Abstract

Quality control of spring coil products has not been carried out properly, where it is indicated that most defects are outside control limits. This research was conducted at a company engaged in manufacturing, especially spring coils. The aim of this research is to increase process capability by reducing process variations that occur. The method used is Six Sigma DMAIC. A Cp value of 0,8 was obtained, which was in the range Cp < 1 so that it could be concluded that the process capability value was still below and improvements needed to be made so that the Cp was close to 1. Then a DPMO value of 8173,721 was obtained with a sigma value of 3,901. From the analysis conducted, it was found that the main cause of the defect was that the gears had chipped/worn out and the bolt settings had changed. Therefore, suggestions for preventive card maintenance were carried out. The next proposal is a raw material control card to control the quality of raw materials from suppliers. Another action that can be taken is to calculate the DPMO on a monthly basis. This is done to control the ongoing production process. The last proposal is with the 5S/5R kaizen plan card, which is to introduce that small changes can have a positive impact on sustainable change. With these proposals, the problems that occur, namely defects that are still high, can be reduced. Therefore this company needs to exercise control to maintain the suggestions that have been given or even improve them more than before.

Abstract

This research focuses on KOHE candy products produced by PT. KS. PT. KS is a manufacturing company that produces candy. Based on the observations and research that has been done, there are defects or product defects during the process of making KOHE candy. This study aims to identify, analyze and provide suggestions for improvement for PT. KS in order to reduce the number of defects or product defects produced using the six sigma method. Based on the calculation of process capability and sigma value, product quality improvement is 15,136 DPMO with a sigma value of 3.67. Based on the FMEA, it can be seen that the causes of defects or product defects are candy squeezed between packages, placement of candy that does not fit, packaging that is not closed evenly and description of candy packaging that does not match. Based on the RPN calculation with the aim of determining the highest priority is a pinched packaging defect with an RPN value of 210 and a severity value of 7. The proposed improvements are improvements to work SOP, check sheets and one point lessons. It is hoped that this research can provide benefits in the form of reducing the number of defects during the production process at PT. KS.

Abstract

This research was conducted in manufacturing company that focuses on the textile sector, especially raw materials for making woven labels. In calculating the company's current performance, what is considered in outline is the financial aspect, so that other aspects have not been considered. Intense competition in the current market share will certainly make the company's condition decline. Therefore it is necessary to have performance measurement and strategic planning. This performance calculating uses the Balanced Scorecard method which obtains 12 Key Performance Indicators (KPI), then calculated using the Objective Matrix and the Traffic Light System. The results of the Balanced Scorecard are: Financial Perspective 0.428, Customer Perspective 0.332, Internal Business Process Perspective 0.119, Learning and Growth Perspective 0.121. The results of the assessment using the Objective Matrix and Traffic Light System showed that 5 indicators were good, 2 performance indicators were not optimal, and 5 performance indicators needed improvement. Then proceed to strategic planning using the Hoshin Kanri method with the X-Matrix.

Abstract

The increasing number of fabric defects over the past three years has caused the company's performance to decline in terms of production. The data obtained is defect data in the period December 2019 to January 2023 from internal company data, while waste data is obtained by waste assessment questionaire and waste relationship matrix. The DMAIC method is the main method in this study, starting from defining problems and measuring process capabilities based on defects, continued with WRM and WAQ for waste type analysis, and the root of the problem in defects and waste is analyzed with fishbone diagrams. The results of this study show that the most common types of defects are holes, broken threads, and broken needles, while the types of waste that occur are waiting, overprocessing, defects, and overproduction. The root of the problem is that there are no QC procedures for raw materials, machine operating procedures, and periodic inspection procedures. By providing improvement proposals and implementing improvements, it was concluded that there was a reduction in production costs of up to 4%, an increase in work efficiency of up to 2.48%, and a manufacturing lead time of up to 35.98%.

Abstract

In order to face the competitive market, companies are required to produce good quality products and maintain their quality to meet customer expectations. The research was conducted at one of the textile printing companies in Indonesia with the object of research, namely CVC (Chief Value Cotton) fabric. This research aims to find out and overcome the company’s problems using Lean Six Sigma method with DMAIC completion stages to improve the quality of the fabric printing process and reduce waste in the company. Define phase started by identificating the company’s problem and measure phase maps the current value stream mapping and calculate process cycle efficiency (PCE) with a result of 17.88%, defects per million opportunities (DPMO) with a result of 16,627 and sigma level of 3.63 sigma. The next step is to analyze the causes of defective CVC fabric using fishbone diagrams, pareto diagrams, and why-why analysis. The last is control phase by monitoring the implementation of proposed improvements and recalculating process capabilities.

Abstract

This research was conducted at a Fulfillment Center company, which is engaged in 3PL (Third Party Logistics). The design and performance measurement this time uses a Green Supply Chain Management approach and is adjusted to the company's vision and mission, resulting in 40 KPIs that have been successfully designed. After that, the company only validated 24 KPIs, then modeled Green Supply Chain Operation References with 4 perspectives, namely plan, source, delivery, and return. 4. From the assessment results of the Objective Matrix (OMAX) method and Traffic Light System, 18 performance indicators are green, 5 performance indicators are yellow, and 1 performance indicator is red. In addition, each perspective also has a score, among others: the source perspective with an achievement score of 9.719, followed by the plan perspective with a score of 9.536, then the delivery perspective with a score of 7.753, and the worst perspective is the return perspective with a score of 6.509.

Abstract

Dalam era industri saat ini, keberlanjutan menjadi aspek krusial dalam mengelola operasional perusahaan. Fokus penelitian ini adalah pada rantai pasok produk medis habis pakai yang didistribusikan oleh sebuah perusahaan distributor peralatan kesehatan. Produk medis habis pakai memiliki siklus pemakaian singkat, berpotensi memberikan dampak signifikan terhadap lingkungan. Produk ini sering menghadapi masalah seperti penuaan inventaris, yang meningkatkan risiko produk kedaluwarsa karena kurangnya penjualan, dan akhirnya dapat berujung pada penumpukan limbah. Selain itu, peningkatan emisi CO2 yang disebabkan oleh transportasi yang tidak ramah lingkungan memberikan dampak negatif tambahan pada lingkungan. Solusi untuk mengatasi permasalahan ini melibatkan implementasi pengukuran kinerja rantai pasok hijau. Penelitian ini bertujuan memberikan rekomendasi perbaikan pada setiap tahap rantai pasok menggunakan metode Green SCOR (Green Supply Chain Operation Reference) untuk mendekomposisi proses, dan AHP (Analytical Hierarchy Process) untuk memberikan bobot pada hierarki KPI. Hasil penilaian dengan Objective Matrix dan Traffic Light System menunjukkan bahwa hasil dari pengukuran kinerja GSCM secara keseluruhan adalah 5,482 yang berarti performa perusahaan dikatakan cukup dan membutuhkan perbaikan untuk mencapai target maksimum. Terdapat 10 indikator kinerja yang sudah baik, 4 indikator kinerja yang belum maksimal dan 4 indikator kinerja yang memerlukan perbaikan guna meningkatkan kinerja perusahaan. Perbaikan ini menjadi krusial untuk memastikan keselarasan rantai pasok dengan prinsip-prinsip lingkungan dan berkontribusi pada keberlanjutan usaha.

Abstract

As a company that continues to make progress and various innovations, one of the pharmaceutical companies in Jakarta continues to make continuous improvements, especially in production effectiveness and efficiency. Line 2 – CJ 3 machine is a packaging machine for liquid products which located in the black area and it has the highest running time. Based on production results and defect data for the period January 2023 to July 2023, this machine produces an average of around 23.439% defects and has various problems that affect production efficiency. The aim of this research is to determine the level of machine effectiveness using the OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) method, identifying factors that influence the OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) value using Six Big Losses analysis, Pareto Diagram, Fishbone Diagram, FMEA (Failure Mode and Effect Analysis), and provide suggestions for improvements and recommendations by implementing TPM (Total Product Maintenance). Based on research, the average of OEE value for Line 2 – CJ 3 machine was 47.676% and the average of reduced speed losses value was 24.999% as the bigest six big losses. The results of analysis using a fishbone diagram show that the influencing factors are man, machine, method, and material. The highest RPN (Risk Priority Number) value obtained was 294 and the lowest was 70. The improvements using TPM will be focused on Autonomous Maintenance, Planned Maintenance, and Education and Training.

Abstract

Pharmaceutical Companies are manufacturing industries operating in the pharmaceutical sector where these companies produce solid, semi-solid and liquid product extractions. In the production process in the packaging section in dense areas as the object in this research, it is not uncommon to experience waste in the form of product defects such as dirty blisters, ciplongs, and so on, as well as non-value added activities. To solve this problem, a lean six sigma approach was carried out through the DMAIC stages. This research aims to find out the types of waste, find out the main causes of product defects, find out the DPMO value and sigma level, and provide solutions in the form of suggestions to overcome existing problems to Pharmaceutical Companies. Through the definition stage, it is known that the object of this research is product The data collection method used is through observation, interviews and questionnaires. Based on the known measurement results/calculations and analysis, it can be seen that the company's PCE value is 14.93%, the company's DPMO value is 3.477 with a sigma level of 4.20. Through the Pareto diagram, 3 main wastes were identified, namely defects at 23.08%, waiting at 23.05%, inventory at 17.28%. This shows the need for improvement efforts to increase productivity and production efficiency of product X in Pharmaceutical Companies. After carrying out the analysis, suggestions for improvements are given according to the problems that occur, such as creating OPL, checksheets, SMED, and so on. After implementation, it was found that the PCE value had increased to 19.59%, the DPMO value had decreased to 3,341, and the sigma level value had increased to 4.21 sigma.

Abstract

Hospitals are health facilities that provide medical services and care for patients. Every hospital is always required to maintain and quality of service in order to achieve customer satisfaction and improve efficiency. Lean Management can be used as an approach to improve service quality and efficiency. The first step of improvement is to identify waste in the hospital. This article aims to discuss identification of waste in the outpatient unit of a hospital. Furthermore, determine the priority of waste that must be reduced (eliminated). The methods used are observation, interview and fuzzy. The results showed that the waste that is prioritized to be reduced (eliminated) are patients waiting for the next process (W2), the process of supplying repetitive drugs (OVP2), and patients waiting for registration (W1). The results of this study can be used by hospital management as a reference for making improvements, both in the outpatient unit and other service units.
