The community service program aims to improve the productivity of cattle farming in the Cendana farmer group in Pesisir Selatan Regency, West Sumatra. The program focuses on raising awareness about the importance of providing minerals as a crucial component of animal feed. Minerals such as calcium, phosphorus, and magnesium play a significant role in the growth and health of cattle. The program results reflect an improvement in farmers' understanding of the role of minerals in animal nutrition. It is expected that they will be able to enhance cattle productivity by ensuring the fulfillment of mineral requirements in their feed. This program has the potential to support sustainable farming efforts by preventing mineral deficiencies in cattle. The training imparted theoretical knowledge and taught proper mineral selection, correct dosages, and cattle's health and productivity benefits. This program encourages livestock owners to apply their newfound knowledge in their day-to-day farming practices. This community service program has the potential to significantly improve the quality and well-being of farmers in the region and support the overall growth of the livestock sector.

When purchasing, consumers will prioritize the attributes attached to the product. Research needs to be done to increase consumer buying interest through consumer preference. Especially if it is done in an area with potential but little interest in Kampong chicken meat, this study aims to look at the preferences of Kampong chicken consumers in Bukittinggi City, West Sumatra, Indonesia. The research implementation time was in August 2023. This study's population is Kampong chicken consumers in several wholesale markets in Bukittinggi. For the sample size, 200 respondents had been taken. The variables in this study are a set of attributes of Kampong chicken: price, color, texture, age, gender, chicken meat parts, and chicken skin. The results showed that the highest importance value was at the age attribute of the chicken, which was 19.069, while the lowest value was the price. Based on calculations, it was found that consumers prefer affordable prices to price stabilization. The preferred meat color was meat with a pink color, chewy skin texture, medium size, 4-5 months old, male sex; the most preferred part was the breast, and the chicken was consumed without the skin.

This study aims to determine the income and analyze the profit level of the beef cattle business owned by the Sinar Pagi livestock group in Limapuluh Kota Regency, Sumatera Barat Province. This research contributes to the wider debate on improving rural livelihoods and achieving sustainable agricultural development, and is essential for understanding the profitability of smallholder livestock enterprises. The results of this research will provide insights into the financial sustainability of their operations and will inform strategies for the optimisation of their business performance. The research was carried out using a case study method with 16 key informants, also members of the Sinar Pagi livestock group. Data were analyzed with descriptive quantitative methods. The study results show that the income earned by this livestock group in one year of research is IDR 6,471,775, with a profit rate of 1.08/year. It can be concluded that the Sinar Pagi livestock group only gets a profit of 8%, and this profit has not been able to meet the needs of the farmer's life.

Adaptasi sapi terhadap stres akibat panas sangat penting untuk mempertahankan produktivitas sapi dalam menghadapi perubahan iklim global. Tinjauan ini menyintesiskan temuan dari berbagai penelitian untuk memberikan wawasan tentang mekanisme genetik yang mendasari toleransi terhadap panas dan potensi penerapannya dalam program pemuliaan. Penelitian terkini telah mengidentifikasi beberapa gen kandidat dan polimorfisme genetik dalam ATP1A1, ATP1B2, HSP70A1A, HSP70, HSP90AA1, HSPB6, HSF1, MYO1A, dan BCKDHA berkontribusi secara signifikan terhadap toleransi panas pada sapi.

Program Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat Membantu Nagari Membangun di Nagari Sungai Kamuyang Kecamatan Luak Kabupaten Lima Puluh Kota ini dilaksanakan untuk membantu nagari Sungai Kamuyang menyelesaikan masalah-masalah yang menghambat pembangunan Nagari. Tujuan kegiatan ini adalah meningkatkan kapasitas BUMNag Sungai Kamuyang dalam mengembangkan usahanya untuk menunjang capaian nagari mandiri, khususnya penguatan status badan hukum BUMNag, menyusun rencana bisnis terhadap unit-unit bisnis potensial dan strategis tersebut dan melakukan training dan mentoring (pelatihan dan pendampingan) bisnis bagi Tim Manajemen BUMNag Sungai Kamuyang dalam rangka penguatan kapasitas sebagai badan usaha yang profesional. Program Membantu Nagari Sungai Kamuyang Membangun ini telah berjalan dua tahun, dimulai tahun 2020, dan saat ini memasuki tahun ketiga, dengan fokus kepada pelatihan dan pendampingan bisnis yang belum terlaksana pada dua tahun sebelumnya, di antaranya: a) penguatan status badan hukum BUMNag; b) pelatihan dan pendampingan penyusunan anggaran dasar dan anggaran rumah tangga terkait badan hukum BUMNag; c) pelatihan dan pendampingan penyusunan rencana kerja BUMNag 2023.

Salah satu tujuan program pengabdian kepada masyarakat Universitas Andalas, melalui Skim Membantu Nagari Membangun adalah Penguatan aspek legal/badan hukum dan sumber daya manusia. Kegiatan ini berupaya meningkatkan kapasitas Badan Usaha Milik Nagari (BUMNag) Sungai Kamuyang mengembangkan usahanya. Program pengabdian ini didesain sebagai program yang terintegrasi dari suatu proses pelatihan dan pendampingan bisnis (training and mentoring). yang diawali dengan pemetaan permasalahan legalitas badan usaha, kebutuhan pelatihan dan pendampingan berdasarkan kondisi usaha BUMNag saat ini. Hasil pemetaan (gap analysis) menjadi acuan utama program penguatan kapasitas yang akan dilaksanakan selama masa program diimplementasikan. Program ini telah dan sedang dilaksanakan tanggal 11 Oktober 2021 sampai akhir November 2021. Hasil yang telah dicapai dari program ini di antaranya adalah: 1) review aspek legalitas BUMNag, 2) training aspek legal bagi tim manajemen, dan 3) pendampingan tim manajemen BUMNag menyusun draft revisi anggaran dasar dan anggaran rumah tangga. Jumlah peserta yang terlibat dalam kegiatan ini bervariasi 8 - 28 orang, yang terdiri dari Wali Nagari Sungai Kamuyang dan perangkatnya, tim manajemen BUMNag, dan tokoh masyarakat.

Indigofera zollingeriana salah satu tanaman pakan leguminosa yang memiliki kandungan nutrisi dan produksi tinggi yang berpotensi sebagai sumber hijauan pakan ternak. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui jenis media tanam terbaik bagi pertumbuhan Indigofera zollingeriana. Penelitian ini menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dengan 7 perlakuan dan 5 ulangan, yaitu tanah (A0), tanah + pasir (A1), tanah + arang sekam (A2), tanah + pupuk kandang (A3), tanah + pasir + pupuk kandang (A4), tanah + arang sekam + pupuk kandang (A5), dan tanah + pasir + arang sekam + pupuk kandang (A6). Data pertumbuhan diantaranya tinggi tanaman, jumlah daun, jumlah cabang dan diameter batang, dianalisis menggunakan analisis ragam (ANOVA) dan jika berpengaruh nyata maka dilakukan uji jarak Duncan Multiple Range Test. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa tidak ada pengaruh nyata terhadap jenis media tanam terhadap tinggi tanaman, jumlah daun, jumlah cabang, namun berpengaruh nyata terhadap diameter batang Indigofera zollingeriana. Media tanam terbaik terdapat pada perlakuan A5 (tanah + arang sekam + pupuk kandang) terhadap pertumbuhan Indigofera zollingeriana.
