Abstract

This study analyzes Toraja death customs using Roman Jakobson's theory of language functions. The study highlights how language functions (emotive, conative, referential, metalinguistic, phatic, and poetic) are applied in death rituals, which reflect the cultural and social values of the Toraja people. The research findings show that these death customs serve as complex communication tools, strengthen community identity, and connect the present with the past through symbolism and traditional practices.

Abstract

This article describes improving students' procedure text learning outcomes using Canva infographics. The research method used is descriptive quantitative. This research uses instruments like pre-test and post-test with 20 questions. The numerical data will be discussed in detail by describing the research variables. The research subjects were 25 seventh-grade junior high school students. This study obtained the following results: there was an increase in student learning outcomes in learning procedure text before and after using Canva infographics. Students completed the pretest with an overall average score of 66.5, increasing to 75.1 for the posttest average score. There was an increase in pre-test classical completeness from 44% to 80% compared to the post-test classical completeness score.

Abstract

In the digital era, technological literacy is an essential skill that needs to be mastered by students to face the challenges of the 21st century. This study analyzes how technological literacy can improve students' critical thinking skills in writing texts. The method used is classroom action research (PTK) involving 30 class XI MPLB 6 students at SMK Negeri 7 Medan. The learning process utilized various technology platforms, such as word-processing software, online collaborative tools, and interactive learning applications. The results showed that technological literacy significantly improved students' critical thinking skills, particularly in identifying arguments, analyzing text structure, and composing coherent and logical writing. In addition, students also became more independent in evaluating and revising their texts with the help of digital tools.

Abstract

In this era of digitalization, there have been major changes in education, especially with the integration of technology into the world of education. As an advanced stage of formal education, high school plays an important role in integrating technology into the teaching-learning process. Various studies show the great potential of technology to enrich student learning experiences, improve access to educational resources, and improve teaching efficiency. The study used the literature review method, combining the results of several related studies into a new topic. From the review, it was found that the use of technology in high schools involves a variety of digital infrastructures and programs, such as Zoom, Canva, digital education (E-Learnings), Google Classroom, Google Sites, Magic School, Kahoot, E-Ujian, video conference, electronic report (e-Rapot), and WhatsApp Application. The main advantage of technology is its ability to make teaching more exciting and interactive for learners. However, the challenge is the inequality of connectivity related to technology. Students who do not have electronic devices or internet connectivity risk being left behind, creating differences or imbalances in learning opportunities.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to create a digital comic based on the folklore "Putri Andam Dewi" and describe the results using Medibang. The creation method used involves stages described based on Richey and Klein's theory, namely planning, production, and evaluation. The research data consists of direct quotations from the folklore "Putri Andam Dewi", which is taken from the source, namely the folktale written by Bunga Rampai Cerita Folklore Tapteng. The result of this research is a digital comic titled "Putri Andam Dewi" in Germany, which consists of several pages. An evaluation of this digital comic shows that it gets an overall score of 90, signifying excellent quality.

Abstract

Artikel ini menganalisis peran adjektiva dalam tata bahasa Jerman serta membandingkannya dengan bahasa Indonesia. Adjektiva dalam bahasa Jerman memiliki karakteristik yang kompleks karena mengalami deklinasi yang dipengaruhi oleh kasus, jenis kelamin (genus), dan jumlah (numerus) dari nomina yang dimodifikasinya. Deklinasi ini menentukan bentuk adjektiva dalam suatu kalimat, sehingga menuntut pemahaman mendalam bagi penutur bahasa asing. Sebaliknya, dalam bahasa Indonesia, adjektiva bersifat statis dan tidak mengalami perubahan bentuk dalam berbagai konteks kalimat, menjadikannya lebih sederhana untuk digunakan. Artikel ini bertujuan untuk menjelaskan perbedaan struktural antara adjektiva dalam bahasa Jerman dan bahasa Indonesia, memberikan contoh konkret dari kedua sistem, serta membahas implikasi pembelajaran bagi penutur kedua bahasa. Dengan memahami kontrastasi ini, pembelajaran bahasa Jerman bagi penutur bahasa Indonesia dapat dioptimalkan dengan metode yang sesuai.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis validitas isi dan validitas konstruk dalam soal Ujian Akhir Semester (UAS) Bahasa Indonesia kelas VIII SMP Harapan 1 Medan. Validitas isi mengacu pada kesesuaian soal dengan kurikulum dan kompetensi dasar yang telah ditetapkan, sedangkan validitas konstruk berkaitan dengan sejauh mana soal mampu mengukur kemampuan yang diharapkan. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode analisis deskriptif kualitatif. Proses analisis validitas isi dan konstruksi dilakukan berdasarkan langkah-langkah berikut: (1) Analisis Validitas Isi: Membandingkan soal dengan indikator pembelajaran dalam kurikulum, Memeriksa kesesuaian materi dengan kompetensi dasar yang diharapkan. (2) Analisis Validitas Konstruksi: Mengevaluasi struktur dan kebahasaan soal agar sesuai dengan kaidah penulisan soal yang baik, Memastikan setiap soal memiliki rumusan yang jelas dan tidak ambigu, Menilai opsi jawaban dalam soal pilihan ganda agar tidak menyesatkan. (3) Evaluasi Taksonomi Bloom: Mengkategorikan soal berdasarkan tingkat kognitif (C1 sampai C6) untuk memastikan variasi tingkat kesulitan soal. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa sebagian besar soal memiliki validitas isi yang tinggi karena telah sesuai dengan indikator pembelajaran dan KD dalam kurikulum. Namun, beberapa soal masih perlu direvisi karena kurang representatif dalam mengukur kompetensi tertentu. Dari segi validitas konstruksi, ditemukan beberapa kekurangan dalam penggunaan bahasa, kejelasan penyajian, dan kesesuaian format soal, yang dapat memengaruhi pemahaman siswa dalam menjawab soal. Oleh karena itu, perbaikan terhadap soal yang belum memenuhi kriteria validitas isi dan konstruksi perlu dilakukan agar kualitas asesmen lebih optimal.

Abstract

Bullying remains a pressing issue in schools worldwide. To address this problem, we developed an innovative e-module that integrates storytelling, digital literacy, and interactive activities to prevent bullying among middle and high school students. This study evaluated the effectiveness of the e-module in fostering empathy, promoting digital citizenship, and equipping students with strategies to respond to bullying. Results indicated a significant increase in students' knowledge about bullying, their ability to identify different forms of bullying, and their confidence in reporting incidents. Additionally, the e-module was found to be highly engaging and enjoyable for students. These findings suggest that the e-module is a promising tool for schools seeking to create safer and more inclusive learning environments

Abstract

Dalam penelitian ini, teks “Umpasa” dari pernikahan Batak Toba diterjemahkan ke dalam bahasa Jerman. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian deskriptif kualitatif. Penelitian ini dilakukan di Wisma Marina Garden di Rambung Merah. Metode penelitian didasarkan pada teori Miles dan Huberman yang terdiri dari tiga langkah: (1) pengumpulan data, (2) reduksi data, (3) penyajian data, dan (4) kesimpulan. Proses penerjemahan dilakukan dua kali, yaitu dari bahasa Batak ke bahasa Indonesia dan ke bahasa Jerman. Proses penerjemahan dilakukan sesuai dengan teori Nida dan Taber dengan menggunakan metode penerjemahan menurut teori Newmark. Data dalam penelitian ini adalah kata-kata dan kalimat dari teks Umpasa. Sumber data dalam penelitian ini adalah para penutur yang memberikan umpasa dalam pernikahan Batak Toba (Hula-hula, Boru, Bere, dan lainnya), kemudian wawancara dengan Raja Parhata dan observasi pernikahan Batak Toba. Metode terjemahan Newmark yang sering digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah terjemahan literal, terjemahan setia, terjemahan semantik, dan terjemahan komunikatif. Keempat metode ini dipilih karena dapat menyeimbangkan antara keakuratan makna budaya dan kefasihan bahasa target.
