Abstract

This study aims to determine the difficulties of authentic assessment experienced by biology teachers in public high schools in the city of Binjai. This research is descriptive with quantitative and qualitative analysis. The sample in this research is 18 biology teacher taken by using purposive sampling technique. Data collection techniques are by filling in questionnaires, interviews, documentation and direct observation. The results showed that some of the biology teachers of SMA Negeri in Binjai City experienced obstacles while carrying out authentic assessment. Constraints faced by biology teachers include difficulties in instrument making, difficulties in filling out the assessment format, difficulty in assessing students' attitudes objectively. There are several factors that cause teachers to experience constraints when carrying out authentic assessment that is the number of students who are not ideal, lack of understanding of authentic assessment procedures, training and socialization of authentic assessment has not been maximal, facilities and infrastructure of schools that are less supportive. The difficulty level faced by teachers in the implementation of authentic assessment is quite difficult with the value of 61.01.Keywords: teacher constraints, authentic assessment, biology learning.

Abstract

This research was aimed to determine the type of each difference in the model Numbered Head Together combined with Mind Map and without Mind Map against learning result on ecosystem in class X SMA RK Serdang Murni Lubuk Pakam of school year 2014/2015. This research was experimental through implemented different strategy. The population in this research was all students of class X consisting 4 classes, totaling 167 people. While the research sample was taken randomly sampling in class Xa was made as a class which use Mind Mapping with Numbered Head Together model and Xb as class use NHT, with each number of student’s in class are43 people. According to the data analysis of student learning outcomes seen a significant difference in learning outcomes for which the average student learning outcomes are taught using Numbered Head Together combined with Mind Mapping at 82,90 while the average learning outcomes of students who are taught use NHT at 77,44. The difference in student learning outcomes in both classroom study demonstrated through hypothesis testing using t-test with a confidence level, where tcount ttable (3,23 1,67), which means that in this study H0 is rejected at the same time so that it can accept Ha concluded that there are differences in learning outcomes of students who are taught using Numbered Head Together model combined with Mind Map and without Mind Map against learning result about ecosystem in class X SMA RK Serdang Murni Lubuk Pakam of school year 2014/2015.Keywords: learning outcomes, numbered head together, mind mapping

Abstract

Etnis Batak Toba mempunyai khas makanan adat yang berbeda dari etnis lain. Hasil inventarisasi jenismakanan khas adatnya antara lain: Makanan khas Batak Toba diantaranya jambar, sipitu dai (manganupa suhut), indahan sipaet-paet, itak gur-gur, nanidugu, naniura, nani arsik, nani lomang, dan ikan masnati nombur. Bahan utama makanan dari ikan mas, ikan nila, ayam atau daging, sedang rempah khasadalah bawang Batak, andaliman, kincung. Pengolahan makanan secara sederhana   dimasak denganapi dan tidak di masak, tetapi digunakan dengan berbagai rempah.  Rasa khas makanan dikonsumsimasyarakat Batak secara luas, terbukti sampai saat ini masih digunakan pada acara-acara suka danduka.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to analyze the amount of chrome in lichens live on living tree Mahoni (Swietenia macrophylla) at ambien air in Pinang Baris Bus Station Medan. Purposive sampling method was conducted. The analitical data used was corelations product moment. Results showed 5 species of lichens were identified. Each the species contain Cr and Ocrolechia tartarea was the highest. Ambien weather at the atmosphere consists of NO2 22.21 µg/m3, SO2 16.29 µg/m3, CO 11 ppm, H2S 0,00883 ppm and O3 76.01 µg/m3. Temperatur 32.34 °C, relative humidity 69 %, light instensity 500 Joule and wind speed 2,1 m/s. Corelations chrome lichens to the ambien air showed result 0,15 is very low. Corelation lichens value to the ambien air is -0,13. Showed negatif and it is not significan and very low.

Abstract

The objektive of research is to get the avchivement value of autodidactstudent in Plant Morfology lecture by using portofolio model evaluation.  Theresearch method of examing avct is teaching by speech, discussion and questionanswer provided by slide teaching media chart in class, laboratory and in the field. The activity  consists of cycle 1: Organum nutritivum); cycle 2: Organumreproduvctivum. Each cycle evaluation is provided by test (pretest – postest andpersonal task) in portofolio evaluation. The assesment of practice report based on thecompletion of observation data.  Mean while the active assesment based on thedeligen, accuratiose  corettness corettness and independence. The result of thisactifity is goined that petest and  postest score in cycle 1 and 2 toward the score A,B, C and the degreasing of student quantity whivch gets score D and E in each item. Mean while category the scoring of personal task of cycle 1 and 2 wholly is verygood and good category (score A and B) category is higher than enough and lesscategory (Score C and D), not good category (score E) is not found.  The teachingmodel by practice is more precice to do student can see directly their plant object. Meanwhile for the scoring task and paper writing student face probem in masteringliterature and terminology.  The active student scoring of civcle 1 & 2 seemed thatthe adventage in correctness of understanding item and determining observedobject.

Abstract

Tapanuli Selatan termasuk satu dari banyaknya provinsi di Indonesia yang seringkali dilanda banjir dan longsor sehingga masyarakat mengantisipasi bencana alam tersebut dengan mengupayakan pemberian bekal bencana siaga. Tujuan dari penelitian adalah untuk mengetahui penyebab dan solusi banjir serta tanah longsor, serta mengidentifikasi dampak banjir yang terjadi di tiga kecamatan Tapanuli Selatan yaitu kecamatan Angkola sangkunur, Muara Batangtoru, serta Angkola selatan. Studi pustaka yang digunakan dalam artikel ini bertujuan untuk mengumpulkan dan membandingkan data serta tinjauan yang berkaitan dengan judul. Hasil data didapatkan bahwa banjir dan tanah longsor diakibatkan oleh aliran sungai yang penuh dengan sampah, penebangan hutan secara sembarangan, dan hujan yang terus menerus. Solusi didapatkan dengan 3 cara yaitu melalui kearifan lokal dengan melakukan pelestarian hutan, lubuk, dan ikan larangan, menggunakan bioteknologi akar rumput Vetiver sp. dalam menahan erosi, dan melaksanakan kegiatan FGD untuk membuka wawasan para petani yang tidak memahami konservasi sumber daya alam

Abstract

This study aims to produce a non-textbook product about the development of a non-textbook based on research into the characterization of Salak Padangsidimpuan (Salacca Sumatrana Becc.). This study uses research and development (R&D) methods with the 4D Thiagarajan development model, which includes the stages of definition, design, development, and dissemination. The results of the study indicate that product validation by content experts obtained a score of 89.1%, categorized as "very feasible." Language experts gave a score of 81%, also categorized as "very feasible," while learning design experts assessed the product with a score of 92.3%, falling into the same category. Feedback from biology lecturers showed that the book is suitable for use, with an average score of 88.9%, classified as "very feasible." In user trials, individual trials resulted in a score of 81.9%, small group trials 82.6%, and limited group trials reached 82.2%, all in the "very feasible category”. In conclusion, the developed non-textbook is highly suitable for use as a reference in teaching spermatophyte taxonomy for biology students. Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of plant growth regulators and seed cutting patterns on the induction of mangosteen shoot growth. The research was conducted at the YAHDI Tissue Culture Laboratory in Medan, North Sumatra, Indonesia, in 20245. The method used in this study was a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with two factors: BAP concentration and seed cutting pattern. The data collected were analyzed using statistical analysis of variance (ANOVA) with Duncan's Multiple Range Test (DMRT) at a 5% significance level using SPSS 26. The results of the study show that the interaction between BAP concentration and seed cutting pattern significantly affected the time of shoot emergence, the number of leaves, and the shoot height. The best shoot emergence time was obtained with a BAP treatment of 4 mg/L using whole seed explants, which occurred at 1 MST (Month After Sowing). A BAP concentration of 2 mg/L with whole seed explants produced the highest number of leaves, with 8 leaves. The highest number of shoots was obtained from explants planted in a medium with 6 mg/L BAP, which resulted in 5.67 shoots. Whole seeds planted in a medium with 0 mg/L BAP produced the tallest plants, measuring 8.9 cm. The combination of BAP concentration and seed cutting pattern did not significantly affect the number of roots.

Abstract

In the 21st century, education demands students to master essential skills like problem-solving and creative thinking. However, some studies show that Indonesian students, especially in biotechnology, still struggle with these skills. This highlights the need for effective teaching materials, such as SSI-based modules to help students improve their skills. This study aimed to develop a feasible module-based SSI on biotechnology, improve problem-solving and creative thinking skills, and evaluate students' responses to the module-based SSI on biotechnology. The module was developed using the 4D model (Define, Design, Develop, and Disseminate). The sample for this study was 60 students in 11th Grade Science Class from MAN Pematangsiantar. The research findings were as follows: 1) The module feasibility categorized as “excellent” in both media design  and language, while model content categorized as “good” 2) The result of N-gain for problem-solving was 0.61 (medium) and creative thinking was 0.73 (high). 3) Students' responses to the module categorized as “excellent”. Based on these results, the module based-SSI on biotechnology is considered highly feasible and can be used as a learning material that enhances problem-solving and creative thinking skills.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the validity, practicality, and effectiveness of the biology learning module on Critical Thinkings, Creativity, Communication, and Collaboration (4C) skills, and students' biological literacy skills. This type of research is development research using the Analyze, Design, Develop, Implement, and Evaluate (ADDIE) model development. The subjects of this study were 30 students of class X of SMA Al Ulum Medan. The results of this study are the validity of the problem-based learning module in improving 4C skills and students' biological literacy skills are included in the valid category, so that the developed learning module has met the validity indicators. The practicality of the problem-based learning module in 4C skills and students' biological literacy skills is included in the practical category. The effectiveness of the 4C skills learning module and students' biological literacy skills based on the problem-based model meets the effectiveness criteria.
