Abstract

Consciousness is a classical discourse among scientists, philosophers, and theologians across time and space. It has become a hard problem from many angles: What it is? How do we approach it? How it is being discussed? What is the objective? Etc. The vast scope of the topic causes consciousness to become an intriguing topic to many disciplines. This paper offers multidisciplinary research to consciousness. This approach enables us to spot the problem, intersection, and division across disciplines. We found that there are convergences and divergences to consciousness as multidisciplinary object of study. First, consciousness is related to the mind, but the location is unclear because of the lack of understanding of human structure. Second, spirituality is closely associated with the study of consciousness but remains secondary in Western hegemonic knowledge production, but it is highly encouraged for mental health practices in Western society. Third, some disagreement in investigating consciousness is on the acknowledgment of soul and the sentiment about religion. The dispute implies to various type of consciousness: consciousness as consciousness, self-consciousness, and God-consciousness. This typology correlates to what extent one’s beliefs. We argue that Islam has the most comprehensive explanation to study consciousness and its cognates.

Abstract

Educational diplomacy has become an important element in international relations, especially in the era of globalization and technological revolution. This research aims to explore the role of United Arab Emirates (UAE) soft power in education diplomacy in Indonesia, particularly in the context of technology transfer and innovation. Using a descriptive-analytical qualitative approach, this research examines the dynamics of bilateral relations between the UAE and Indonesia, through technology-based education initiatives, such as the Alef Education platform. The results show that the United Arab Emirates has utilized various tools in education diplomacy, including technology transfer in Indonesia through Alef Education, proven to improve accessibility and quality of learning in Indonesia. However, the research also found challenges, including cultural differences, regulatory barriers, and limited technology-based education infrastructure, as well as program synergies with the national curriculum to support the sustainability of these programs. This research provides a deep insight into how the UAE's education diplomacy becomes a strategic tool in strengthening bilateral relations and creating long-term impact for Indonesia's education sector. The implications of this research can help identify opportunities for further cooperation in the field of education technology and innovation

Abstract

Abstract

Indonesia, as the country with the largest Muslim population in the world, has big aspirations to become a global halal industry hub. The halal industry encompasses various sectors – from food/beverages, Muslim fashion, halal tourism, cosmetics, pharmaceuticals to Islamic finance – all of which are run in accordance with sharia principles. A macroeconomic review of the development of the halal industry in Indonesia is important given its potential contribution to economic growth, job creation, and Indonesia's position in the global halal economy. This paper will examine five key aspects: the macroeconomic conditions of the halal industry in Indonesia and globally, government support, the role of young people, and a case study of the halal fashion industry, accompanied by a critical discussion of the pros and cons of halal industry development in Indonesia. This analysis draws on the findings of five key studies: AlBanna (2019), Hudaefi & Jaswir (2019), Rusydiana (2023), Julianti et al. (2024), and Rini et al. (2025), to provide an integrated and up-to-date academic perspective.

Abstract

Maqashid al-sharia is one of the crucial pillars in developing and improving the Islamic financial system. Facing the current issue of climate change requires extensive green financing and increasing the need for green financing, which has similar principles to Islamic financial instruments. Last year, the green waqf movement was started, which uses waqf assets to support the achievement of ecological balance and sustainability while providing social and economic impacts for the community. The author intends to conduct maslahah research in green waqf through the maqashid al-sharia approach, including discussing green waqf based on the scheme and the impact to be produced. The methods used are library research and descriptive analysis, with secondary data sourced from books, research papers, conference papers, academic studies, case studies, press releases, and articles accessible in various research libraries and e-databases. Using the maqashid framework, green waqf is known to contain benefits because it is an economic activity that prioritizes the maintenance of religion, soul, mind, descendants, and property. In addition, it can overcome the challenge of environmental damage affecting climate change, be one of the solutions to answer the challenges of the energy crisis, and support sustainable development goals.

Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

Impulse buying behavior is closely related to sudden purchases without careful consideration and ignoring alternatives or future implications that are influenced by the temptation to satisfy momentary emotions. It is also related to the use of wealth for wants rather than needs, while human desires are unlimited. This study aims to review the impulse buying behavior and its factors, furthermore, how Islamic consumption norms can lead to resolve the behavior, particularly from Monzer Kahf perspective. The analytical method in this research is literature study by presenting related datas and theories arranged systematically. The results of this study indicate that impulse buying behavior is in contrast to the concept of Islamic consumption norms, as has been explained in detail by one of the 20th century Islamic economists, Monzer Kahf.
