Abstract

This research was aimed to evaluate the effect of  level of Rhyzopus oligosporus and fermentation time on  crude protein and tannin   of  tamarind seed. This experiment was conducted in 2 treatment factors with 2 replication. The first factor was various level of  Rhyzopus oligosporus e.i. 1,2,3 kg/kg, and the second factor was time of fermentation e.i. 1,2,3, days. The results showed that there was no significantly effects among treatments on crude protein, but significant effect (P<0.05) on tannin by level of Rhyzopus oligosporus treatment, and time of fermentation, even those there was no interaction between each treatment. Tannin content decreased in line with increasing level of Rhyzopus oligosporus and time of fermentation. In conclusion, the best treatment was 3 g/kg  level of Rhyzopus oligosporus   with 3 days fermentation length.Key words:     Rhyzopus oligosphorus, Fermentation time, tamarind seed, crude protein, Tannin

Abstract

Use of Wafer Legume as Goats Feeds Alternative in Semi Arid Area. The experiment was conducted at Goats house Laboratory of Production and Reproduction, Kupang State Agriculture Polytechnic, from Mei to July 2006. This research aimed to know the advantage of wafer legume used for goat’s feed, especially feed intake, digestion, body weigh gain, rumen concentration of NH3 and VFA. The experiment used completely randomized design. Nine goats were randomly divided into 3 groups to receive three treatments. The treatments were R0 (kume grass hay), R1( R0 + wafer -1 of 1,5% body weight gain, R2 ( R0 + wafer-2 of 1,5% body weight gain. Parameters measured were nutrient intake, nutrient digestion, body weight gain, rumen concentration of NH3 and VFA. The data was analysed by using Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) and Duncan Multiple Range Test (DMRT). The result indicated that wafer legume did not significantly affected to organic matter intake and body weight gain, while the significant effect was found in digestion, rumen concentration of NH3 and VFA. It Could be concluded that wafer legume improve digestion, rumen concentration of NH3 and VFA of goats. Keywords: Wafer, Legume, Goats, Body weight gain

Abstract

Tujuan dari kegiatan pengabdian pada masyarakat ini  agar peternak dapat memanfaatkan limbah yang dihasilkan dari usaha peternak menjadi bahan yang memberikan manfaat bagi peternak  dan untuk mengurangi pencemaran yang dihasilkan dari usaha peternak. Metode yang digunakan dalam kegiatan ini adalah penyuluhan, pelatihan, demplot,monitoring dan evaluasi. Dalam IbM selain dilakukan proses pengolahan limbah peternak juga diberi pengetahuan tentang pemeliharaan ternak bibit, penanganan kelahiran, perkandangan yang sesuai untuk pembibitan serta ini dilakukan beberapa kegiatan seperti perbaikan kandang, pengadaan bibit ternak, penyuluhan, pembuatan pakan, perkawinan ternak, penanganan kelahiran ternak, penjualan anak babi.

Abstract

Program Kemitraan Masyarakat yang dilakukan pada Kelompok Tani Sehati di Desa Tuatuka Kabupaten Kupang merupakan Program Pengabdian Masyarakat yang bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan anggota mitra kelompok tani tentang model kemitraan proporsional dan manajemen penggemukan ternak babi dalam upaya meningkat produktifitas ternak babi. Kelompok tani Sehati menjadi mitra atas permintaan kelompok tani tersebut dan dengan mempertimbangkan bahwa usaha penggemukan ternak babi merupakan rutinitas yang dijalankan dalam keseharian mereka. Kegiatan beternak babi anggota kelompok tani tersebut selama ini masih bersifat tradisional dan penggunaan bibit dalam jumlah dan kualitas yang rendah, dengan menggunakan pakan limbah rumah tangga, modal yang terbatas, serta penjualan yang tidak menentu. Kondisi tersebut berdampak pada semangat beternak mereka yang pada akhirnya mempengaruhi keuntungan mereka dari ternak babi. Metode pelaksanaan kegiatan dilakukan melalui penyuluhan, diskusi, demonstrasi plot, pendampingan, serta monitoring dan evaluasi. Implementasi kegiatan dilakukan melalui diseminasi informasi model kemitraan proporsional, manajemen kesehatan, dan tata laksana penggemukan (kandang dan pakan). Hasil yang dicapai dari kegiatan adalah peningkatan pengetahuan, kesadaran, dan keterampilan anggota mitra dalam menerapkan model kemitraan proporsional serta manajemen penggemukan ternak babi dalam usaha meningkatkan produktifitas ternak babi. Luaran yang dihasilkan, sexlviv.com/en/ antara lain: bibit babi penggemukan sebanyak 10 ekor, dokumen Nota Kesepahaman atau Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) kemitraan selama 3 tahun pelaksanaan, dan ternak babi penggemukan layak jual pada masa pemeliharaan 5 bulan serta bobot akhir 85 – 100 kg/ekor. Kemitraan proporsional yang dilakukan berdampak terhadap peningkatan aktivitas usaha penggemukan ternak babi dan pendapatan anggota mitra Kelompok Tani Sehati.

Abstract

Tujuan dari kegiatan IbM  adalah meningkatkan pendapatan kelompok melalui usaha pembibitan ternak babi. Metode yang digunakan dalam kegiatan ini adalah penyuluhan, pelatihan, demplot,monitorinh dan evaluasi. Dalam IbM ini dilakukan beberapa kegiatan seperti perbaikan kandang, pengadaan bibit ternak, penyuluhan, pembuatan pakan,perkawinan ternak, penanganan  kelahiran ternak, penjualan anak babi.  Kegiatan ini telah berhasil, hal ini dilihat dari keikutsertaan, keaktifan serta berpengaruh pada peningkatan pendapatan kelompok binaan, karena kelompok dilatih untuk membuat pakan ternak babi sendiri maka  terjadi penghematan biaya pakan sebesar Rp. 256,500 pada mitra, bila dibandingkan dengan menggunakan pakan babi  komersial

Abstract

Kegiatan pengabdian telah dilakukan di UMKM  Elssaday di kelurahan Teun Baun. Tujuan dari kegiatan ini agar peternak mitra dapat mengolah limbah dan memanfaatkannya sebagai pakan ayam kampung. Metode yang digunakan dalam kegiatan ini adalah penyuluhan, dan demplot. Pada Kegiatan ini peternak diberi pengetahuan dan dilatih tentang cara pengolahan limbah kulit pisang melaluo proses fermentasi, memanfaatkan hasil fermentasi sebagai bahan pakan ayam kampung.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to examine the use of Amorphophallus companulatus (AC) tuber flour in feed on the weight and length of the digestive organs of super-native chickens. This research was conducted for 8 weeks. The experimental design used was a completely randomized design (CRD) with 4 treatments and 5 replications (P0 = feed without AC tuber flour, P1 = feed containing 5% AC tuber flour, P2 = feed containing AC tuber flour 7.5%, and P3 = feed containing 10% AC tuber flour). The results showed that the use of AC tuber flour in the super free-range chicken feed had a very significant effect (P<0.01) on the weight and length of the small intestine and significantly (P<0.05) on pancreatic weight, but had no effect (P>0 .05) against gizzard. It was concluded that AC bulbs could be used up to 10% in super-free-range chicken feed. the use of AC tuber flour as much as 7.5% in super free-range chicken feed resulted in the highest intestinal weight, intestinal length, and pancreas weight.

This study evaluated the physical quality of complete rabbit feed containing different legumes. The study design was an experimental method using a Completely Randomized Design with four treatments and five replications. The treatments were as follows: P1 =complete feed without legume;P2 = complete feed with 10% moringa leaves meal; P3 = complete feed with 10% Leucaena leaves meal; P4 = complete feed with 10% turi leaves meal. Parameters measured were hardness, durability, density and specific gravity of rabbit pellet complete feed. Data analysis uses analysis of variance and if there is a treatment with a significant effect, then it is continued with Duncan's multiple distance test. The results showed that legumes had no significant effect on impact resistance, friction resistance, pile density, and specific gravity of the rabbit pellets produced. It was concluded that the use of legumes, namely Moringa, lamtoro and turi did not reduce the physical quality of the pellets.

Abstract

Kepok banana peel is one food processing waste that can be used as poultry feedstuff. The content of fiber and tannins in banana peels limits its utilization, and the fermentation process can improve the nutritional quality of banana peels. Crossbred native chickens feed usually available in three forms mash, granules, and pellets. The nutrient content of the feed ingredients used in the manufacture of pellets will affect the quality of the pellets produced. This study aimed to examine the use of banana peel silage on pellets' physical and nutritional quality for crossbred native chickens in the grower phase. This experiment used a completely randomized design with four treatments and five replications. The four treatments were (P0) diet without banana peel silage, (P1) diet with 10% banana peel silage, (P2) diet with 20% banana peel silage, (P3) diet with 30% banana peel silage. Data were analyzed by analysis of variance and continued with Duncan's New Multiple Range Test. The results showed that the level of banana peel silage had a very significant effect (p<0.01) on the pellet durability, pellet density,  moisture content, crude fiber, and crude fat pellet. It was concluded that kepok banana peel silage up to 30% in the crossbred native chicken feed positively impacted pellet durability, density, moisture content, fat content, crude protein content, and reduced crude fiber content.
