Abstract

Currently, the implementation of Guidance and Counseling in Elementary Schools is still not optimal, as evidenced by the absence of formation of Guidance and Counseling Teachers in Elementary Schools. The subject teacher or homeroom teacher is the spearhead for Guidance and Counseling activities in elementary schools. This community service activity aims to improve the competence of elementary school teachers in Bengkalis Regency so that they have broad insight regarding the implementation of guidance and counseling in elementary schools in order to improve the quality of guidance and counseling services so that the development of students in elementary schools becomes optimal in terms of aspects of the Physical-Aspects. Motor, cognitive, social, emotional, moral, and religious. The method used is brain storming, training-simulation and question and answer discussion. The evaluation was carried out by distributing a questionnaire on understanding and measuring the results of chronological assignments. 100% implementation of activities with full attendance of participants for 2 days of training. The increase in the competence of elementary school teachers after being given guidance and counseling training is 80%.

Abstract

Primary education is the initial foundation for developing the potential of human resources. However, challenges such as loss of learning due to the Covid-19 pandemic, disparities in the quality of education, and limited educational facilities affect elementary school students in Indonesia. This article reports community service activities such as tutoring assistance for elementary school students in Bagan Keladi Village, Dumai, Riau Province, which aims to overcome these challenges. This activity involved University of Riau Kukerta Students in 2022. The results showed an increase in the number of participants and positive feedback from parents and teachers. Furthermore, this activity can be used as an example of similar activities in other areas to support the improvement of academic achievement and skills of elementary school students more broadly.

Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of solution-focused group counseling to improve students planned happenstance skills. The experimental research method way repeated measures with pretest design and multiple posttest design, involving 5 students as participants which from 24 upperclassman of the guidance and counseling FKIP ULM which have low planned happenstance skills. The result of the research by using one-way ANOVA for repeated measures test showed that solution-focused group counseling was effective in improving the planned happenstance skills (F (2,8) = 325,895; p<0,001).
