Abstract

This research was conducted at a company that produces household plastic equipment by implementing the Green Lean Six Sigma approach. The method used in this research is DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control). At the identification stage, waste analysis was carried out using the VALSAT tool, which revealed that the main wastes occurred in the aspects of waiting and product defects. In addition, this research also measured the liquid and solid waste generated due to defective products. The usage of water and materials in the production process was measured and used as indicators to evaluate environmental aspects. The analysis results showed that the company's initial efficiency was 27.91%, with a Defects Per Million Opportunities (DPMO) rate of 5320.19 and a sigma level of 1.358. These findings indicate the need for more attention to process improvement. Improvement recommendations were made based on identifying the root causes of problems using a fishbone diagram and Risk Priority Number (RPN) analysis from Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), resulting in prioritized recommendations to address defective products and generated waste. After implementing the proposed improvements, the company's efficiency increased to 73.17%. Additionally, waste management was also suggested to further enhance the company's sustainability and operational efficiency.

Abstract

This study focuses on evaluating green supply chain performance within a plastic-based household product manufacturer, specifically in the production of drinking glasses. Data collection involved questionnaires and interviews with company representatives. Findings from the interviews revealed a primary challenge in accurately forecasting sales demand, creating uncertainties in production and storage and often leading to overstock or stockouts, both of which negatively affect customer satisfaction. Over the last six months, significant discrepancies between forecasted and actual demand were recorded, with differences of 92, 90, 84, 37, 74, and 80 cartons respectively. To address these issues, the research applies a Green Supply Chain Management (GSCM) approach using the Green Supply Chain Operations Reference (GSCOR) model, alongside Key Performance Indicators (KPI), the Analytical Hierarchy Process (AHP), the Objective Matrix (OMAX), and the Traffic Light System (TLS). KPIs are measured across five core processes: plan, source, make, deliver, and return. This study aims to improve forecast accuracy, support the implementation of more effective and efficient strategies, and assess the extent of the company's environmental sustainability practices, ultimately contributing to better environmental practices within the organization.

Abstract

This study assesses the efficiency of a panel fabric production line at a Bekasi textile company using a Lean Supply Chain approach. Selected for its highest defect rate (62,919 defects from October 2024 to March 2025), 14 machines, and longest cycle time (14 days per batch), the line’s efficiency, dominant wastes, and improvement opportunities were examined. A descriptive single-case design gathered data through in-depth interviews, focus groups, and a seven-waste questionnaire. Process analysis began with Current Value Stream Mapping (VSM), followed by Value Stream Analysis Tools (VALSAT) via Process Activity Mapping (PAM) and Process Cycle Efficiency (PCE) calculations, then a 5 Whys analysis. PAM results indicated a PCE of 34.33%. The 5 Whys identified three root causes of waste: (1) lack of standardization and visual management, (2) unintegrated information flow, and (3) limited human-resource and equipment capacity. Key wastes included excess motion, inefficient material transport, inventory buildup, and waiting time. Recommendations include implementing 5S for workplace standardization, digitizing production with a pull system, and applying heijunka, kanban, and balanced flow to level production. Scheduled machine maintenance is advised to reduce defects. Adopting Hoshin Kanri and Future VSM will support continuous improvement and strategic alignment. These measures aim to reduce waste, boost productivity, sustain competitiveness, and foster sustainable business.

Abstract

In facing increasingly competitive business competition, food and beverage companies are required to improve production efficiency and maintain supply chain resilience in order to achieve optimal production targets. This study was conducted to identify the factors causing the discrepancy between targets and actual production results, evaluate supply chain performance, and simulate improvement scenarios using dynamic systems. The Supply Chain Operation Reference (SCOR) approach is used as a framework in analyzing and identifying critical points in the supply chain. Furthermore, performance measurement is carried out using the Snorm De Boer method to assess performance and determine indicators that require improvement. Scenario simulations were carried out using Powersim Studio 10 to test the influence of various variables. Based on the results of the simulation and ANOVA statistical testing, the best scenario for reducing product defects from the production line is scenario 3 and the best scenario for reducing SBL downtime is scenario 2. And when viewed as a whole, scenario 5 is the most balanced scenario because it is able to reduce SBL downtime by 1.82% and reduce product defects from the production line by 1.19%, thus providing a positive impact in a balanced way on operational efficiency and production quality. This research is expected to be a reference in making strategic company decisions and developing supply chain evaluation methods in the future.

Abstract

This research was conducted in a micro, small and medium enterprise (MSME) which produces apparel with its own brand. Even though they have been producing clothes since October 2020, sales have not met the target so the owner decided to temporarily stop the business with plans to continue after having sufficient capital. This study aims to determine consumer expectations for pajama products, measure the gap between expectations and products, and provide a design for the development of product quality using the Kansei Engineering and Quality Function Deployment (QFD). By processing the results of the first questionnaire and grouping the attributes into the eight dimensions of product quality, the eight most important attributes were comfort, pockets on shirt, safe, durable, smooth, easy to buy, affordable, and minimalist. The second questionnaire asked respondents to express their level of expectations and perceptions of the main product, competitor 1 and 2, which were then used to conduct a gap analysis. The gap value showed that consumer satisfaction with the main pajama product is lower than competitor 1, but higher than competitor 2, where the main product has an advantage in the 'affordable price' attribute. Furthermore, the three phases of the House of Quality (HOQ) provided manufacturing planning results in the form of using materials without defects, cotton and cotton t-shirt materials, plain or minimalist motifs, short sleeve and short pants model, variations in sizes M, L, and XL for all models, and the provision of pockets in shirts and pajama pants.

Abstract

Based on data from SIPSN, the total national waste generation consisting of 200 regencies or cities has reached 21.45 million tons in 2021. Of the total national waste pile, 7.13 million tons (33.26%) are still unmanaged. To help resolve this issue, PT NS together with PT M organized waste bank program which aims to build and develop more waste banks, but fact on the field showed that not all waste bank movements can run smoothly. Therefore, an analysis of the performance of waste bank services was carried out using the balanced scorecard and long-term strategic planning was conducted using hoshin kanri. From the results of the 9 prioritized strategic goals weighting, it was found that increase in profit has the greatest weight with value of 0.171. While new customer acquisition has the smallest weight with value of 0.070. From the performance evaluation carried out with objective matrix and traffic light system, there are 4 performance indicators in green, 1 in yellow, and 4 in red. After this, strategic planning can be carried out using the hoshin kanri strategy map to provide long-term strategy that can help waste banks in the program to operate sustainably.

Abstract

Food quality is very important so that food processing must be done properly to ensure food safety, namely by implementing the HACCP system. HACCP is often considered a complex system so that not many companies use it. This study aims to prevent hazards that may arise using the HACCP system and evaluate the quality control of shrimp crackers to reduce defective products.. This study uses a case study approach to a small and medium-sized company that produces raw shrimp crackers. Data were collected through literature reviews, interviews, and observations. The techniques used are quality control, Good Manufacturing Practices – GMP, Sanitation Standard Operating Procedure – SSOP, and Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point – HACCP. The results of the quality control analysis show that products that are included in the Not Good category have the characteristics of being incomplete, untidy, clean, not uniform, and of uneven thickness. The GMP & SSOP analysis results show that this company is at level IV, and is included in the "Unfit" category and HACCP analysis show that there are three processes included in the Critical Control Point (CCP), namely storage of raw and packaging materials, drying, and storage of finished materials. Suggestions for improvement are this company needs to pay more attention to quality control, improves the implementation of GMP and SSOP so that they can reach Level I in GMP and the "Meet" category in SSOP, and only then can implement the HACCP plan.

Abstract

Gross Regional Domestic Product is one of the good indicators to measure the economy of a region. In this study, GRDP modeling was conducted with the independent variables of the employed workforce (X1) and the number of job training institutions (X2) using spatial regression and Ordinary Least Square (OLS). The purpose of this study was to determine the spatial regression model of GRDP with these two predictors or independent variables, to determine the interaction of the proximity of districts/cities with neighboring districts/cities, and to determine the effect of the employed workforce (X1) and the number of job training institutions (X2) on the GRDP value. The results showed that based on the Robust Lagrange Multiplier test, the appropriate spatial regression was the SAR model. The coefficient of determination and MAPE in the OLS model were 57.8% and 1.888, while in the spatial regression model were 68.72% and 0.4139. These results indicate that spatial regression is better than OLS in modeling GRDP in East Java, because the coefficient of determination of the spatial regression model was larger and the MAPE was smaller than the OLS model. The interaction of the proximity of a district/city with neighboring districts/cities indicates that the district/city economy is influenced by the economy of neighboring districts/cities. The two independent variables, namely the employed workforce (X1) and the number of job training institutions (X2) have a positive influence on the GRDP value.

Abstract

The automotive battery manufacturing industry faces challenges in the effectiveness of its machine maintenance systems, particularly in the heat seal machine, which recorded the highest downtime with a total of 12,722 minutes and 434 occurrences from April 2024 to March 2025. This study aims to identify waste in breakdown maintenance activites, analyze the root causes, and provide improvement recommendations based on lean maintenance, The method used is Maintenance Value Stream Mapping (MVSM) to identify value-added (VA) and non-value-added (NVA) activities, and to calculate maintenance efficiency using indicators such as MTTO, MTTR, MTTY, and MMLT. In addition, root cause analysis is conducted using the five whys method and data collection through observation, interviews, and focus group discussion (FGD). The results show that maintenance efficiency is only 32.97% with NVA activities dominating at 67.03%. The identified types of waste include waiting, motion, process, and defects. The proposed improvements include the implementation of floation technicians, addition of trolleys, digitalization of the maintenance system using a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), and placement of toolboxes and equipment trolleys on the production floor. The implementation of the future state map shows an increase in efficiency to 38.22% and a reduction of NVA activities to 61.78%. These results indicate that the lean maintenance approach through systems.
