Abstract

This study aims to determine the influence of helicopter parenting on self-efficacy and psychological well-being in Madrasah Tsanawiyah students. This study uses a quantitative approach with a correlation design, and data obtained from 210 students through a likert scale questionnaire. The results of the study showed that there were clear differences based on gender. In male students, helicopter parenting does not have a significant effect on self-efficacy or psychological well-being. In contrast, in female students a significant influence was found, which showed that the higher the level of helicopter parenting, the lower their levels of self-efficacy and psychological well-being. These findings indicate that female students are more vulnerable to the psychological impact of overly controlling parenting, especially in the context of faith-based schools that tend to impose strict moral norms. Further research is suggested to explore cultural and emotional factors that may influence the relationship between parenting and adolescent psychological development.

Abstract

Global social and economic changes have contributed to the transformation of fatherhood roles in many developed countries, giving rise to the Modern Fatherhood phenomenon characterized by fathers’ active involvement in childcare and emotional bonding. This model contrasts sharply with the condition of fatherlessness in Indonesia, where children frequently experience the absence of fathers physically or emotionally due to patriarchal norms, rigid gender roles, and limited work–family support. This study employs an analytical–comparative literature review to examine Modern Fatherhood as a representation of contemporary father involvement and compare it with Indonesia’s fatherless reality. The findings indicate that father engagement plays a crucial role in children’s emotional security, social development, and overall well-being. However, Indonesian fathers often face structural and cultural barriers that restrict active participation in childcare. Therefore, family counseling practices in Indonesia must adopt a father-inclusive approach that strengthens both economic and emotional caregiving roles. Such an approach can support healthier family dynamics and reduce the long-term risks associated with fatherlessness.

Abstract

Guidance and Counseling (BK) management in schools plays a strategic role in student development, yet its implementation often faces obstacles in meeting the Operational Implementation Guidelines (POP) standards. This study aims to identify the discrepancy between the ideal POP BK standards and the actual implementation of individual counseling management at SMA Negeri 4 Surabaya. This study employed an evaluative approach using the Discrepancy Evaluation Model (DEM) to assess Planning, Organizing, Actuating, and Controlling (POAC) aspects. Data were collected via interviews, observations, and documentation to compare actual conditions with established standards. The results show that overall, individual counseling management complies with standards, but implementation is not yet comprehensive. Significant discrepancies were found in the counseling process, which lacked theoretical adherence, needs assessments limited to AKPD instruments, and outcome evaluation and follow-up restricted to monitoring without in-depth analysis. While service management is functional, strengthening counselors' professional competence and developing data-driven evaluation systems are necessary to optimize counseling effectiveness.
