Abstract

The purpose of this study is to examine the impact of the quality of leader-member exchange towards organizational commitment with job satisfaction as an intervening variable on employees of The Central Statistics Office (BPS) in Bali. This study collects primary data via a self-enumerated questionnaire with 7-points Likert scale ranging from "Strongly Disagree" to "Strongly Agree." With a population of 264 employees, the sample method employed is saturated sampling or census. This study's sample had 173 respondents, with a response rate of 65.5% of the population. The SEM-PLS method was used to analyze the data with the Smart PLS 3.0 tool. The findings revealed that job satisfaction fully mediates the influence of the quality of the leader-member exchange on organizational commitment. The findings indicate that the quality of leader-member exchange may not necessarily boost employee’s organizational commitment if they are not satisfied with their jobs. As a result, in order to boost employee commitment, leader must be able to build quality relationships to increase the job satisfaction of his/her subordinates.

Abstract

This study examined the influence of work motivation and discipline on employee performance, with leadership style as a moderating variable. Conducted among employees of the Dinas Pemberdayaan Masyarakat dan Desa Kabupaten Simeulue, the research employed a mixed-methods approach, integrating quantitative and qualitative data. The quantitative phase involved a survey of 150 employees, revealing that work motivation (? = 0.50, p < 0.001) and work discipline (? = 0.40, p < 0.001) significantly impacted employee performance. Hierarchical multiple regression analysis demonstrated that leadership style significantly moderated these effects, enhancing the positive impacts of motivation (Interaction ? = 0.25, p < 0.01) and discipline (Interaction ? = 0.20, p < 0.01) on performance. Qualitative interviews further supported these findings, indicating that supportive and culturally sensitive leadership boosted employee morale and performance. The results suggested that fostering a motivated and disciplined workforce through targeted HR practices and leadership development programs is essential for improving organizational effectiveness. This study provided valuable insights for HR management and leadership in government institutions, emphasizing the importance of integrating local cultural norms into leadership practices

Abstract

Background: Working abroad certainly has challenges, especially when the job involves high responsibilities, such as being a nurse. The combination of the job tasks and the foreign environment potentially led to more stress, particularly for migrant nurses, including Indonesian nurses who work in the Netherlands. Objective: This study aims to explore the types of stress experienced by nurses from Indonesia working in the Netherlands. Methods: This qualitative research employed interview techniques and a literature review. The data were analyzed using coding systems in Microsoft Excel. Seven questions were used to conduct online interviews in October 2023 with five Indonesian nurses employed in the Netherlands. Simultaneously, a literature review was carried out by searching for publications on Wiley Online, Google Scholar, PubMed, Springer, and Science Direct. Journal articles found were then selected according to predetermined criteria. Seven questions were used to conduct interviews with five Indonesian nurses who were employed in the Netherlands. Results: The results of the interviews and literature review demonstrated that the types of stress for Indonesian nurses working in the Netherlands are physiological and psychological stress (in terms of the nature of the stressor), negative stress (in terms of the effect of stress on the individual), and acute stress (in terms of the duration of exposure to the stressor). Conclusion: Indonesian migrant nurses in the Netherlands experience physiological and psychological stress with negative effects, highlighting the need for further research with a larger sample size for more credible and diverse results.

Abstract

Changes in the Minister of Education have directly led to shifts in the national curriculum. The implementation of the new curriculum began gradually in 2023, requiring teachers to be ready to adapt. However, certain conditions indicate that this readiness is not yet fully evident. This study aims to examine the effect of principal leadership agility, teacher competence, and work environment on readiness for change, mediated by employee engagement at Don Bosco School, Panca Dharma Foundation, Jakarta. A quantitative associative method was used, with data collected through questionnaires from 181 teachers. Hypothesis testing was conducted using SEM-PLS (Partial Least Square) 3.0, with hypothesis acceptance based on t-statistics compared to the t-table value of 1.645 at a 0.05 significance level (one-tailed). Findings reveal that principal leadership agility, teacher competence, and work environment influence readiness for change by 60.10%, while 39.9% is influenced by other variables. These factors also affect employee engagement by 71.40%, with 28.6% attributed to other factors. Recommendations include encouraging principals to strengthen leadership skills and engage staff in strategic decision-making. School management is advised to maintain a supportive work environment to enhance teacher involvement and adaptability.
