Abstract

Creative thinking is an essential competence in mathematics learning because it enables students to generate diverse ideas, approach problems from multiple perspectives, and produce original solutions. However, in the Indonesian educational context, students’ creative thinking skills remain low, and current assessment tools have not adequately measured all dimensions of creativity namely fluency, flexibility, and originality. This study aims to fill this gap by developing and validating a culturally contextualized open-ended assessment instrument designed to measure students’ creative thinking skills comprehensively. Using a research and development (R&D) approach, the instrument was tested with 28 ninth grade students from a junior high school in Malang City. The instrument’s construct validity was examined through Exploratory Factor Analysis (EFA), and its internal consistency was tested using Cronbach’s Alpha. The findings indicate that the instrument demonstrates good reliability and a clear three factor structure aligning with theoretical dimensions of creative thinking. These results suggest that the developed assessment can effectively capture students’ creative potential within culturally relevant mathematical contexts. The study contributes to educational assessment practices by providing a valid and reliable tool that promotes culturally responsive approaches to fostering creative thinking in mathematics learning.

Abstract

Students' critical thinking process in solving problems involves several stages, starting from interpretation, analysis, evaluation, inference, explanation, and self-regulation. This research is a descriptive type of research with a qualitative approach which aims to analyze students' critical thinking processes in working on mathematical problems on quadratic functions. The subjects in this research were four class The research was carried out boldly using Google Classroom and Google Meet media. Google Classroom media is used as a medium for giving test sheets to subjects and a place for subjects to collect answers, while Google Meet media is used to interview subjects. Based on the results of work and interviews with the four subjects, the results showed that students' critical thinking abilities included aspects of interpretation, analysis, evaluation and interference. Students 1) did not write down what was asked; 2) make a few calculation errors; 3) incorrectly writing the conclusion; 4) unable to provide logical reasons regarding the steps taken; 5) not re-checking. Teachers are expected to teach concepts related to mathematics, not just provide formulas without providing the origin of why the formula was created.

Abstract

Abstract: This community service activity was motivated by the challenges faced by diaspora students at Sekolah Indonesia Jeddah regarding their limited knowledge and skills related to lokal Indonesian food, as well as the lack of practical experiences that foster cultural pride through culinary traditions. The aim of this program is to enhance students’ literacy about tempe, develop their skills in producing almond-based tempe, and strengthen cultural values through the integration of batik motifs in product packaging. The implementation methods included counseling, demonstrations, workshops, hands-on practice, and a design thinking session involving 30 students. Evaluation was conducted using pretest–posttest assessments and the Profil Pelajar Pancasila (P5) rubric. The results indicate an improvement in students’ knowledge and skills, evidenced by 100% of participants gaining new competencies, 93.33% expressing interest in practicing the process at home, and 90% recognizing the marketing potential of almond tempe with batik-themed packaging. P5 assessments showed that 30% of students were in the very good category, 46.7% in good, and 23.3% in fair. This program proved effective in strengthening students’ knowledge and skills in producing culturally significant lokal foods.

Abstract

This research aims to develop a culture-based mathematics E-Module to support students' mathematical literacy in a valid, practical, and effective way. The ADDIE development model was used in this research. Data was collected with validation sheets, response questionnaires, and evaluation questions and analyzed descriptively qualitative and quantitative. The validity of the E-Module, with a validation score of 81.5%, fits the valid criteria. Practicality with a response questionnaire score of 90.49% according to practical criteria. Effectiveness was assessed from student evaluation results with an average  percentage of 63.166% according to somewhat effective criteria. The results showed that the E-Module with cultural context is feasible and practical and has a positive impact on improving students' mathematical literacy skills.
