Abstract

The FTTH network is currently a reliable network concept used in an era where very fast access to information is needed as it is today, but several problems arise in the FTTH network, for example, reduced data transmission speed due to losses in the transmission cable connection or drop core. In this study, activation of the FTTH network will be carried out so that it can function for internet data transmission and observations will also be made of the connection losses on the 10-meter dropcore cable with the number of connections respectively, namely no connection, 1 connection, and 2 connections, where each connection obtains connection losses from 0.00 to 0.02 dB which will affect the total attenuation obtained in the activated FTTH network. Standard attenuation for fiber optic network activation starting from OLT to ONT according to IEEE Std 802.3ah states that the permissible attenuation / loss tolerance is between 20-24 to 29 dB. Splicing losses are caused by errors in the process of joining the fiber optic cable cores. The number of connections in a fiber optic cable can affect the attenuation value in the fiber optic cable. The more connections, the higher the attenuation in the fiber optic cable.

Technology in the telecommunications sector continues to develop. One of them is the Multiple Input Multiple Output (MIMO) antenna used in WIFI access oint application using MIMO technique in enhancement the need to transfer large amounts of data. In the design and manufacture of MIMO antennas for WIFI access applications point with dimensions of 110 mm x 112 mm using FR-4 substrate specifications with a thickness of 1.6 mm. The antenna consists of four ports and is at each corner The groundplane has four slots to achieve good isolation and produces good bandwidth. The antenna simulation produces a bandwidth of 1.0516 GHz with frequency 2.4 GHz, return loss -12.78 dB, isolation -16.08 dB, and VSWR 1.53 dB. Meanwhile, manufactured antennas produce a bandwidth of more than 100 MHz with frequency 2.4 GHz, return loss -13.5 dB, isolation -18.8 dB, and VSWR 1.29 dB. Antenna simulation using the CST Studio Suite 2019 software application. In the application of the antenna used for Wi-Fi as a transmitter By comparing distances, different results are obtained where the power value is Each distance is different because the farther the distance, the greater the power value produced or emitted will be smaller or less optimalĀ  network.

Abstract

In this study, a comparison of the attenuation value of single mode aerial cable with pigtail is made. Perform several types of connections using a 4 cm and 6 cm protection sleeve, with one and two connections and use a barrel adapter connector. How does the connection affect the installation of a 1:2 passive splitter device. The measuring instruments used for the measurement process are Optical Power Meter (OPM) and Optical Time Domain Reflectometer (OTDR). The attenuation value of aerial single mode optical cable is smaller than that of pigtail cable. The measurement results using OPM at a wavelength of 1310 nm, connection using a 4 cm protection sleeve, one connection, the attenuation value is 0.18525dB, this value is smaller than the pigtail cable, which is 1.2728 dB. In the installation of a passive splitter, the attenuation value on the aerial cable is smaller, namely 0.2081 dB compared to the pigtail cable, which is 4.3281. The measurement results using the OTDR obtained the connection loss value for the connection type using a 6 cm protection sleeve, one connection is smaller with a value of 0.155 dB, compared to the connection type using an adapter barrel with a value of 12,216 dB.

Abstract

Optical fiber is a transmission medium that uses light as a signal conductor. In order for optical fibers to be used and the benefits are felt, a network architecture is needed, namely FTTH. FTTH consists of active devices such as OLT and ONT as well as passive devices consisting of ODC, Closure, and ODP. In this design, it uses OLS as a light signal transmitter and produces input power. However, over time and the increase in population capacity and the number of access services available, of course, there are more and more requests for the installation of optical networks in customers' homes. Therefore, the most available FTTH device is ODP in order to be able to withdraw cables to customers' homes and continue to expand FTTH. Therefore, this study will discuss the addition of new ODP with the branching method. Using OPM as a measuring tool and calculating the power link budget to find out that the resulting attenuation value is no more than 28dB.

Abstract

FTTH is a concept that uses fiber optic networks. In the FTTH optical network, one of the devices is an Optical Distribution Point (ODP). There are 2 methods for installing ODP, namely connecting the direct area cable and branching the main distribution cable or branching. In previous studies, branching was only done from ODC to ONT and Optical Light Source (OLS) as a substitute for OLT, so there is no internet network that customers can directly access using ONT. In this study, the author discusses how to activate FTTH devices from OLT to ONT customers, with a comparison before and after activation using a 1:4 passive splitter. Then the attenuation that can be produced is 28.54. Therefore network activation on ODP Branching is very efficient because the resulting attenuation does not exceed 28dB, which is in accordance with PT Telecommunications ITU-T G.948 standards.

Abstract

Television broadcasting has evolved from analog to digital technology, utilizing digital modulation and compression to efficiently transmit video, audio, and data signals. Antennas play a crucial role in this technology, with microstrip antennas being particularly notable for their compact size, ease of fabrication, and suitability for integration with other telecommunications equipment. The fabricated antenna measures 200 x 235 mm. By optimizing the Destructure Patch Element and Defected Ground Structure techniques, along with the addition of an Inset Feed, a wider bandwidth can be achieved, allowing for the reception of more digital television channels. At its working frequency, the fabricated antenna achieved a return loss of -36.8 dB, a bandwidth of 218.46 MHz, and a frequency range of 481.83 MHz to 700.29 MHz. The measured Voltage Standing Wave Ratio (VSWR) was 1.02, with a gain of 2.11 dBi at 538 MHz, 2.12 dBi at 546 MHz, 2.27 dBi at 626 MHz, and 2.3 dBi at 642 MHz. The radiation pattern was omnidirectional. Using a Vector Network Analyzer, the fabricated antenna was measured to have a return loss of -18.37 dB and a VSWR of 1.27. Additionally, digital TV broadcast testing was conducted, successfully receiving a strong and clear signal.

Abstract

Fiber to the Building (FTTB) provides a fast and efficient service. However, the network quality may be affected by high attenuation at the termination (ONU) due to coiling, macrobending, and the length of patch cords, impacting network stability. This study aims to measure and analyze the effect of coiling and macrobending on patch cord cables of different lengths, as well as their influence on attenuation and FTTB network performance. The method includes simulating patch cord cables with lengths of 3m, 5m, and 10m. The tested treatments include conditions without coil, with coil, macrobending without coil, and macrobending with coil applied to the final termination before and after activating the FTTB network. Before activation, the lowest attenuation was 19.78 dB in the 3m cable without coil and macrobending, while the highest attenuation was 21.93 dB in the 10m cable with 5 coils (6cm curvature) and macrobending (0.8cm diameter). After activation, the lowest attenuation was 19.74 dB in the 3m cable without coil and macrobending, while the highest attenuation was 23.92 dB in the 10m cable with 5 coils (6cm curvature) and macrobending (0.8cm diameter). The test results show that the attenuation is affected by the number of coils, macrobending, and cable length.Damping increases with an increase in coils, cable length, and macrobending.
