Abstract

Abstract

Abstract

Introduction: Knowledge of Antenatal Care (ANC) is crucial for the health of pregnant women and their unborn children. Objectives: This study compares the effectiveness of counselling alone versus a combination of counselling and video education on pregnant women's knowledge of integrated ANC at Puskesmas Sekardangan Sidoarjo. Methods: Using a quasi-experimental design with two post-tests only groups, 40 pregnant women were divided into two groups of 20. The control group received counselling, while the intervention group received both counselling and educational videos on ANC. ANC knowledge questionnaires were completed post-intervention and analyzed using the Mann-Whitney test. Results: Results indicated that 65% of the control group had poor knowledge levels, compared to 45% of the intervention group with good knowledge levels. There was a significant increase in knowledge in both groups, with a Z count of -3.525 and a significance value of ρ = 0.000, showing a significant difference between the groups. Conclusion: The study concludes that combining educational videos with counselling is more effective in enhancing pregnant women's knowledge about ANC than counselling alone. Health facilities are recommended to integrate educational videos into ANC counselling programs, with further research needed to explore technology in health education.

Abstract

According to the Belu District Health Service, exclusive breastfeeding rates for babies aged 0-6 months at the Atapupu Community Health Center decreased in 2021. This research aims to determine the relationship between maternal knowledge, employment, and exclusive breastfeeding. The study uses a cross-sectional design. Data were collected from the Atapupu Health Center, Belu Regency, NTT (June-July 2022), involving 70 participants. This research employed a total sampling technique. Primary and secondary data were gathered using questionnaires, and the data were analyzed using the Chi-Square statistical test. Results from the univariate analysis indicated that regarding knowledge about exclusive breastfeeding, nearly 26 respondents (37.1%) had sufficient knowledge. In terms of mothers' employment, the majority worked as housewives, with 49 respondents (62.9%). Additionally, 42 respondents (60%) were more likely to practice exclusive breastfeeding. The Chi-Square test results showed a significant relationship between maternal knowledge and exclusive breastfeeding, with a p-value of 0.001 (p 0.05) and an odds ratio (OR) of 0.6, indicating a relationship between knowledge and exclusive breastfeeding. Conversely, the relationship between maternal employment and exclusive breastfeeding yielded a p-value of 0.099 (p 0.05), suggesting no significant relationship between employment and exclusive breastfeeding.

Abstract

Given its potential to affect the growing fetus, maternal mental health during pregnancy is essential. Anxiety during pregnancy is associated with the socio-emotional development of the child, potentially resulting in behavioral and emotional issues in the future. Children of mothers who experience anxiety during pregnancy are predicted to experience poorer growth and development in infancy and preschool age. This study aims to determine the effects of anxiety during pregnancy. This study used a literature review approach from 8 relevant articles from the online databases Scopus, PubMed, Google Scholar, and Garuda. The inclusion criteria of this study were original research in Indonesian or English, respondents measured anxiety during pregnancy, and measurement of infant/child affective patterns, which were fully accessible. The findings indicated that a child’s affective development and anxiety during pregnancy are significantly correlated. It can be characterised by decreased attention to facial expressions in infants crying, sleeping, and feeding. In addition, the child may experience impaired socio-individual neurodevelopment, fine motor and emotional development, and poorer language. This can lead to negative behavioral development, such as hyperactivity and emotional disturbances, from preschool to adulthood. The more often and longer the mother experiences anxiety, the more likely the child is to have emotional and behavioral disorders.

The aim of this study is to analyze women’s experiences in receiving midwifery care during pregnancy. Methods: This was a qualitative study with a phenomenological design. The research subjects consisted of eight participants selected using a purposive sampling technique. Data were collected through in-depth interviews. Results: The pregnancy experience was perceived as pleasant, which was attributed to the care programs offered, including the incorporation of complementary care. Conclusion: All forms of care provided were essential and continuous, taking into account the physical, psychological, social, and cultural backgrounds of pregnant women. Through a comprehensive approach and appropriate empowerment, midwifery services are expected to foster better understanding, enhance satisfaction, and provide a positive and meaningful pregnancy experience for every woman.
