Abstract

Risky sexual behavior is a serious issue as it is a major risk factor for the emergence of diseases such as Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs), disabilities, and mortality among adolescents due to a lack of information about sexual health. The aim of this study is to prevent risky sexual behavior through health education based on the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB). A systematic review was conducted using four electronic databases (Scopus, PubMed, Web of Science (WoS), and Science Direct) on previous studies employing cross-sectional, quasi-experimental, and Randomized Control Trials (RCT) designs from the last 5 years (2017-2021). The database search was performed from November to December 2021. The Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) was used as a guide for assessing the quality of the studies, and PRISMA was used as the research guideline. Data analysis utilized descriptive analysis to identify themes. There were 11 articles that met the inclusion criteria in the review. All selected studies discussed sexual health education using the TPB approach. There was an improvement in behavior change based on TPB (attitudes, subjective norms, control, and intention) among adolescents who received sexual health education. The factors influencing adolescents' intentions are closely related to the process of behavior formation. These factors include attitudes, subjective norms, and behavioral control. A Sexual health education based on TPB can be an appropriate intervention to prevent risky sexual behavior among adolescents, as its priority is to strengthen behavioral intentions by enhancing attitudes, subjective norms, and behavioral control through continuous health education.

Abstract

Sexual harassment ranks first among the cases of sexual violence in educational institutions. The college has become one of the educational institutions with a high case rate. Given that sexual harassment can harm a person as it can have a physical, psychological, and social impact, it is necessary to prevent sexual abuse with personal safety skills consisting of recognize, resist, and report. One of the factors that influences the prevention of sexual harassment is knowledge. The aim of this study is to look at the relationship between knowledge and personal safety skills as behavioral efforts to prevent sexual harassment in students. This research is a quantitative analysis of the type of observational analytics with cross sectional design. Respondents to this study were active students of Airlangga University in the academic year 2023/2024 and a total of 420 respondents were obtained using accidental sampling method. The data collection uses questionnaires and is processed with Spearman's analysis that shows the strength of the relationship. The results show a very strong relationshiip (r=0.824) between knowledge and personal safety skills as an attempt to prevent sexual harassment in students. It is hoped that the campus will maximize its efforts to prevent sexual harassment by increasing the knowledge of students and citizens of the campus about sexual abuse, facilitating training in personal safety or self-care skills, expanding media information and access services for reporting sexual assault, as well as monitoring and periodically evaluating programmes that have been conducted in the campus area.

Abstract

Background: Anemia in adolescents, particularly young women, remains a significant public health concern in Indonesia, with low adherence to iron supplementation being a key contributing factor. While previous interventions have focused primarily on individual compliance, the role of teachers as health educators in schools is often overlooked. This study aimed to analyze the determinants of teachers’ intention to provide health education on anemia prevention in Surabaya high schools.Method: A cross-sectional survey was conducted among 119 high school and vocational school teachers within the working area of Tanah Kali Kedinding Health Center, selected through simple random sampling from a total population of 170 teachers. Data were collected using structured questionnaires and analyzed using multiple logistic regressions to assess the influence of attitudes, subjective norms, and perceived behavioral control on teachers' intention to deliver health education.Result: The analysis indicated that teacher' attitudes, subjective norms, and perceived behavioral control did not significantly influence their intention to deliver health education on iron supplementation. This indicates that structural and institutional factors, rather than individual psychological characteristics, primarily influence teachers' involvement in health education delivery.of the risks of e cigarettes. Efforts to enhance adolescent anemia prevention should address structural barriers within the educational system. Policy support from schools and educational authorities is critical to institutionalizing health education as part of the teachers' formal responsibilities.

Abstract

Hypertension is a chronic condition that cannot be cured but can be effectively controlled. Lifelong blood pressure management is essential to prevent the development of cardiovascular complications. Successful hypertension management hinges on the patient’s active participation in the treatment process. The priority issue is the low self-management ability of elderly people with hypertension. Efforts are needed to empower elderly with hypertension. The aim is to improve the self-management ability of elderly people with hypertension. The methods used include lectures, Focus Group Discussion (FGD), practice, and mentoring. Evaluation was carried out with a pre-test and post-test. The sample were elderly people with hypertension who were registered as members of Prolanis, aged 55-65 years, had been diagnosed with hypertension for at least 1 year, and were taking at least one type of antihypertensive medication. The media used was the Self-Management Module. An additional health promotion program was conducted with four sessions in one month for the treatment group. The results showed that the health promotion program was effective in improving self-management skills. Elderly people with hypertension who have good self-management skills will be more compliant with the therapy program, thereby reducing the risk of complications.
