Abstract

Abstract: Political behavior reflects the participation of society in the processes of political decision-making and public policy. In Minangkabau society, traditional figures such as niniak mamak are considered to play a significant role in shaping political tendencies and orientations. This influence is both symbolic and practical, mobilizing political support and influencing electoral choices. This study aims to analyze the influence of the role of niniak mamak on the political behavior of the Minangkabau people. The research employs a qualitative approach through literature studies. The findings indicate that the political behavior of the Minangkabau community is highly collective and rooted in customary traditions, influenced by traditional leadership structures, particularly niniak mamak, who are regarded as informal elites. Abstract

This study addresses a fundamental issue in contemporary society: family communication. Specifically, it examines how parental communication patterns affect adolescents engaging in premarital sex, categorized as social welfare problem cases (PMKS) by the Social Services in three families in Padang City, specifically in the Olo Subdistrict of Padang Barat. Employing a qualitative research approach within a constructivist paradigm and employing ethnographic communication study methods, data on family communication dynamics and parental upbringing of adolescents involved in premarital sex in the Olo Subdistrict were gathered through observation and in-depth interviews. Purposive sampling was utilized to select informants. Findings reveal that parental communication with adolescents occurs through primary, secondary, and linear communication patterns, with obstacles such as semantic disturbances, conflicting interests, hidden motivations, and biases. Effective intra-family communication, characterized by openness, empathy, positive behavior, supportive attitudes, and equality, is essential for preventing social deviances like premarital sex and addressing other societal issues.

Abstract

This training activity aims to improve the verbal and nonverbal communication competencies of fishermen of Kasiak Angek Purus Group (KNKAP) to support the branding of Elo Pukek Thematic Village as a culture-based tourist destination. The implementation of activities was carried out systematically through an initial survey, communication theory training, role play simulation, and interactive evaluation. The results of the training showed a significant improvement in participants' communication skills. Fishermen who previously tended to be passive and lack confidence are now more active, confident, and able to deliver persuasive messages in a structured manner, including in explaining the Maelo Pukek tradition. The training was also fully supported by the local government, demonstrating a shared commitment to the development of local tourism potential. The direct impact of this activity is the improvement of fishermen's communication skills, while the indirect impact is the strengthening of the Elo Pukek Thematic Village branding which is starting to be recognized as a culture-based tourist destination. In addition, a more informative and interactive tourism experience is also able to attract more tourists, which in turn contributes to increasing the potential of the local economy. In conclusion, this training activity successfully achieved its main objectives and had a positive impact on the fishing community. For sustainability, regular monitoring and follow-up trainings are needed so that the results achieved can continue to be applied and improved in the future.

Abstract

Kota Tua Padang, as a city branding icon, has great potential as a historical and cultural tourism destination, but the government's efforts in branding this area are still not optimal. The Padang Heritage Community, through programs such as the Padang Heritage Walk, plays an important role in increasing tourist interest in the history and culture as well as the branding of Kota Tua Padang. This research aims to deeply understand how the Padang Heritage Community conducts city branding through the Padang Heritage Walk program and analyze the persuasive messages conveyed. This research uses a case study approach by collecting data through interviews, observation, and documentation, and analyzing the data qualitatively. The results show that Padang Heritage Community, through the Padang Heritage Walk program, has played an important role in the city branding process of Kota Tua Padang. They have succeeded in reviving this historical area through interactive and educational activities, as well as building a positive image of the area as a tourist destination rich in historical and cultural values. For the persuasive messages delivered by the Padang Heritage Community, they have successfully created a positive impact on the image of Kota Tua Padang as a historical and cultural tourist destination.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the Media Relations Public Relations Strategy of the National Population and Family Planning Board (BKKBN) of the NTT Province in Improving the Quality of Family Planning (KB) Services. The method used in this research is a type of qualitative research. It discusses in depth to better understand phenomena such as opinions, desires, feelings, and behavior of media relations regarding the strategies and media relations activities carried out by BKKBN. The scope of the research is in the Public Relations Section of the Office of the National Population and Family Planning Agency (BKKBN) of the Province of NTT which provides services to the community. Data collection techniques used in this study were interviews, observation and documentary studies. While the data analysis technique used is data analysis using descriptive qualitative analysis techniques. The results of the research conducted were the quality of service through the media relations strategy in the Public Relations of the BKKBN in the Province of NTT above. It can be concluded that the services through the strategy of media relations in the Public Relations of the BKKBN in the Province of NTT have gone well because: a) there is timeliness in providing information; b) provide information or news to the mass media in dealing with problems or issues that arise in society and the willingness to help customers and provide services quickly; c) generate trust and confidence, which is the ability of Public Relations in creating a sense of public trust in the NTT BKKBN including communication, credibility, security, competence and courtesy; d) provide information through the media or publications and conduct events for the community related to knowledge, specific community needs; and e) displaying physical facilities, equipment or technology and the appearance of employees at the NTT Coordinating and Family Planning Agency (BKKBN) Office
