Abstract

The phytochemical tests and toxicity test extract from petals of kepok banana flowers (Musa paradisiaca Linn.) have been researched. The method used is Brine Shrimp Lethality Test (BSLT). According the results of phytochemicals test from petals of the kepok banana flowers (Musa paradisiaca Linn.) contains compounds metabolite secondary which is alkaloids, saponin and triterpenoid. The toxicity test showed the most active fraction is the ethanol fraction with 304.8067 ppm of LC50 values.Keywords: Musa paradisiaca Linn., phytochemical test, toxicity test (BSLT)

Abstract

The structure modeling of zeolite A using calculation of molecular mechanics methods with variation of Si/Al ratio ( 1; 1,18; 1,4; 1,66 and 2) and variation of cations (Li+, Na+, K+) has been investigated. The result shows that the structure of zeolit A with the ratio of Si/Al = 2, has the most stable structure with a minimum energy 1757,1420 kcal/mol. The most stable zeolite A structure impregnated with cations are determined from the lowest energy which is 1686,8383 kcal/mol for the structure with K+ cation. In addition result shows that the structure with Li+ cation has the largest window diameter, thus affecting the window size of the zeolite A structure of which potentially has the best adsorbent capacity.

Abstract

This study was started by extraction of Eucalyptus deglupta Blume. Using organic solvent (n-hexane, ethyl acetate, ethanol and water) followed by phytochemical screening and toxicity test using Brine Shrimp Lethality Test (BSLT) method. Isolation and identification of chemical compounds contained in the fraction were done by column chromatography and Gas Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry (GC-MS) analysis. Phytochemical screening revealed the presence of alkaloids, flavonoids, steroids and phenolics in the extract. Toxicity test results showed that the ethyl acetate extract was potentially active with LC50 value of 617.95 ppm. The extract was continued to isolation stage and gave fraction EKEA-3.1 with LC50 value of 2759.93 ppm. Identification of chemical compounds in EKEA-3.1 with KG-MS analysis showed that EKEA-3.1 was suspected to be Stigmastan-3,5-diene.

Abstract

One sesquiterpene compound has been isolated and identified out of the ethylacetate extract of bawang hutan (Scorodocarpus borneensis Becc.) barks. The barks were macerated with methanol, and then partitioned with mixture of ethylacetate-water (1:1).  Fractionation of the ethylacetate phase by column chromatography gave pure compound. Based on data interpretation from of ultra-violet (UV) spectra, Fourier Transform Infra Red (FT-IR), NMR 1D (1H and13C-NMR); NMR 2D (HMQC, COSY, HMBC), and comparison with literature, the pure isolated compound was determined as sesquiterpene   compound, cadalene-β-carboxylic acid, which exhibited LC50 of 42.32 ppm. Keywords: bawang hutan, Scorodocarpus borneensis, Olaceaeae, brine shrimp lethality test.

Abstract

Phytochemical screening has been conducted on the ethanol extract of tembelekan leaves (Lantana camara Linn) which showed the presence of alkaloids, flavanoids, steroids, triterpenoids and phenolic. Testing antihyperglicemic activity of ethanol extract tembelekan leaves conducted experiments in the laboratory with each dose 14 mg/kg BW, 28 mg/kg BW and 56 mg/kg BW given orally in male mice induced by alloxan. Measurement of blood glucose levels done on day 0, 4, 8, 14 and 18 by using glucometer and glucose test strips. The decrease in blood glucose levels is 56,89 % with ethanol extract tembelekan leaves dose 56 mg/kg BW. The results showed that there is decrease in blood glucose because given ethanol extract tembelekan leaves.

Abstract

The research about the development of rapid test method in determination of inherent moisture concentration and total sulfur which used by the ISO (International Organization for Standardization) has been diving. This research aims to determine is the rapid test method could be used to analyze inherent moisture and total sulfur to determine the analytical performance of the rapid test. Parameters of the validation used in this research are accuracy which described in percent of recovery as the percent of the recovery of inherent moisture are 99,98 % and total sulfur value are 98,57 %, precision described in coefficient of the variant which gained in inherent moisture are 0,49% and total sulfur value is 4,1%. Robustness of method is described in the variation of drying time, which accuracy and precision do not affect by time variation in preparation. The results show that rapid test method can be used for an alternative method which used by the ISO.

Abstract

A study about Bioaccumulation of Pb Metal Ion in Hair and Blood of Operator of General Fuel Filling Station, Sentosa Road Samarinda has been conducted. The aim of the study is to determine the accumulation of Pb metal ions levels and the association between the hours of work of gas station operator assumed to be positively correlated and the levels of Pb metal ions in hair as well as in blood. Hair and blood were homogenized and analyzed by Atomic Adsorption Spectrophotometer (AAS). The results displayed that the lowest and highest level of Pb metal ions contained in hair was 0.03 μg/g and 0.07 μg/g, respectively. The highest number found in blood was similar to the level contained in hair, that is 0.07 μg/mL. However, the lowest level was marginally lower with a number 0.01 μg/mL. The coefficient correlation (r) obtained were 0.822 and 0.859 for hair and blood, respectively. These numbers indicate there was a strong positive relationship between working hours of gas station operator and levels of Pb metal ion in hair and blood. This inference was also supported by the results of t test, that is, 0.564. Furthermore,% determinants analysis was also undertaken which result in 82.2% and 85.9% for hair and blood, respectively to strengthen the test result that working hours of gas station operator in Sentosa Road Samarinda was positively associated with Pb metal ion levels in hair and in blood.

Abstract

Pembuatan etanol dari kulit pisang mahuli (Musa paradisiaca. var sapientum) telah dilakukan. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah hidrolisis enzimatis yaitu mengubah pati menjadi glukosa dengan bantuan enzim α-amilase dan gluko-amilase, kemudian dilanjutkan dengan penambahan nutrisi urea serta proses fermentasi alkohol dan destilasi. Hasil fermentasi kemudian dianalisa menggunakan Kromatografi Gas. Konsentrasi etanol yang optimum didapatkan pada fermentasi hari keempat sebesar 6,212% dengan konsentrasi urea optimum yaitu 0,5%.

Abstract

Singkong Karet (Manihot glaziovii Muell) merupakan umbi yang tidak termasuk bahan makanan  karena mengandung  unsur kimia asam sianida (HCN) yang bersifat racun. Kandungan pati dalam ubi mencapai 98,5 %. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui konsentrasi amonium sulfat dan waktu fermentasi terbaik terhadap kadar bioetanol yang dihasilkan. Proses hidrolisisi pati dilakukan secara  enzimatis melalui tahap liquifikasi dan sakarifikasi dengan menggunakan enzim alfa-amilase dan gluko-amilase yang akan mengkonversi pati menjadi glukosa. Glukosa hasil hidrolisis ditambahkan amonium sulfat sebagai sumber nutrisi dengan variasi 0,75 %; 1 % dan 1,25 % (b/v) kemudian difermentasi menggunakan jamur Saccharomyces cereviceaea dengan variasi waktu 120, 144 dan 168 jam menjadi bioetanol. Pemurnian bioetanol dilakukan dengan proses destilasi. Analisa kadar alkohol menggunakan kromatografi gas. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan penambahan nutrisi amonium sulfat yang paling optimum adalah 1 % (b/v) dan waktu fermentasi yang optimum adalah 168 jam dengan kadar etanol sebesar 28,183 %..Kata-kata kunci:  Singkong karet, fermentasi, amonium sulftat, bioetanol

Abstract

Esterification of alginic acid obtained from seaweed (Turbinaria sp) extract with methanol (CH3OH) using sulfuric acid catalyst produce methyl ester alginate.The products were confirmed as methyl ester alginate as confirmed by FT-IR spectroscopy. The water content of this product was 11.61% with the pH value 4. The amount of Pb was 0.422 ppm. The viscosity of the product was decreased from 14.67 cps to 12.08 cps with the increasing of the temperature from 27oC to 70oC. The optimum addition concentration of the product was 2% on the ice cream; this value can length the melting point time of the ice cream from 11.19 min to 14.05 min at 31oC.
