Abstract

This study aimed to determine teachers’ perception toward teaching media in English language learning in the form of educational video using Project-Based Learning elementary school students. This research used case studies as the research method by using qualitative as the research design. Elementary school teachers in Buleleng regency were the object of this research. The content of the video was designed by using Project-based learning as the steps in delivering the material. The data were collected from interviews and a checklist. The analysis result of the research was most teachers preferred to use video as the learning media. The use of the video perceived positive perception by the teacher since video brings effective learning during the pandemic.

Abstract

Online learning is something new for teachers and students, so there are various obstacles to it. This study aims to: analyze the preparation of EFL teachers in preparing lesson plans and identify and describe teacher difficulties in preparing lesson plans for EFL students. This study uses a qualitative descriptive research design. Data on teacher preparation and difficulties faced by teachers in preparing lesson plans were taken using a questionnaire by determining five aspects, namely: 1) learning objectives, 2) learning materials, 3) learning activities, 4) media and learning resources and, 5) learning assessment. The study results are that the teacher fulfills all the steps in compiling a one-page lesson plan, which fulfills the steps provided by the instrument. Regarding the problems faced in the process of preparing lesson plans by teachers, it can be synthesized that there are six difficulties encountered by teachers, such as 1) stating learning objectives that contain behavior (B), 2) connecting learning objectives to core competencies, 3) compiling learning materials based on indicators. Learning, 4) selection of learning media based on learning objectives, 5) selection of learning media based on learning materials, and 6) selection of assessment based on learning objectives.

Abstract

The 21st-century learning outcomes are essential to be achieved by the students nowadays. A lesson plan is one of the mediums used to insert the skills of the 21st century, which needed to be improved by the students. This study examined English teachers’ readiness in inserting the 21st-century skills in planning the lesson in the city area and suburb area of Badung Regency. This study belonged to a case study and was conducted using a sequential embedded mixed-method, in which mixed the quantitative results with qualitative results to get more valid data. A questionnaire consisted of 17 items used to know the readiness of English teachers, combined with the results on document analysis. Based on the results of the investigation, it showed inconsistent answers of English teachers in the city area and suburb area based on the results on questionnaire and document analysis. English teachers perceived they were ready to insert the 21st-century skills but, based on results on document analysis, it showed English teachers mostly added learning and innovation skills and information, media, and technology skills in the lesson plan. It is suggested English teachers should be more ready by looking up at the standardization of the 21st-century education then combined it with attending seminars on related topics about the implementation of the 21st-century skills.

Abstract

This community services program aims tofacilitate tourism awareness groups (Pokdarwis) in improving English language skills and the ability to guide tours in Panji Village and increase the tourist attraction in Panji Village by helping the tourism awareness group in making tour packages in the form of brochures. In the current pandemic conditions, tourism in Bali is experiencing a decline in the level of visits due to social restrictions imposed by the Government. Therefore, in order to revive the enthusiasm of tour guides, especially in Panji Village, this training is expected to be able to improve the quality of human resources to be better in preparing for the new normal era. The participatory approach method was used where the participants will later be actively involved in this service activity. This program was implemented succesfully, the participants were very cooperative and active in delivering the material.The results of this program had a positive impact on the participants. It is hoped that in the next, this program can continue to be implemented to monitor the development of English language skills of the participants. Abstract

Learning planning requires the preparation and selection of learning objectives, learning media and resources, learning activities, and assessment instruments. The preparation of lesson plans for online learning through the use of google classroom is a new thing for teachers because teachers do not have experience in preparing online learning lesson plans. The purpose of this study was to analyze the preparation of lesson plans through google classroom based on a scientific approach to the K-13 curriculum. This study uses a qualitative research design, with the device used as an instrument covering aspects that include learning objectives, learning materials, learning activities, media, and learning resources, and learning benefits. The research subject in this study was an English teacher. The results of the study found that the RPP developed by teacher-developed well because the RPP also fulfilled 5 aspects of a complete RPP. Based on the results of the study, it can be said that the RPP developed can be applied in online learning, it has completed the 2013 Curriculum RPP material, and uses Google Classroom as an appropriate platform for online learning.

Abstract

Implementing an effective teaching and learning process with the integration of online learning platforms is important for teachers, to maximize the online learning process. The purpose of this study is to analyze the obstacles in compiling the integrated lesson plans for google classroom. This study uses a qualitative design as a research design. The research subject in this study was an English teacher. The instrument used in this is a questionnaire containing aspects such as learning, learning materials, learning activities, media and learning resources, and learning objectives. The results show that there are several dominant obstacles, including online learning media as an intermediary for students in collecting results, online learning media that are only used to collect assignments, teachers have difficulty assessing student work from these activities, online learning platforms that are only used for conveying the material, type and technique of the assessment cannot be assessed from the activity. Based on the results of the study, it can be said that teachers experience several dominant obstacles in preparing lesson plans so that they need to be resolved by teachers through mastering five aspects of lesson plan so that they can be adapted to dynamic teaching and learning situations.

Abstract

One of the essential things in English besides writing, speaking, listening, and reading and skills is vocabulary. Vocabulary was one of the essential things that must be mastered in order to be able to master the other four essential skills. The use of project-based learning-based learning videos can be a solution in improving students' vocabulary skills. The study aimed to determine the video used as a learning media in boosting students’ vocabulary skills in the pandemic era. The current research utilized a quasi-experimental design. The group which given the pre-test and post-test scenarios were treated as a control group. The group got two different treatments at once. The subject was primary school students in fifth grade. To collect the data, the instruments used included video, pre-test, and post-test. All data obtained were calculated using the SPSS 20 version. Data statistics revealed that the mean score was improved from the pre-test (63.23) to the post-test (84.52). After the normality and homogeneity test, the data obtained were categorized as standard and homogeny. In addition, according to the data analysis, the null hypothesis was rejected, which means that the use of educational learning video was very effective for boosting and improving students’ vocabulary skills.

Abstract

Speaking is one of four skills which quite difficult to teach in the pandemic era. The implementation of a learning video in speaking class become one solution that can used to make teacher easier to tech speaking to students. The study aimed to determine the video used as a learning media in boosting students’ speaking skills in the pandemic era. Abstract

Covid-19 pandemic is a situation that has impacted people’s life and all sectors especially Education. This pandemic situation forced the restrictions to do online learning in the teaching activities, including English learning. It raises pro contra between the implementation of online learning. The study aimed at analyzing the students’ and parents’ perception on English learning via online during pandemic situation. The study employed quantitative approach with survey design. The instrument was questionnaire. The sample involves 102 eighth graders and 101 parents. The results showed that students had a positive perception toward online learning in general, but parents had the negative perception toward online learning in general. It could be proved by the result of statistics analysis that revealed 63.7% students give positive response with a positive category while 61.4% of parents give negative response which categorized as negative perception based on table qualification. Therefore, it is suggested for the government to use this result as a reference to evaluate the online learning specifically for teaching and learning English for junior high school students.

Abstract

Pengajaran menulis masih menjadi hal yang sulit bagi guru bahasa Inggris karena menulis memerlukan proses yang kompleks khususnya dalam situasi pandemi ini, guru harus menggunakan teknik yang menarik untuk meningkatkan minat siswa. Penelitian ini difokuskan untuk menyelidiki pengaruh video pembelajaran berbasis masalah terhadap keterampilan menulis siswa di masa pandemi. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas IV SDN 1 Banjar Bali sedangkan sampel penelitian berjumlah 31 siswa kelas IV yang diambil secara purposive. Desain penelitian menggunakan jenis penelitian kuantitatif dengan menggunakan one group pretest-posttest design. Instrumen terdiri dari instrumen perawatan, tes menulis dan rubrik menulis. Pengumpulan data dikumpulkan dan dianalisis melalui statistik deskriptif dan inferensial. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa rata-rata pretes kelompok sedang sedangkan rata-rata postes. Uji sampel berpasangan juga menemukan bahwa Sig. nilai Sig. (2-tailed) yaitu .000 lebih rendah dari Sig. level 0,05. Sehingga dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh yang signifikan penggunaan video pembelajaran berbasis masalah sebagai media pembelajaran terhadap keterampilan menulis siswa.
