakit di Balai Benih Ikan Simpang Karmio Kabupaten Batanghari adalah Lactobacillus, Aeromonas, Pseudomonas, Enterobacter
