Abstract

Corrosion is a phenomenon of damage to metal that can be influenced by several factors, including environmental factors, namely pH, humidity, temperature, and impurity factors. Corrosion that occurs due to the flow of a fluid is known as erosion corrosion. One type of metal that is susceptible to corrosion is carbon steel. Carbon steel material is very commonly used in the industrial world. An application of carbon steel is in piping systems that transport fluids; thus, fluid flow velocity affects the corrosion resistance of carbon steel. This research aimed to determine the effect of seawater flow on the corrosion rate of low carbon steel (ST 37) with variations in seawater velocity. This research is a type of laboratory-scale experimental research using coupon rack corrosion test equipment. The variations in seawater velocity used are 0 L/min, 15 L/min, 20 L/min, and 25 L/min. Observations of each experiment were carried out every 6 and 12 hours. The corrosion rate was analyzed using the weight loss method, namely by calculating the initial and final weight of the specimen before and after the experiment. The results show that increasing seawater flow velocity also increases the corrosion rate on steel specimens, with the lowest corrosion rate at 10.262 mpy on specimens with a variation of 0 L/min, while the highest corrosion rate is 48.743 mpy on specimens with a variation of 25 L/min. It can be concluded that the velocity of the fluid flow and the type of particles contained in the flow affect the rate of erosion-corrosion. The higher the fluid flow velocity and the more abrasive the particles contained in the flow, the faster the rate of erosion-corrosion.

Abstract

A jig is a tool or device used to guide or hold an object in the manufacturing or assembly process. Usually, jigs are used to ensure precision and consistency in various types of work, such as drilling, cutting, milling, and assembly. The initial step in making a jig is usually done by creating a design. Design is a creative process that involves planning, arranging, and creating visual or functional elements to achieve certain goals. In a broader context, design is not only limited to the visual arts aspect, but also includes product design, architecture, user experience (UX), as well as communication and graphic design. Tjiwi Kimia Paper Factory, Tbk. PT. Tjiwi Kimia Paper Factory, Tbk. is a paper manufacturing industrial company. PT. Tjiwi Kimia Paper Factory, Tbk has succeeded in becoming the largest paper producing company in Indonesia, even in Asia, with the main product being paper, either in the form of sheet, roll, or has been converted into various kinds of stationery, as well as other products in the form of chemicals, such as NaOH, CaC03, HCl solutions, and others.

Abstract

Pass Nanas MSME is a pineapple processing business unit in Kediri Regency that produces pineapple juice beverages. However, it faces challenges in managing production waste, particularly pineapple peels, which have only been used as animal feed. This issue affects business sustainability but also presents an opportunity to create added value through product innovation. This community service program aimed to support product diversification by utilizing pineapple peel waste into nata de pina with the help of a heavy duty blender. The program was carried out through field observation, needs analysis, training in nata de pina production, technical assistance in machine operation, and evaluation. The results showed that pineapple peel can be processed into nata de pina of good quality, with potential to be marketed as a functional food product. This innovation not only reduces organic waste but also expands product variety, thereby improving the competitiveness of the MSME in local and regional markets. Moreover, the program enhanced the partner’s skills in waste utilization, introduced the concept of a circular economy, and strengthened the business sustainability of Pass Nanas MSME.
