Abstract

The problems identified in this study include the limited availability of practicum media and teacher-centered learning, which results in students being less active and having difficulty understanding programming concepts in an applied manner. These limitations are found in subjects that focus on analog systems, causing students of Grade XI Audio and Video Engineering at SMKN 1 Sidoarjo to struggle to understand Microcontroller Programming and Algorithms. This study aims to develop a module and Arduino trainer kit learning media based on Project-Based Learning to improve students’ learning outcomes in the Microcontroller Programming and Algorithms course. The research employed a Research and Development (R&D) method, along with the Shapiro-Wilk test, focusing on media development and comparison between two classes. The research instruments consisted of expert validation sheets, student response questionnaires, and learning outcome tests. The data were analyzed using quantitative descriptive techniques, normality testing, t-test, and N-Gain calculation. The results showed that the validation score of the teaching module was 94%, the student worksheet was 98%, and the questionnaire was 99%, indicating that the developed module is categorized as highly valid. The practicality level reached 81%, categorized as very practical. The effectiveness test results showed an improvement in students’ learning outcomes after the implementation of the Project-Based Learning module. Based on these findings, the developed learning module is feasible and effective in improving the learning outcomes of Grade XI TAV students. Abstract

A decline in student learning motivation persists, largely due to the use of outdated instructional media and teaching models that cause students to become easily bored with the material. To address this issue, the use of website-based instructional media using mind meister platform was proposed as a solution. This study implemented mind meister to assess the extent to which this tool could boost learning motivation in the "fundamentals of electronic engineering" subject. A quasi-experimental design was employed, utilizing observations, interviews, and questionnaires to gather data on student interest. The results demonstrated the practicality of the instructional media and a significant increase in learning motivation; an average score of 2.77 (or 69.19%) was achieved, placing it in the "practical" category. Furthermore, normality tests for learning motivation yielded Sig. (2-tailed) values of 0.062 and 0.111 (both > 0.05), satisfying the prerequisites for parametric statistical analysis. An independent samples t-test comparing the experimental and control groups resulted in a Sig. (2-tailed) value of 0.000 (< 0.05). Regarding effectiveness, a 4.38% difference was observed between the experimental group (using mind meister) and the control group (using PowerPoint), with the experimental group demonstrating superior levels of engagement and learning motivation. Ultimately, the use of modern instructional media helps mitigate the decline in student learning motivation.

Abstract

This study examined the effect of the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model assisted by Simurelay software on students' competence in the Electric Motor Installation course among eleventh-grade Electrical Power Installation Engineering students at SMK Negeri 1 Sidoarjo. A quasi-experimental method with a nonequivalent control group pretest-posttest design was used, involving 36 students in the experimental class (PBL assisted by Simurelay) and 37 students in the control class (direct instruction). Data were collected using a 25-item multiple-choice test for the knowledge aspect and an observation sheet for the skill aspect, then analyzed through normality, homogeneity, N-Gain, and independent sample t-test procedures. Both instruments were rated highly valid (100% expert validation) and reliable (Cronbach's alpha of 0.834 for knowledge and 0.827 for skill). The experimental class obtained a higher mean N-Gain (0.713, high category) than the control class (0.686, moderate category). The independent sample t-test showed significant effects for both the knowledge aspect (Sig. = 0.005) and the skill aspect (Sig. = 0.040), both below 0.05. It is concluded that the PBL model assisted by Simurelay software significantly improves students' competence in Electric Motor Installation compared with direct instruction.

Abstract

This study aims to develop a multi-sensor training kit integrated with the Smart Relay Zelio SR2B201FU. The primary objective of this development is to enhance students' technical creativity in dealing with complex intelligent control systems. Through this training kit, students are expected to have a practical platform to explore the integration of various types of sensors into industrial automation systems. The research method employed is Research and Development (R&D). The development process includes the hardware design phase, the preparation of accompanying jobsheets, and supporting instruments such as response questionnaires and observation sheets. Product feasibility was tested through media and material expert validation, while practicality and effectiveness were tested directly on students by comparing learning outcomes before and after using the kit. The results indicate that the training kit is highly feasible, with media expert validation scoring 78% and jobsheet material scoring 76%. The practicality score from students reached 84% (Very Practical). In terms of effectiveness, statistical tests showed a significant difference with a value of 0.000 and an average N-gain of 0.55 (moderate category). These findings prove that the integration of motion, light, sound, and mechanical sensors in this learning media successfully enhances students' ability to explore technical solutions creatively.

Abstract

The utilization of information technology in vocational education still faces persistent challenges, namely the dominance of lecture methods and conventional presentation media that inadequately support students' understanding of abstract technical installation materials, particularly in the Electrical Power Installation element at SMK Negeri 7 Surabaya. This study aimed to develop an interactive learning medium based on Google Sites and to examine its validity, practicality, and effectiveness on student learning outcomes. The study employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach using the ADDIE model (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, Evaluation), involving 37 eleventh-grade students majoring in Electrical Power Installation Engineering as the trial subjects. Data were collected through media and material expert validation sheets, student response questionnaires, and learning outcome tests (pre-test and post-test), then analyzed using Aiken's V index, practicality percentage, and the N-gain test. The results showed media and material validity scores of 0.85 and 0.87 respectively (average 0.86, high category), a practicality level of 89.92% (very practical category), and an improvement in learning outcomes from an average pre-test score of 62 to 88.19 in the post-test, with an N-gain score of 0.7488 (74.88%, high category). The Google Sites-based learning medium was proven valid, practical, and effective for use in electrical power installation instruction at the vocational school level.

Abstract

Vocational electrical education demands strong practical competence, yet many students merely imitate peers' work instead of reasoning through problems independently, leaving critical thinking underdeveloped. This study examined the effect of practical learning experience and critical thinking ability on students' knowledge and skill learning outcomes in the Electrical Lighting Installation subject taught through Project Based Learning. A quantitative ex-post facto design was applied to 74 twelfth-grade Electrical Power Installation students selected through purposive sampling. Partial tests (t-test) showed that practical learning experience significantly affected knowledge outcomes (t = 2.625; Sig = 0.011; contribution 18.6%) and skill outcomes (t = 3.185; Sig = 0.002; contribution 16.5%). Critical thinking ability significantly affected knowledge outcomes (t = 3.138; Sig = 0.002; contribution 17.9%) and skill outcomes (t = 2.716; Sig = 0.008; contribution 13.4%). Simultaneously, both variables significantly predicted knowledge outcomes (F = 4.979; Sig = 0.009) and skill outcomes (F = 5.100; Sig = 0.009). These findings confirm that strengthening practical experience and critical thinking together contributes to improved learning outcomes in project-based vocational electrical education.

Abstract

Perkembangan teknologi pada era Revolusi Industri 4.0 mendorong Sekolah Menengah Kejuruan (SMK) untuk menghasilkan lulusan yang memiliki kompetensi sesuai dengan kebutuhan dunia industri, khususnya pada bidang sistem kendali, robotika, dan Internet of Things (IoT). Namun, keterbatasan media pembelajaran praktik menyebabkan peserta didik masih mengalami kesulitan dalam memahami konsep dan penerapan teknologi tersebut secara optimal. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengembangkan trainer kit lengan robotik kendali Internet of Things (IoT) sebagai media pembelajaran Teknik Elektronika Industri kelas XI SMK Negeri 2 Surabaya, serta mengetahui tingkat kevalidan, kepraktisan, dan keefektifannya. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode Research and Development (R&D) dengan model pengembangan ADDIE yang meliputi tahap Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, dan Evaluation. Pengumpulan data dilakukan menggunakan lembar validasi ahli materi dan ahli media, angket respons peserta didik, serta tes hasil belajar melalui pre-test dan post-test. Analisis keefektifan media dilakukan menggunakan N-Gain Score. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa trainer kit yang dikembangkan memperoleh tingkat kevalidan sebesar 100% berdasarkan penilaian ahli materi dan 98,7% berdasarkan penilaian ahli media dengan kategori sangat valid. Tingkat kepraktisan memperoleh persentase sebesar 88,6% dengan kategori sangat praktis, sedangkan hasil analisis N-Gain Score sebesar 0,7096 termasuk dalam kategori tinggi, sehingga menunjukkan bahwa media yang dikembangkan efektif dalam meningkatkan hasil belajar peserta didik. Dengan demikian, trainer kit lengan robotik kendali Internet of Things (IoT) dinyatakan valid, praktis, dan efektif sehingga layak digunakan sebagai media pembelajaran pada mata pelajaran Teknik Elektronika Industri kelas XI SMK Negeri 2 Surabaya. Abstract

Media pembelajaran praktikum berbasis Internet of Things (IoT) pada mata pelajaran Pemrograman dan Aplikasi Mikrokontroler di SMK masih terbatas sehingga peserta didik belum memperoleh pengalaman belajar yang sesuai dengan perkembangan teknologi industri. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengembangkan Training Kit IoT Pendeteksi Kebakaran berbasis ESP32 menggunakan sensor MQ-2, Flame, dan DHT11 serta menguji validitas, kepraktisan, dan keefektifannya sebagai media pembelajaran. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode Research and Development (R&D) dengan model pengembangan ADDIE yang meliputi tahap Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, dan Evaluation. Subjek penelitian berjumlah 34 peserta didik kelas XI Teknik Audio Video SMK Negeri 3 Surabaya. Data dikumpulkan menggunakan lembar validasi ahli, angket respons peserta didik, tes hasil belajar, lembar observasi afektif, dan lembar penilaian psikomotorik, kemudian dianalisis menggunakan persentase, Paired Sample t-Test, dan N-Gain. Hasil uji validitas menunjukkan bahwa Training Kit memperoleh tingkat validitas keseluruhan sebesar 94,21% dengan kategori sangat layak, yang terdiri atas validasi materi sebesar 92,22%, validasi media 94,67%, validasi angket respons 94,81%, validasi pretest dan posttest 93,33%, validasi lembar observasi afektif 95,56%, serta validasi lembar penilaian psikomotorik 96,67%. Hasil uji kepraktisan menunjukkan persentase 77,55% dengan kategori praktis. Hasil uji efektivitas menunjukkan adanya peningkatan hasil belajar yang signifikan berdasarkan uji Paired Sample t-Test dengan nilai signifikansi 0,000 (p < 0,05), didukung nilai N-Gain sebesar 0,4002 yang termasuk kategori sedang, serta hasil belajar ranah afektif dan psikomotorik yang berada pada kategori sangat baik. Dengan demikian, Training Kit IoT Pendeteksi Kebakaran berbasis ESP32 dinyatakan valid, praktis, dan efektif digunakan sebagai media pembelajaran pada mata pelajaran Pemrograman dan Aplikasi Mikrokontroler.

Abstract

Perkembangan teknologi Internet of Things (IoT), sistem otomasi, dan kecerdasan buatan mendorong perlunya media pembelajaran yang mampu memberikan pengalaman praktik secara nyata kepada mahasiswa. Namun, media pembelajaran yang mengintegrasikan perangkat keras, platform otomasi, dan kecerdasan buatan masih terbatas sehingga proses pembelajaran cenderung bersifat teoritis. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengembangkan Training Kit Smart Automation berbasis Home Assistant sebagai media pembelajaran untuk meningkatkan kompetensi mahasiswa Teknik Elektro Universitas Negeri Surabaya. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode Research and Development (R&D) dengan model ADDIE yang meliputi tahap analisis, perancangan, pengembangan, implementasi, dan evaluasi. Produk yang dikembangkan terdiri atas training kit, jobsheet, serta sistem otomasi berbasis Home Assistant yang terintegrasi dengan mikrokontroler ESP32, berbagai sensor dan aktuator, serta teknologi kecerdasan buatan berbasis asisten suara untuk mendukung interaksi pengguna dengan sistem. Kelayakan produk dievaluasi berdasarkan aspek validitas, kepraktisan, dan keefektifan. Validitas diperoleh melalui penilaian ahli materi dan ahli media, kepraktisan diperoleh dari respons mahasiswa, sedangkan keefektifan diukur melalui pelaksanaan pretest dan posttest. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Training Kit Smart Automation yang dikembangkan memenuhi kriteria valid, praktis, dan efektif sebagai media pembelajaran. Penggunaan training kit mampu meningkatkan kompetensi mahasiswa dalam memahami dan mengimplementasikan konsep otomasi berbasis Home Assistant dan kecerdasan buatan. Dengan demikian, Training Kit Smart Automation berbasis Home Assistant layak digunakan sebagai media pembelajaran praktikum pada mata kuliah yang berkaitan dengan otomasi dan Internet of Things.

Abstract

Pembelajaran pada mata pelajaran Dasar-Dasar Teknik Elektronika di SMKN 3 Surabaya masih menghadapi kendala dalam meningkatkan hasil belajar peserta didik, khususnya pada materi yang memerlukan kemampuan memahami representasi visual rangkaian elektronika. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kelayakan Learning Management System (LMS) berbasis visual spasial, mengetahui respons peserta didik terhadap penggunaannya, menganalisis peningkatan hasil belajar setelah implementasi LMS, serta mengkaji pengaruh kreativitas terhadap hasil belajar peserta didik. Penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kuantitatif dengan metode Research and Development (R&D) melalui model Waterfall yang meliputi tahap analisis kebutuhan, perancangan, implementasi, pengujian, penyebaran, dan pemeliharaan. Subjek penelitian terdiri atas 55 peserta didik kelas X Teknik Audio Video SMKN 3 Surabaya. Pengumpulan data dilakukan menggunakan lembar validasi ahli materi, ahli media, validasi instrumen, angket respons peserta didik, angket kreativitas, serta tes pretest dan posttest. Analisis data dilakukan menggunakan statistik deskriptif, uji normalitas Kolmogorov–Smirnov, uji Wilcoxon Signed-Rank Test, uji N-Gain, uji linearitas, dan analisis regresi nonlinier. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa LMS berbasis visual spasial memperoleh kategori sangat valid berdasarkan penilaian ahli. Respons peserta didik terhadap penggunaan LMS memperoleh persentase sebesar 74,4% dengan kategori setuju. Hasil uji Wilcoxon menunjukkan adanya perbedaan yang signifikan antara nilai pretest dan posttest (p < 0,001), sedangkan nilai rata-rata N-Gain sebesar 13,45% berada pada kategori rendah. Analisis regresi nonlinier menunjukkan bahwa kreativitas memberikan kontribusi yang relatif kecil terhadap hasil belajar. Dengan demikian, LMS berbasis visual spasial dinyatakan layak digunakan sebagai media pembelajaran dan mampu meningkatkan hasil belajar peserta didik meskipun peningkatannya masih berada pada kategori rendah.
