Abstract

Abstract

Community service in the form of implementing a system for checking and repairing cracks in walls in Pakintelan Village, Gunungpati District, Semarang City aims to increase residents' knowledge regarding the problem of cracks in walls which are thought to be caused by ground movement. This activity starts from a site survey, equipment preparation, and training carried out with the correct procedures, ensuring the implementation of correct repair methods and according to standards. Based on the results of surveys and interviews with local residents, the cracks in the walls of houses that occurred at the Citra Pesona Pakintelan Housing Complex were caused by ground movements which caused non-uniform structural settlement and vibrations resulting from housing construction behind the service location. The service team and students provide guidance and assistance to stone masons and the surrounding community. There were 6 masons who took part in the training and several members of the local community. The repair method used to repair cracked walls is the stitching method.

Abstract

Butterflies’ recognition serves a crucial role as an environmental indicator and a key factor in plant pollination. The automation of this recognition process, facilitated by Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs), can expedite this task. Several pre-trained CNN models, such as VGG, ResNet, and Inception, have been widely used for this purpose. However, the scope of previous research has been somewhat constrained, focusing only on a maximum of 15 classes. This study proposes to modify the CNN InceptionV3 model and combine it with three data augmentations to recognize up to 100 butterfly species. To curb overfitting, this study employs a series of data augmentation techniques. In parallel, we refine the InceptionV3 model by reducing the number of layers and integrating four new layers. The test results demonstrate that our proposed model achieves an impressive accuracy of 99.43% for 15 classes with only 10 epochs, exceeding prior models by approximately 5%. When extended to 100 classes, the model maintains a high accuracy rate of 98.49% with 50 epochs. The proposed model surpasses the performance of standard pre-trained models, including VGG16, ResNet50, and InceptionV3, illustrating its potential for broader application.

Abstract

Face spoofing detection is critical for biometric security systems to prevent unauthorized access. This study proposes a deep learning-based approach integrating FaceNet and DenseNet201 to enhance face spoofing detection performance. FaceNet generates identity-based embeddings, ensuring robust facial feature representation, while DenseNet201 extracts complementary texture-based features. These features are fused using the Concatenate function to form a more comprehensive representation for im-proved classification. The proposed method is evaluated on two widely used face spoofing datasets, NUAA Photograph Imposter and LCC-FASD, achieving 100% accuracy on NUAA and 99% on LCC-FASD. Ablation studies reveal that data augmentation does not always enhance performance, particularly on high-complexity datasets such as LCC-FASD, where augmentation increases the False Rejection Rate (FRR). Conversely, DenseNet201 benefits more from augmentation, while the proposed method performs best without augmentation. Comparative analysis with previous studies further confirms the superiority of the proposed approach in reducing error rates, particularly Half Total Error Rate (HTER), False Acceptance Rate (FAR), and FRR. These findings indicate that combining identity-based embeddings and texture-based feature extraction significantly improves spoofing detection and enhances model robustness across different attack scenarios. This study advances biometric security by introducing an efficient feature fusion strategy that strengthens deep learning-based spoof detection. Future research may explore further optimization strategies and evaluate the approach on more diverse datasets to enhance generalization.

Abstract

Abstract

Current planning and implementation of building Mechanical-Electrical (ME) component maintenance are inefficient due to the lack of proven methods and techniques for providing accurate, non-overlapping, effective, and efficient information. Current ME component maintenance management practices and processes face numerous challenges related to data compilation and management, including data loss, wasted time searching for information, and a lack of interoperability. Research on databases, particularly in the building maintenance phase, remains limited. Data compilation is limited to scheduling and existing condition data used to generate routine maintenance reports with reference to implementation dates. This research resulted in an integrated Building MechanicalElectrical Component Maintenance Database Model to support Facility Maintenance Management (FMM). This model has met the requirements by passing the Database Reliability Test. The test used queries ranging from simple to highly complex to provide accurate, non-overlapping, effective, and efficient information needed to manage data on materials, equipment, contractors, types of work, schedules, and costs during the maintenance and repair phase.
