Abstract

Coconut is a plant and natural potential that is excellent in Latuhalat Village. Coconut has so many benefits that it has earned the nickname the tree of life because every part of it can be used for the benefit of society. Coconut processing in Latuhalat Village is carried out on a small and traditional scale, namely processing it into coconut cooking oil. This processed product will leave processed waste (processed waste) known as "taiminya". This processed residue is usually not used anymore, then thrown away or used as animal feed. The Pattimura University PKM Team presents innovation and development of taiminya into "taiminya confectionery" and "taiminya chili sauce" products. This innovative product is expected to increase the income of the people of Latuhalat Village

Abstract

Maluku is part of the Indonesian territory which is traversed by the meeting point of 3 active tectonic plates, namely the Indo-Australian plate (southern part), the Eurasian plate (Western and North parts) and the Pacific plate (Eastern part). This causes the tectonic activity in Maluku and the islands therein to be quite high, and it is very prone to earthquakes and even tsunamis. Earthquake events cannot be predicted both when and how large the intensity of the earthquake will occur, so it is necessary to carry out early debriefing regarding earthquake disaster mitigation. This activity was carried out at SMP Negeri 8 Ambon Negeri Hutumuri, South Leitimur District, Ambon City, which is one of the coastal schools in Maluku. The material presented included an introduction to Indonesia's tectonic order, definitions of disaster mitigation, actions to be taken before, during and after an earthquake. Based on the results of the socialization, it appears that the students were very enthusiastic and had quite good knowledge regarding how mitigation and evacuation should be carried out.

Abstract

The community service is carried out to provide knowledge to the young people of Negeri Hukurila, South Leitimur District, who are first-time voters. First-time voters, according to the Election Law, refer to individuals aged 17 and above or those who have been married. First-time voters are those who are eligible to vote for the first time in any type of election, including general elections, presidential elections, legislative elections, or other elections. They can be aged 17-18 or older and have met the voter requirements set by the laws of their country or jurisdiction of residence. The purpose of this community service is to increase the participation of first-time voters, especially the young people of Negeri Hukurila who have just graduated from high school or vocational school. Based on observations, it has been found that the youth in Negeri Hukurila have low political participation in elections, and they also have limited information about elections and a lack of political education. With reference to these issues, we conducted community service with the hope that after the socialization on increasing the participation of informed first-time voters, their knowledge about elections and politics would increase, thereby impacting the high level of participation of first-time voters in the upcoming 2024 elections.

Abstract

Brown algae contains alginate is a hydrocolloid compound. This study aims to determine the types of brown algae as alginate producers in the coastal waters of Ambon island, Tial and Liang villages, Central Maluku. This research was conducted in April 2021. Sampling is carried out by means of free collection at low tide, at the time of sampling it is visually observed the condition of the substrate on which brown algae. Liang village beach as a whole has a variety of substrates of rocky, rocky sand, sand mixed with dead coral. However, in the sampling area, it was found that the dominant substrate was rocky sand substrate, and dead coral. Tial village beach has four types of substrates, namely rocky substrates in area A directly adjacent to the coast and have a substrate area of 2,250 m2 (15%), coral fault substrates and rocky in area B are in the littoral zone have a substrate area of 3,000 m2 (20%), sand substrates and coral faults in area C are in the littoral zone have a substrate area of 5,250 m2 (35%) coral substrates in area D are directly adjacent to the subtidal area and have a substrate area of 4,500 m2 (30%). All four substrates are in the intertidal zone. The substrates that cover the observation area a lot are sand substrates and coral faults. The results of the identification of brown algae species on the shores of Liang and Tial villages found four species classified in one division, one class, two families, and three genera. The diversity of brown algae species in the coastal waters of Tial there are three types of brown algae, Sargassum duplicatum, Turbinaria ornata, and Padina minor and on Liang beach there are two species of brown algae, Sargassum polycyctum and Padina minor. The four types of brown algae found have the potential to be a source of alginate

Abstract

Abstract

The Kei Islands water area is quite productive in fisheries management. Environmental characteristics and oceanographic factors in a body of water will determine the potential of fisheries resources in a water body, and influence fish movement patterns and the formation of fishing areas for flying fish eggs. This research aims to examine the distribution of sea surface temperature and chlorophyll-a concentrations and analyze the relationship between sea surface temperature and chlorophyll-a concentrations with catches of flying fish eggs. The research focused on the waters of the Kei Islands, Southeast Maluku, which is an area for catching flying fish eggs. The research data was studied in the period December 2014 – November 2017. SPL and Chlorophyll-a data were downloaded from Citra MODIS-Aqua, while data on flying fish egg production was obtained from PPN Tual. The research results show that the monthly average SST distribution is between 25.03-30.42ºC, and the monthly average of chlorophyll-a varies quite widely with a range of 0.05-3.09 mg/m3. The number of flying fish egg production fluctuates every year with a production range of 36.28-81.905 kg. The peak of catching flying fish eggs occurs in June-September (eastern season and transition season II). The results of the analysis show that the correlation between SST and chlorophyll-a variables has a very dominant influence on the abundance of flying fish eggs.

Abstract

Fluktuasi konsentrasi klorofil-a secara umum menunjukkan pola musiman, sedangkan pola variabilitas konsentrasi klorofil-a antar musim memperlihatkan kandungan klorofil-a maksimum ditemukan pada musim timur sebesar 0,70 mg/m3, dan kandungan klorofil-a terendah terlihat pada musim barat sebesar 0,10 mg/m3.
