Abstract

Purpose: This study aims to analyze tourists' perspectives regarding the sustainability of four tourism destinations, namely Sedudo Waterfall, Roro Kuning, TRAL, and Margo Tresno Cave in Nganjuk East Java, Indonesia. Moreover, this study attempts to reveal tourists' sustainability awareness based on the triplebottom-line concept and which dimensions are considered the most important for tourists. Research Methodology:  Data were obtained from a survey of visitors (16 years old and over) to the four tourist objects in Nganjuk. Furthermore, this study utilized Principal Component Analysis (PCA) and ANOVA tests to evaluate the differences between types of tourists and their views on sustainability. Results: The number of types of tourists found in the Nganjuk tourist destination was change, amusement, rupture, interest, and dedication. The ANOVA test results show a different tourist perception of sustainability issues from the five types of tourists in Nganjuk. Limitations: This study involved only young respondents who did not consider tourists beyond a young age. In addition, this study focused only on one regency in Indonesia. Contributions: To create a tourism industry that can last and protect the environment, the vital role of tourists cannot be ignored. This research makes a theoretical contribution by expanding the theory to explain aspects that have never been studied before regarding tourists' understanding of the sustainability issue in the tourism sector. Novelty: This study is one of the first to discuss tourists' perceptions of sustainability issues in the Indonesian context.

Abstract

The accelerating environmental crisis, marked by record-high greenhouse gas emissions and persistent ecological degradation, demands transformative action across sectors. Education, particularly in accounting, holds a strategic role in bridging economic practices with ecological responsibility. This conceptual paper presents perspective of the integration of green accounting education and digital innovation as a pathway to support the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). It highlights the role of Accounting Education students as future educators and change agents who can cultivate sustainability values through interactive e-modules and short educational videos. By embedding green accounting into curricula and leveraging digital tools, students are positioned to enhance environmental awareness, critical thinking, and pro-environmental behavior. The study underscores that awareness must be followed by concrete action, where every step from creating educational content to practicing environmentally responsible accounting contributes to a collective transformation toward a sustainable future.

Abstract

about their actions’ environmental and social impact, Education teaches students to think critically and responsibly towards the surrounding environment. Therefore, as the spearhead of education, teachers must be aware of sustainability education, so that they can teach it to their students Hence. This research explores the knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors towards sustainable awareness, especially in accounting teachers, and analyzes the interdimensional relationship to sustainable awareness.  This research uses a quantitative approach with a survey type of research. The data source for this study is 277 Vocational High School accounting teachers from the program of the institution's accounting and finance expertise, consisting of 239 females, and 38 males. They all participated in Teacher Professional Education at Universitas Sebelas Maret  Surakarta in 2023. The instrument used in this study is the Sustainability Consciousness Questionnaire (SCQ), developed by Gericke et al. in 2019. As a result of this study, teachers have knowledge about sustainable awareness that is followed up with sustainable attitudes and behaviors even though they are not optimal. This result can be seen from the high average score on knowledge of sustainable awareness, not followed by a high score on sustainable attitudes and behaviors. The study results show that each component's scores are 3.44, 3.17, and 3.13. This means that knowledge of sustainable awareness is not balanced with sustainable attitudes and behaviors.
