Abstract

The partner in this program is the At Taqwa Farm group, Sekura Village. The focus of the At Taqwa Farm group is agriculture and animal husbandry. This group has been established since 2020, and has 55 goat farming. The main problem faced by partners is in the feeding process. So far, partners have provided food by taking grass or leaves with a scythe, then simply giving it to livestock. Based on the partner's problems, the service implementation team provided a solution in the form of applying technology using an animal feed chopper machine to the partners. The stages of service activities include chopping machine design, chopping machine manufacturing, chopping machine performance testing, training on operation and maintenance of chopping machines, as well as handing over chopping machines to partners. The grass chopper machine handed over to the partner can function well in chopping grass for animal feed. This really helps partners increase their grass chopping capacity, making the feed preparation process easier for partners.

Abstract

Various types of power threshers have been developed to suit conditions in the field. The development of the power thresher was also carried out by UPJA Sungai Kelambu Village, Sambas Regency by making a mini power thresher that was designed to suit the conditions of the land and the needs of local farmers. The purpose of this research was to obtain a relationship between threshing rotational speed and performance on the mini power thresher. The threshing cylinder rotational speed was varied at 669 and 778 rpm. The measured performance of the mini power thresher was feeding capacity, threshing capacity, cleanliness, percentage of grain not threshed, percentage of scattered grain, threshing efficiency, percentage of yield loss, fuel consumption, and increase in cracked grain. The test sample used was IR 64 rice. Based on the test results, the rotational speed of the thresher cylinder has a very significant effect on the threshing performance of the mini power thresher. Changes in threshing cylinder rotational speed from 669 rpm to 778 rpm can improve the performance of the mini-power thresher in terms of feed capacity, threshing capacity, threshing cleanliness, percentage of grain scattered, and percentage of yield loss. The decrease in performance is found in fuel consumption and the percentage of cracked grain. The variables that relatively unchanged were the percentage of grain not threshed and threshing efficiency. The operation of this mini power thresher is recommended at a thresher cylinder rotational speed of 778 rpm.

Abstract

Bubur pedas is a traditional food from Sambas Regency which is very popular in West Kalimantan. The development of bubur pedas was carried out by making instant bubur pedas so that this food can be enjoyed anytime and anywhere. The main problem found in the production process is in the drying process of raw materials. Based on these problems, it is necessary to develop a drying system to help the instant bubur pedas production process. Through this research, a performance test of a rotary drum type dryer was carried out to analyze the water content and drying rate of instant bubur pedas raw materials. The raw materials for dried instant bubur pedas are katuk leaves, singkil leaves and fern leaves. The rotary drum type dryer is operated at a rotational speed of 14.5 rpm. The drying process takes 2 hours with data collection every 20 minutes. Based on the measurement results, the initial water content of katuk leaves was 76.66%, singkil leaves were 72.72% and fern leaves were 88.06%. After drying for 2 hours, the water content of katuk leaves dropped to 38.40%, singkil leaves 43.91%, and fern leaves 64.64%. The material that experienced the highest decrease in water content was katuk leaves at 38.26%, followed by singkil leaves at 28.81% and fern leaves at 23.42%. The average drying rate for instant bubur pedas raw materials was fern leaves 0.1213 grams/second, katuk leaves 0.0613 grams/second and singkil leaves 0.0314 grams/second.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the performance of a hybrid coffee dryer with a microcontroller-based temperature control system. The heating sources used are sunlight and electric heater. The type of coffee used is liberica. The research method used is experimental, with the independent variable being time and the dependent variables being temperature and mass. Data collection was carried out for 4 consecutive days, starting at 09.00 WIB to 15.00 WIB with a data collection interval of every 20 minutes. The data measured were the temperature inside and outside the drying room and the mass of coffee before and after the drying process. Data analysis was done based on graphs, determining the drying rate and testing the coffee moisture content. The results showed that the average temperature difference measured inside and outside the drying room for 4 consecutive days was 17.21 oC. The total reduction in coffee mass in the dryer for 4 consecutive days was 572 grams with an average drying rate of 23.83 grams/hour. The results of coffee moisture content testing showed that the hybrid coffee dryer reduced coffee moisture content from 56.01% to 8.79%.

Abstract

The main problem faced by the instant bubur pedas business unit is the filling of pasta seasoning in the packaging. The packaging of seasoning paste is currently done manually by putting the seasoning paste into the plastic packaging using a spoon. The weakness of the manual filling technique was that it has a small filling capacity and needs to be more practical and hygienic. Through this research, an effort was made to overcome these problems by creating a semi-automatic pasta seasoning filling system. This research aims to conduct performance tests on a semi-automatic pasta seasoning filling machine for instant bubur pedas and analyze the relationship between the rotation of the stepper motor and the mass of pasta seasoning coming out of the filling machine. The performance test carried out on the machine is in the form of an analysis of packaging time and packaging capacity. The independent variable was the number of stepper motor revolutions, ranging from 1 to 20. Based on the performance test results, the highest packaging capacity was obtained at 208 packs/hour in the treatment of stepper motor rotation one time, with the number of spices released at 3.29 grams. Increasing the mass of packaged spices requires more stepper motor revolutions, increasing the time needed for each packaging cycle. The stepper motor rotation and the mass of seasoning paste coming out of the filling machine show a consistent linear relationship with a coefficient of determination (R2) value of 0.9983. These results show that this machine can maintain the consistency of the mass of seasoning released per stepper motor rotation. Abstract

The main problem cracker businesses face is the process of cutting cracker dough. Cutting crackers is currently done using a simple cutting tool, but the disadvantages are low cutting capacity, requiring much energy in operation, and low uniformity of cut results. An effort to overcome these problems is to conduct research by developing a cracker dough-cutting machine. The purpose of this research was to test the performance of an automatic cracker dough cutting machine. The independent variables are dough container motion and piece thickness, while the independent variables are piece capacity, piece uniformity, and percentage of damaged pieces. The dough container motion was varied into four treatments, namely 15, 17, 20, and 24 movements/minute. The dough piece thickness was varied into three 1, 2, and 3 mm treatments. Increasing the dough container movement per minute can significantly increase the capacity and percentage of piece damage. The largest capacity was achieved in treating 2 mm thick pieces with 24 dough container movements/minute, resulting in 2,004 pieces/hour. The uniformity of the best-cut results in the 3 mm thick cut with a value of 92.84%. The smallest percentage of piece damage is obtained in the treatment of 1 mm thick pieces with a dough container motion of 15 movements/minute, resulting in a damage percentage of 15.91%.

Abstract

Permasalahan dalam pengolahan makanan tradisional bubur pedas instan adalah tahap pengeringan bahan baku. Bubur pedas instan dengan bahan baku berbagai daun-daun membutuhkan proses pengeringan yang efisien untuk menjaga aroma, warna, dan kandungan gizi daun. Berdasarkan permasalah tersebut, dilakukan pengembangan pengering tipe rotari yang sesuai untuk pengeringan bahan baku bubur pedas instan. Tujuan penelitian yang dilakukan adalah melakukan pengembangan pengering tipe rotari serta melakukan uji performansi pengering tersebut dalam proses pengeringan bahan baku bubur pedas instan. Pengembangan pengering ini dilakukan dengan menambahkan 1 buah drum bagian dalam yang ditutup wiremesh untuk mencegah kontak langsung antara drum pemanas dan bahan baku. Data yang dianalisis dalam penelitian ini mencakup laju pengeringan dan penurunan kadar air. Data tersebut diukur setiap 20 menit dengan waktu proses pengeringan 120 menit. Massa setiap bahan baku yang diuji adalah 200 gram. Hasil pengujian menunjukkan bahwa pengering tipe rotari hasil pengembangan berhasil meningkatkan efisiensi pengeringan. Proses pengeringan selama 120 menit mampu mengurangi kadar air daun pakis 78,69%, daun singkil 61,01% dan daun katuk 54,92%. Kualitas pengeringan menunjukkan hasil yang lebih baik secara visual, dimana  bahan yang dikeringkan lebih hijau.

Abstract

Emping beras merupakan makanan tradisional yang dibuat dari bahan padi muda tradisonal dengan cara ditumbuk menggunakan allu dan lesung. Upaya untuk mengefisiensikan proses pembuatan makanan ini dikembangkan melalui teknik pengolahan mekanis. Melalui penelitian ini, diupayakan pengolahan emping beras secara mekanis melalui rekayasa dan pengujian mesin pemipih emping beras. Pelaksanaan penelitian meliputi desain, pembuatan, dan uji kinerja mesin. Variabel pengujian adalah lama proses penumbukan emping yang divariasikan menjadi 4 perlakuan yaitu selama 3,5,7, dan 10 menit. Data yang diambil adalah persentase dan kapasitas pengempingan. Proses pembuatan mesin pemipihan emping beras meliputi pembuatan poros, sistem pemipihan dan rangka. Mesin hasil rancang bangun memiliki panjang 500 mm, lebar 500 mm dan tinggi 1500 mm. Bahan rangka menggunakan besi siku berukuran 40 x 40 x 3 mm, menggunakan motor listrik berdaya ¼ HP. Sistem transmisi menggunakan gearbox dan puli. Mesin dioperasikan pada kecepatan penumbukan 110 kali/menit. Berdasarkan hasil pengujian, persentase pengempingan diperoleh sebesar 36,19% dengan kapasitas pengempingan 0,43 kg/jam yang didapatkan dengan waktu pemipihan selama 5 menit.

Abstract

Permasalahan limbah sekam padi selama ini adalah tidak dimanfaatkan dengan optimal dan hanya dibiarkan menumpuk. Upaya penanganan masalah tersebut dapat dilakukan melalui pengembangan teknologi penghalusan limbah sekam padi agar dapat dimanfaatkan untuk pakan ternak. Berdasarkan permasalahan tersebut, dilakukan penelitian yang bertujuan merancang bangun mesin penghalus limbah sekam padi dan mengetahui hasil pengujian berupa kapasitas penghalusan limbah sekam padi. Tahapan penelitian meliputi pembuatan rangka, hopper, poros, mata pisau, saringan dan finishing. Spesifikasi mesin yang dihasilkan memiliki dimensi 670 x 250 x 1100 mm, hopper memiliki tinggi 160 mm dan lebar 160 mm, poros memiliki diameter 25 mm, mata pisau silinder berjumlah 3 buah, mata pisau tetap berjumlah 2 buah, sabuk-v tipe A No. 49 berjumlah 1 buah. Hasil pengujian menunjukkan bahwa kapasitas penghalusan limbah sekam padi meningkat seiring dengan naiknya kecepatan putar mesin. Pada kecepatan 700 rpm, rata-rata kapasitasnya hanya 2,59 kg/jam, namun meningkat secara signifikan hingga mencapai rata-rata 4,88 kg/jam pada kecepatan 1.400 rpm. Hal ini membuktikan bahwa kecepatan penghalusan yang lebih tinggi dapat mempercepat proses penghalusan dan meningkatkan volume bahan yang dapat diolah dalam satuan waktu.

Abstract

Sambas State Polytechnic as a Higher Education Institution that has been established since 2008 still does not have an official publishing institution. Efforts to overcome this problem are made by building internal publications that can effectively support academic and research goals. Through community service activities, activities were carried out that aimed to establish an institution-owned publishing named Poltesa Press. Activities carried out include the formation of the organizational structure and single account of Poltesa Press, making the Poltesa Press emblem and website, making books to be published, proposing book ISBNs, printing books and proposing Poltesa Press to become a member of IKAPI. Based on the Decree of the Director of Sambas State Polytechnic, the organizational structure and single account of Poltesa Press were determined. The chosen Poltesa Press symbol was determined based on the results of the Poltesa Press team meeting. The first book published by Poltesa Press was titled “The Surefire Trick of Fishing Shrimp in the River”. The ISBN proposal of the book was submitted to the National Library. Official recognition as a legitimate publisher is done by proposing Poltesa Press to become a member of IKAPI in the West Kalimantan branch board.
