Abstract

Background of study: Kinesthetic skills are an important aspect of early childhood development, but at the Pembina Arga Makmur State Kindergarten, there are still children who have difficulty running, jumping, and throwing balls. Aims and scope of paper: The purpose of this study is to understand how obstacle course activities affect the kinaesthetic abilities of Arga Makmur Kindergarten students, ages 5 to 6. Methods: The research methodology utilized a two-group pretest-posttest experimental design and a quantitative method. Out of the 48 preschoolers in the population, 24 children made up the sample. They were split into two groups at random: the experimental group and the control group. An independent sample t-test was used to assess the data after it was gathered through tests and observation. Result: The analysis results indicated a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05, indicating a substantial disparity in gross motor abilities between children who took part in the obstacle course and those who did not. Conclusion: Obstacle course games have a positive effect on improving children's gross motor skills. Obstacle course games can be used for physical learning activities with obstacles to train early childhood skills.

Abstract

Background of study: Character is an attitude that should be instilled in children from an early age. Character education for early childhood education plays an important role in shaping children's moral and social foundations from an early age. Aims and scope of paper: This study aims to determine the strategies teachers use in applying Tarakanita character values to children aged 4 to 5 years at Sint Carolus Kindergarten. Methods: This study uses a qualitative approach involving the principal and two teachers as research participants. The data collection techniques used in this study are interviews and observation. Furthermore, the data will be analyzed using the Miles and Huberman model. Result: The results of the study show that Sint Carolus Kindergarten systematically develops Tarakanita character values through three main strategies, namely learning through the integration of Tarakanita Character Education, foreign languages, experience-based learning, and technology; habit formation through practicing good behavior such as queuing and caring for the environment; and reinforcement through consistent role modeling by teachers and parents as the foundation for character building in children. Conclusion: The implementation of Tarakanita character values at Sint Carolus Kindergarten is carried out through three strategies, namely learning, habit formation, and role modeling. The teachers' strategy in applying Tarakanita character values emphasizes experience-based learning and implements a cycle of reflection and sharing with parents as an effort to provide education that is consistent between home and school.

Abstract

Research in the background of limited research related to how to reconstruct science learning for students with special needs. The purpose of this study is to produce cooperative contextual reconstruction-oriented science learning (KOKO) for students with special needs. Research is a development research with ADDIE design (Analysis, Design and Develop). The population of this study was all students with special needs in special schools in South Bengkulu and North Bengkulu. Research instruments in the form of material and media expert validation questionnaires, teacher response questionnaires to the developed learning reconstruction, observation sheets and posttest questions to illustrate the structure of students' knowledge and science literacy. Data collection was carried out by providing validation questionnaires to material and media experts, providing teacher response questionnaires, making observations and giving posttest questions. Data analysis uses quantitative data analysis with descriptive statistics which are then narrated qualitatively. The results of the study resulted in KOKO learning design products including five stages, namely theme determination, contextual orientation, learning activities, evaluation, reflection and follow-up. The results of the product feasibility analysis showed an average validation result with a score of 0.85 in the very decent category

Abstract

This study aims to analyse various publications related to research discussing play activities in early childhood in Indonesia during the period 2015-2025. The research approach used in this study was qualitative, with a literature review based on data obtained from the Scopus database using Publish or Perish software. The results of the study show that publications related to play activities in early childhood in Indonesia occurred mostly in the period 2022-2025, with the highest number in 2025, namely 20 studies. After analysing the literature sources related to play in early childhood, the focus was on aspects of child development, which consisted of 11 studies. Thus, these findings illustrate that research related to play activities provided to children is still limited to the form of developmental stimulation. As a follow-up, the researchers hope that there will be more research that prioritises play activities as a child's right or children's wellbeing.
