Abstract

Indonesia is known as one of the countries with the largest biodiversity in the world (megadiversity) and is the center of world biodiversity (megacenter of biodiversity). Rhizanthes loweii has a geographic distribution from Sumatra, Peninsular Malaysia, and Kalimantan. In Sumatra this species has been recorded to be found in Mount Leuser, Sibolangit, Mount Dempo, South Sumatra, Penanggungan, Lampung and Bengkulu. KSNP as one of the largest conservation areas in Indonesia has a very high and diverse potential for natural resources and environmental services. TNKS also has various data objects of natural tourist attractions that have the potential to be developed, including mountains, hills, lakes and waterfalls. This research was conducted in the Kerici Seblat National Park (TNKS) Resort Sungai Lambai. The method that will be used in collecting data in this research is the path method and the determination of the observation plot is carried out by purposive sampling. Each 1 ha measuring plot counted the number of individuals with Rhizanthes loweii buds/flowers. This Important Value Index (INP) is used to determine the species composition and dominance of a species in a stand. Sungai Lambai Resort is located in Nagari Lubuak Gadang Selatan, Sangir District, South Solok Regency, West Sumatra. Nagari Lubuak Gadang Selatan is divided into five jorongs, namely, Jorong Pincuran Tujuh, Jorong Sungai Lambai, Jorong Karang Putiah, Jorong Ayia Manyuruak and Jorong Liki. The vegetation around Rhizanthes loweii contained in the research plot amounted to 32 species with seedling, sapling, pole and tree levels. The soil in this research location is generally alkaline soil. The type of clay soil is dusty, has a smooth texture, and is blackish brown in color. Habitat characteristics and distribution of Rhizanthes loweii in Kerinci Seblat National Park lives on dusty clay soil with blackish brown color and average soil pH of 7.1 (neutral). The average temperature is 23.7⁰ C and the average humidity is 80%.Keywords:  TNKS, Habitat, Distribution, Rhizanthes loweii. (Becc)

Abstract

The need for data and information is an essential issue in sustainable mangrove management. The availability of data from authorized institutions is essential considering the reliability and consistency of the data, both to process techniques and data availability. This study used national mangrove and landcover data produced by the Ministry of Environment and Forestry through online services. 11 data series (2000 – 2019) obtained through the Representational State Transfer (REST) Application Programming Interface (API) service. Application of spatial analysis of vector data through geoprocessing tools and attribute data management to determine the distribution and changes in mangrove cover and the factors that trigger changes. Estimated data indicate a 13.4% decline in mangroves in Riau Province, with an average decline of 2,495.9 hectares/year. Over 98% of mangrove changes into other functions are caused by human behavior towards mangroves; we need a genuine attitude to preserve the mangroves of Riau Province for the future

Abstract

Bukit Suligi Protection Forest was a protected forest in Riau area which is a stretch of wet tropical forest. The forest land cover of this area continues to decline due to forest fires and forest area conversion. These problems will affected changes in the Bukit Suligi Protection Forest cover. Efforts to find out the change in cover of Bukit Suligi Protected Forest Area land was monitored to see changes in land cover in the area. The purpose of research was changes detection the Bukit Suligi Protection Forest cover in Kampar District through interpretation of Landsat imageries 1997, 2007 and 2017. Identify factors that cause changes in the cover of Bukit Suligi Protection Forest. This research analyzed land cover changes and interviews. Based on the results of interpretation of Landsat imageries in 1997, 2007 and 2017, land cover changes that occurred in the period 1997 - 2017 reached 4447.62 ha or 76.76% of the total area. If described in the period 1997 - 2007 land cover changes amounted to 2920.32 ha or 50.40% of the total area, these changes continue to increase until the period 2007 - 2017 land cover changes of 3627 ha or 62.60% of the total area. Factors that influence changes in the cover area of Bukit Suligi Protection Forest are natural factors and human factors. The human factor consists of population growth and government policies, namely the lack of supervision by the government in the forestry sector, specifically the management of the Bukit Suligi Protected Forest area.

Abstract

Aren (Arenga pinnata Merr) was one of the non-wood forest products that could be used start from sap, fruit, palm fiber, stems, leaves, and roots. Almost all products have economic value. This research was to study the benefits and have the economic values in Kiyap Jaya Village, Bandar Sei Kijang District, Pelalawan Regency, Riau Province. This recearch used a qualitative descriptive method by using economic analysis by asking for market prices and obtaining productivity. The sugar palm parts that are truly utilized by the community are roomie, fruit, and roots. As for the fibers, the stems and leaves has not been maximally utilized. The sap was used as an alternative medicine for diabetes mellitus and kidney failure. The Fruit was useful as a mixture of food and roots that are used as a tonic and urinary stones. The total economic value in the Kiyap Jaya Village was Rp. 31,450,000 per stem in one year, which was the highest economic value in the room of Rp. 25,550,000 per-month.

Abstract

Bukit Rimbang Bukit Baling Wildlife Reserve (BRBB) was designated in 1982 and was established in 2014 based on the Decree of the Minister of Forestry SK Number. 3977 / Menhut-VIII / KUH / 2014 dated May 23, 2014 covering an area of 141,226.25 ha in Kampar Regency and Kuantan Singingi Regency, Riau Province. The aim of this study was find out about local community knowledge in the Wildlife Conservation Area (BRBB) about kelulut or stingless bee (Trigona spp.) cultivation and to know the relationship between the respondent characteristics with that knowledge. This method of this research was quantitative approaches. The number of respondents was 85 people, selected based on random sampling spread in Koto Lamo Village, Bukit Betung Village, and Tanjung Belit Selatan Village. Data were analyzed statistically by chi-square test. The results of this study show that the local community has knowledge about stingless bee cultivation at the “knowing” level. Individual factors that were significantly related to people's knowledge of stingless bee cultivation were gender, employment, and education

Abstract

This research is aimed to get alternative fuel in the form of charcoal briquettes from raw material of wood waste of jabon and waste of palm fiber with adhesive resin and know characteristics of charcoal briquette from mixing waste wood of jabon and waste of palm fiber. The method used in this research is Completely Randomized Design (RAL), consisting of 5 treatments and 3 times replications. The results showed that biomass waste from wood jabon and palm fiber waste can be used as alternative fuel in the form of charcoal briquettes with adhesive resin.Characteristics of wood charcoal briquette of jabon wood and palm fiber waste have fulfilled the criteria of SNI 01-6235-2000 with the average value of water content of wood charcoal briquettes 2.33%, average of the calorific value of wood charcoal briquettes 6525,48 kal / gr ,While from burning process of P1 briquettes wood charcoal jabon takes the longest time compared with other treatment briquettes whose value of 0.256 gr / min. In this research it is found that the best charcoal briquettes are found on charcoal P1 briquettes with 100% composition of wood charcoal Jabon. The P1 briquette has the lowest water content, the highest calorific value and the longest burn time
