Abstract

A prototype measurement of rainfall intensity was developed using a CCD TSL1401CL linear sensor array. The prototype consists of a He-Ne laser that functions as a light source, which later is focused by the beam expander and conditioned by a convex lens. Each pixel will receive the same voltage depending on the light intensity so that it produces a decimal value of ADC. This ADC decimal value determines rainfall intensity based on the diameter and velocity of the raindrops. The diameter variations used ranges from 1 mm to 10 mm, while for variations in the height of rainfall are 50 cm, 100 cm, and 150 cm. The test results proved that the greater the decimal value of the ADC is, the smaller the diameter of the raindrops detected will be, and vice versa. The values of the diameter and velocity of were used to obtain the value of rainfall intensity. The percentage value of error measuring rainfall intensity is 3.11% when compared to the rain gauge module is still considered rather accurate. However, direct testing is still needed when rain falls with various types and intensities.

Abstract

AbstractThe Bright band (BB) measurement from NS scan on Global Precipitation Measurement (GPM) had been compared with Micro Rain Radar (MRR) which is installed in Kototabang, West Sumatera (0.23o S; 100.32oE; 865 m above sea level). The GPM data were collected from December 2014 to June 2018 and compared with MRR observation from January 2012 to August 2016. The BB values from these instruments were also compared with the values recommended by the International Telecommunication Union Recommendation (ITU-R) P.839. The BB from GPM and MRR shown slightly diurnal and seasonal variations. BB observations from GPM and MRR show good agreement with slightly difference in diurnal and seasonal variations. BB observations are more similar when the intensity of solar radiation is lower, ie at night (18.00-24.00 LT) until dawn (00.00-06.00 LT). Furthermore, MRR determined a slight bimodal pattern in the seasonal variation while GPM did not, it cause variation in observation of both instrument quite significant in seasonal variation. The largest different from the seasonal variation was observed in the summer season (Juni-August(JJA)). Moreover the measurement of the mean BB is still below the Freezing Height Level (FHL) value from ITU-R model, the measurement of both instruments obtained a high number than FHL considerably (>36 %). It showed the constant value for FHL in West Sumatera that would cause the attenuation estimation of microwaves to be less accurate.

Abstract

Metoda LSI telah menghasilkan citra pola spekel sampel lapisan tipis TiO2. Analisis pola spekel dan ukuran bulir spekel program pencitraan autokorelasi Matlab 7 digunakan untuk melihat perubahan yang terjadi pada sampel lapisan tipis TiO2 akibat pengaruh variasi suhu pemanasan (100, 150 dan 200C). Ukuran bulir spekel lapisan tipis TiO2 semakin meningkat akibat kenaikan suhu pemanasan pada jumlah pelapisan yang sama. Hasil olah pola spekel memperlihatkan ukuran bulir spekel terkecil yang dapat hitung adalah 45 μm dan bulir lapisan tipis TiO2 tersebar semakin merata akibat penambahan suhu pemanasan.

Abstract

This work evaluated the performance of International Telecommunication Union-Radiocommunication Sector (ITU-R) P.837-6 and P.837-7 models (Annex 1) to estimate one-minute rainfall rates in Indonesia. In addition to the default ITU-R P.837-6, the input of ITU-R P.837-6 is also modified using data which has better spatial resolution, i.e. a combination of Tropical Rainfall Measuring Mission (TRMM) 3A25 and 3B43 (ITU-R+3A25+3B43), 3B42 and 3B43 (ITU-R+3B42+3B43), Global Satellite Mapping of Precipitation (ITU-R+GSMaP), and Global Precipitation Measurement (ITU-R+GPM). Among the five test sites, the default ITU-R P.837-6 and ITU-R+3A25+3B43 could predict one-minute rainfall rates at two locations accurately. The ITU-R P.837-7 exhibited a marginally better performance for sites that had a high percentage of very heavy rain, particularly at large (1%) and small (0.001%) percentages of time exceeded. The spatial distribution of rainfall rate produced by ITU-R P.837-7 and ITU-R+3A25+3B43 was closer to the pattern demonstrated by recent satellite precipitation measurements.

Abstract

The climatology of the vertical profile of raindrops size distribution (DSD) over Sumatra Region (10° S – 10° N, 90° E – 110° E) has been investigated using Global Precipitation Measurement (GPM) level 2 data from January 2015 to June 2018. DSD's vertical profile was observed through a vertical profile of corrected radar reflectivity (Ze) and two parameters of normalized gamma DSD, i.e., mass-weight mean diameter (Dm) and total drops concentration (Nw). Land-ocean contrast and rain type dependence of DSD over Sumatra were clearly observed. The values of Dm and Nw were larger in the land than in the ocean. Negative and positive gradients of Dm toward the surface were dominant during stratiform and convective rains, respectively, consistent with the Z gradient. Moreover, the negative gradient of stratiform rain in the ocean is larger than in land. Thus, the depletion of large drops is dominant over the ocean, which is due to the break-up process that can be observed from the increase of Nw. Raindrop growth of convective rains is more robust over the ocean than land that can be seen from a larger value of Dmgradient. The BB strength is slightly larger over land and coastal region than over the ocean, indicating that the riming process is more dominant over land and coastal regions than the ocean. Doi: 10.28991/esj-2021-01274 Full Text: PDF

Abstract

Telah dirancang sistem pengukuran frekuensi getaran akustik berbasis directional coupler serat optik. Pembuatan directional coupler dilakukan dengan mengupas coating dan cladding serat optik dan menggandengkan core nya. Sensor berbasis directional coupler serat optik yang dibuat dengan tiga variasi panjang kupasan dan dipilih berdasarkan nilai coupling ratio. Sistem pengukuran terdiri dari sumber cahaya dioda laser dengan panjang gelombang 532 nm, serat optik FD-620-10 terkopel, fotodioda OPT101 sebagai detektor, pre-amplifier BC547 sebagai pengkondisi sinyal, mikrokontroler Arduino UNO sebagai pengolah sinyal dan LCD sebagai output visual hasil pengukuran. Mikrokontroler Arduino UNO menghitung jumlah cacahan perubahan tegangan keluaran fotodioda OPT 101 yang telah dikondisikan pada rangkaian pre-amplifier. Tampilan pada LCD digunakan untuk mengukur frekuensi getaran akustik dengan mendeteksi perubahan tegangan keluaran fotodioda OPT101. Perubahan terjadi akibat pergeseran posisi sumber getaran terhadap serat optik. Sumber getaran berupa speaker piezoelektrik yang dibangkitkan dengan function generator. Pengujian dan analisis data menunjukkan bahwa sistem sensor mampu mengukur frekuensi getaran akustik pada rentang 100 Hz – 40.000 Hz dengan ketelitian 99,65 %.

Abstract

Analisis nilai intensitas citra tetesan air dengan metode Laser Speckle Imaging telah dilakukan. Penelitian ini menggunakan sistem perancangan forward-scattering. Sistem terdiri dari tiga unit yaitu transmitter sebagai sumber cahaya menggunakan laser He–Ne, receiver sebagai detektor menggunakan CCD (Charge Couple Device), dan penampil menggunakan PC. Transmitter dan receiver diposisikan sejajar dengan jarak yang telah diatur agar berkas cahaya laser menyinari detektor CCD pada sudut 00 untuk mendapatkan citra spekel. Intensitas citra spekel dikarakterisasi menggunakan 6 manik-manik dengan diameter berbeda (2,15 - 11,91 mm). Nilai intensitas citra spekel tertinggi didapatkan pada diameter manik-manik 2,15 mm yaitu 254,62 a.u dan terendah pada manik-manik 11,91 mm yaitu 224,5 a.u. Hasil karakteriasi menunjukkan bahwa intensitas citra spekel menurun ketika objek yang terdeteksi berukuran lebih besar. Hasil yang sama juga didapatkan menggunakan tetesan air dari tabung yang berlubang dengan diameter 1-7 mm. Citra spekel tetesan air dianalisis menggunakan fungsi autokorelasi untuk mendapatkan ukuran bulir spekel. Ukuran bulir spekel terbesar didapatkan pada diameter lubang tetesan 6 mm yaitu 856,87 µm dan terkecil didapatkan pada diameter lubang tetesan 1 mm yaitu 198,15 µm. Hasil yang diperoleh menunjukkan bahwa semakin besar tetesan air, maka nilai intensitas citra spekel menurun dan ukuran bulir spekel membesar.Kata kunci : citra, forward-scattering, gray scale, laser He-Ne, ukuran bulir spekel

Abstract

Telah dilakukan perancangan sistem akuakultur pada fotobioreaktor mikroalga Chlorella vulgaris. Sistem akuakultur pada fotobioreaktor dirancang menggunakan sumber cahaya yang berbeda yaitu cahaya matahari, lampu halogen dan LED biru. Sistem ini berisi 1040 mL mikroalga yang dialiri gas CO2 dengan kecepatan alir 1,5 L/min dan dirancang  dengan alat kontrol temperatur menggunakan sensor LM35. Temperatur pada sistem dipertahankan pada rentang (25-35)°C. Intensitas cahaya pada lampu halogen divariasikan yaitu 1000 Lux, 3000 Lux dan 5000 Lux. Sistem akuakultur yang dirancang dapat meningkatkan kadar oksigen terlarut dengan kadar oksigen terlarut tertinggi yang diperoleh yaitu 7,8 mg/L yang dihasilkan dari sistem akuakultur pada fotobioreaktor dengan sumber cahaya matahari pada jam 13.30 WIB. Untuk sumber cahaya buatan, kadar oksigen terlarut tertinggi diperoleh sebesar 7,7 mg/L pada jam 07.30 WIB ketika disinari lampu halogen 5000 Lux. Aquaculture system design has been carried out on Chlorella vulgaris microalgae  photobioreactors. The aquaculture system in photobioreactors is designed using different light sources namely sunlight, halogen lamp and blue LED. This aquaculture system  contains 1040 mL of microalgae supplied with CO2 gas with a flow rate of 1.5 L/min. The system designed is equipped with a temperature control device using an LM35 sensor. The temperature in the system is maintained in the range (25-35)°C. The intensity of the light in the halogen lamp is varied, namely 1000 Lux, 3000 Lux and 5000 Lux. The designed aquaculture system can increase dissolved oxygen levels obtained 7.8 mg/L produced from the aquaculture system photobioreactor with a source of sunlight at 13.30 WIB. At artificial light sources, the highest dissolved oxygen levels were obtained at 7.7 mg/L at 07.30 WIB when it was illuminated by a 5000 Lux halogen lamp.

Abstract

ABSTRAKTelah dirancang sistem pengontrolan frekuensi getaran menggunakan serat optik dengan metode ekstrinsik. Sensor serat optik digunakan untuk mengukur frekuensi getaran dengan memanfaatkan perubahan tegangan keluaran yang dihasilkan oleh fotodetektor.Tegangan keluaran terjadi akibat perubahan jarak serat optik dengan membran speaker magnet sebagai sumber getarnya. Rancangan sistem kontrol terdiri dari sumber cahaya dari laser dioda, serat optik FD 620-10, fotodetektor OPT 101, mikrokontroler Arduino UNO untuk memproses sinyal, relay dan menggunakan program Delphi sebagai penampil di PC (personal computer). Hasil pengujian sistem kontrol dapat mengontrol getaran pada frekuensi 10 Hz dari rentang pengukuran 1 sampai 30 Hz.Kata kunci: Sistem kontrol, Frekuensi getaran, Serat optik.AbstractA vibration frequency control system using optical fiber has been designed. Optical fiber sensor system is used to measure vibration frequency by utilizing the output voltage change in the resulting by photodetector. The output voltage occurs due to change distance of optical fiber with membrane magnet speaker as a source of vibration. The design of the control system consists of a source of light from the laser, optical fiber FD 620-10, photodetector OPT 101, UNO Arduino microcontroller to process the signal, relay and use Delphi as a viewer program on a PC (personal computer). Results of testing the control system can control the vibration at a frequency of 10 Hz of the measuring range 1 to 30 Hz.Keywords: System control, vibration frequency, fiber optics.

Abstract

Telah dirancang bangun alat ukur frekuensi pernapasan manusia berbasis sensor serat optik dengan metode ekstrinsik. Alat ukur frekuensi pernapasan tersebut terdiri dari laser dioda sebagai sumber cahaya, serat optik FD-620-10 step index multimode sebagai pandu gelombang, dan fotodioda OPT101 sebagai fotodetektor. Arduino UNO R3 digunakan sebagai pengolah data, hasil pengukuran ditampilkan melalui LCD I2C 16x2 karakter dan membran uji berupa membran mikrofon, membran polimer karet yang terbuat dari bahanlateks dan membran polimer dari glukosa (C6H12O6). Pernapasan padamanusia menjadi sumber getaran pada membran. Membran yang bergetar merubah intensitas cahaya yang berasal dari laser dioda melalui serat optik transmitter. Perubahan intensitas cahaya tersebut ditangkap oleh fotodioda OPT101 melalui serat optik receiver. Tegangankeluaran yang dihasilkan oleh fotodioda OPT101 digunakan sebagai indikator untuk mencacah frekuensi pernapasan manusia. Pengujian alat ukur dilakukan dengan variasi umur dan variasi aktivitas. Hasil pengujian menunjukkan, jarak sensor serat optik terhadap membran yang optimal adalah 1 mm dan tegangan keluaran rata-rata sebesar 4,2 volt. Akurasi alat ukur frekuensi pernapasan manusia ini sebesar 91% berdasarkan variasi umur pengguna dan 88% berdasarkan variasi aktivitas pengguna.Kata kunci: fotodioda OPT101, frekuensi, getaran, laser dioda, seratoptik
