Abstract

Abstract

Introduction:  WHO's global health sector strategy 2022–2030 on HIV goals to reduce HIV infections from 1.5 million by 2020 to 335,000 by 2030, and deaths from 680,000 in 2020 to below 240,000 by 2030. The Southeast Asia Regional Action Plan (RAP) for HIV (2017–2021) provides a clear vision of "zero new infections, zero HIV-related deaths, and zero discrimination" and a goal to "End the AIDS epidemic as a health threat by 2030".  Methods: Qualitative research by understanding the phenomenon of what the research subjects experienced, In this study, the authors used a descriptive method, which aims to describe the facts of the Indonesian government's policy and the Thai government's policy in tackling HIV AIDS cases in each country. Results: People diagnosed with HIV should be offered and associated with antiretroviral treatment (ART) as soon as possible after diagnosis and monitored periodically using clinical and laboratory parameters, including tests to measure the virus in the blood (viral load). Indonesia's policies in dealing with HIV AIDS are: Government Policy, Treatment, treatment and support for PLHIV, Conducive Environment, Sustainability of Countermeasures. Meanwhile, Thailand's state policy is: Prevention, Treatment and treatment, Cooperation in countermeasures and creating a conducive environment for PLHIV. Conclusion: It is known that in principle, the prevention and treatment of HIV AIDS refers to the world health organization and is developed based on the needs of each local government by looking at several ethnicities, races and religions as strategies in accelerating their prevention

Abstract

Background: The behavior of Handwashing with Soap (HWWS) is a method of hand hygiene maintenance that protects oneself and those around from diseases. However, the habit of washing hands with soap might not be a routine practice among adolescent students in maintaining daily personal hygiene. The purpose of this study was to analyze the factors related to HWWS behavior among the students of Islamic boarding school based on the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB). Method: This research was an observational study with a cross-sectional design. The sample consists of 104 students, aged 10 to 21 years old (53 male and 51 female) selected purposively. The data analysis conducted to assess the strength of relationships between four elements in the TPB and HWWS behavior as well using the contingency coefficient and Spearman correlation. Result: The results of the study show that behavioral intention was strongly associated with HWWS behavior (C = 0.609, p < 0.001). Meanwhile, the four TPB elements had moderate level of associations (C = 0.484 – 0.594, p < 0.001). To conclude, efforts are needed to improve HWWS facilities and strengthen HWWS behavior through programs tailored to the students' characteristics and needs.

Abstract

Background. AI-based mobile applications are revolutionizing language learning by offering personalized, adaptable tools. Their impact differs across various learning environments, prompting the necessity for a comparative study to understand these variances better. Purpose. This study aims to compare the effectiveness of AI-based mobile applications for English language learning in formal classroom settings versus informal self-study environments. The goal is to determine how these tools perform across different contexts and identify the optimal conditions for their use. Method. A comparative study was conducted involving high school and university students in formal educational settings and adult learners in informal self-study settings. Over three months, participants utilized AI-based language learning applications. Data collection involved pre- and post-tests to measure learning outcomes, alongside surveys and interviews to gauge user experiences and preferences. Results. Analysis revealed significant improvements in both learning environments, with formal settings showing a 12% increase in test scores and informal settings an 8% increase. Students in formal settings more frequently engaged with interactive features, whereas informal learners gravitated towards self-study tools. Engagement and interaction levels were notably higher in formal educational settings compared to informal ones. Conclusion. AI-based mobile applications significantly enhance English language learning, particularly in structured, formal environments. The findings underscore the importance of tailoring these tools to fit different learning contexts. While both formal and informal settings benefit from these applications, formal education environments seem to leverage their interactive features more effectively, resulting in higher engagement and better learning outcomes. This study highlights the need for educators and developers to consider context-specific strategies to maximize the benefits of AI-based language learning tools.
